Balsamka is a German line of massage and body-care products for joints, muscles and the back, made by allcura Naturheilmittel GmbH, a family business based in Wertheim [3]. The range is small. It centres on a massage balm made with camphor, menthol and clove oil, and also includes a gel, an oil, a foot cream and a callus balm.

Balsamka is a trademarked product line inside a much larger catalogue of food supplements and natural cosmetics, not a company of its own. allcura presents it under the tagline "Natürliche Prävention und Regeneration für Ihren Körper" ("natural prevention and regeneration for your body"). The company sells it through its own web shop and says its products are available in pharmacies and health-food shops in Germany and Austria [1].

## Origin and ownership

Neither the year Balsamka was introduced nor the people who first developed it are documented. The history that is on record belongs to its owner. allcura Naturheilmittel GmbH calls itself a family business with more than 40 years on the market [2]. In the company's own telling, its roots go back over four decades, to the point when Johann Ebi took over the allcura brand, which already existed at the time.

According to allcura, Ebi grew up on a large farm and attended the agricultural school in Nürtingen before adding a commercial training. The company links its focus on natural products to that rural background and to his respect for people, animals and the environment. Now in his eighties, he is described as still being on the company premises almost every day.

In 2017 Johann Ebi handed the management of allcura to his son, Tobias Ebi [2]. The company credits the younger Ebi with taking allcura into the digital era, building up its online sales and steadily widening the product range. The firm is headquartered at Reichenäcker 7 in Wertheim, Germany, and online pharmacy listings name allcura Naturheilmittel GmbH as the manufacturer of the Balsamka balm [7].

Within allcura's catalogue, Balsamka sits alongside product groups that have little to do with body care: bee products such as Manuka honey, propolis and royal jelly, algae such as spirulina and chlorella, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, teas and juices. On the company's website the line appears both under general products and under cosmetics, next to a category for sport, massage and skin care.

## Philosophy and positioning

allcura says the Balsamka products are developed to care for different parts of the body and can be applied directly to the joints, the muscles or the back [3]. Some of them are meant to warm, giving what the company calls a relaxing deep warmth. Others are meant to cool, with a freshness intended to revive strained areas. The balm in particular is marketed for tired muscles and for care after sport.

The line also carries the outlook of its parent. allcura sums up its promise as "Den Menschen etwas Gutes tun", roughly "doing people good", and names naturalness, reliability and continuity, and innovation as its core values [2]. On naturalness, the company says it follows a less-is-more approach, using only as many ingredients as a product needs and leaving out unnecessary additives. On innovation, it says it keeps searching for new natural ingredients and products to add to its range.

allcura also describes a set of practical commitments that apply to the whole company rather than to Balsamka alone. It says it weighs ecological, social and economic factors when choosing raw-material suppliers, where possible. At its Wertheim site it uses rainwater to flush toilets, cutting its use of drinking water. The company further states that it donates each year to around 25 regional and national charities and non-profit projects, covering social support, education and environmental protection.

## Products and ingredients

The best-documented product is Balsamka Balsam, sold in 50 ml and 500 ml sizes. allcura describes it as an effective massage balm with a fresh, spicy scent and a creamy texture, and says it leaves no residue on the skin. Its base is lanolin (wool fat), sweet almond oil, beeswax, jojoba oil, avocado oil and vitamin E. The active-feeling part of the formula comes from camphor, menthol, field-mint leaf oil and clove leaf oil. According to the company, the lanolin works together with the camphor and menthol to create a pleasant, relaxed feeling on the skin.

The company lists several things the balm leaves out: it is described as free of synthetic dyes and fragrances, free of preservatives, and free of PEG compounds and petroleum derivatives [4]. An Austrian online pharmacy listing makes a similar point, describing the balm as made without artificial ingredients or petroleum products such as Vaseline and paraffin [7]. The published ingredient list also declares limonene, linalool, eugenol and isoeugenol.

allcura's directions are to rub the balm into the relevant areas of skin several times a day. The product carries a set of warnings. It should not be used by people allergic to any of its ingredients, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or on small children. It should be kept away from the eyes and mucous membranes, should not be applied to damaged or diseased skin, and hands should be washed after use. The company states that it is for external use only.

Four further products complete the line: the Balsamka Bewegungs-Gel ("movement gel", 200 ml), the Bewegungs-Öl ("movement oil", 125 ml), a foot cream (Fußcreme, 125 ml) and a callus balm (Hornhautbalsam, 50 ml) [3]. Beyond their names, sizes and the line-wide description of warming and cooling effects, little detail about these products is published.

## Distribution

allcura says its products are available throughout Germany and Austria: on request in many pharmacies, in numerous health-food shops, and through naturopathic practitioners and masseurs [1]. Balsamka has no website of its own and is presented on allcura's site, which also runs the company's web shop. The balm is carried by online pharmacies, where it is listed with a pharmacy product number in both its 50 ml and 500 ml sizes [6].

## Current status

Balsamka is an active line. In October 2026, allcura's website listed five Balsamka products, with the 50 ml balm shown as available for immediate delivery [4]. No awards, press coverage or third-party certifications are documented for the line.
