Benevi is a German medical skincare brand made for sensitive skin that reacts easily to allergens or is affected by skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, acne and eczema. It belongs to Dermaportal dp GmbH, a company based in Berlin, and uses the tagline "Medizinische Hautpflege für die anspruchsvolle Haut", which translates roughly as medical skincare for demanding skin. The range covers the face, eyelids, scalp and body, and it is organised around specific skin complaints rather than around skin types.

The brand's identity rests on its ties to dermatology. Benevi says it develops its formulas together with dermatologists, and it presents its products as care that runs alongside medical treatment rather than replacing it. The company gives no founding year of its own; its current operating company was entered in the German commercial register in 2015 [8].

## Origin & founders

The name joins two Latin words, "bene" (good) and "vita" (life). According to the company, together they promise "a good life in healthy skin", and the name is meant to express its mission of giving people with skin problems their quality of life back [2]. Benevi frames that mission against a public-health figure it attributes to Germany's Federal Ministry of Health: roughly 10 million people in the country live with a chronic skin disease.

The mission page states that the company has spent 15 years helping patients with dermatoses such as atopic dermatitis, acne and eczema. That page is undated, so the statement cannot be turned into a starting year. No founders are publicly named.

The founding date is therefore unsettled. The brand itself does not give one [2]. The German business register records Dermaportal dp GmbH, the company behind Benevi today, as registered in Berlin on 12 October 2015 [8]. That date marks the current company, not necessarily the start of the brand; if the "15 years" statement is recent, the work it describes would predate the registration. This article treats the brand's founding year as open.

## Ownership

Benevi's legal notice names Dermaportal dp GmbH as the company behind "benevi medizinische Hautpflege", registered at the district court of Berlin-Charlottenburg and managed by Simon Eichinger [4]. The company's registered business purpose covers two activities: publishing medical and dermatological content online, and producing, trading and distributing products for medical skin care [8]. The register lists four active shareholders, who are not named publicly.

The brand's website lists two partners, the pharmaceutical company InfectoPharm and the patient portal derma.plus, without describing either relationship. derma.plus describes itself as a portal curated by practising dermatologists, among them Prof. Dr. Dietrich Abeck, who is named as a founding member, and it carries banners for Benevi's products [11]. Whether the portal and the brand share an operator is not publicly stated.

## Philosophy & positioning

Benevi calls its approach a holistic therapy concept. The company argues that people with particular skin needs require care that takes into account not only the skin disease itself but also the extra sensitivity that treatment often brings with it. In its own description, the often prescription-based acute therapy, the acute care that accompanies it and the preventive care that follows should flow seamlessly into one another, helping to secure the results of treatment over the long term [3].

The brand describes its formulas as defined as much by what they leave out as by what they contain. "Everything that could irritate stressed skin has no place in benevi products," the company writes. In practice, it lists six things its products do without: fragrances, mineral oils, silicones, microplastics, PEG emulsifiers and essential oils [1].

The company also sets itself apart, in its own words, from many other skincare brands. It says its products are developed and recommended by dermatologists, and that their medical focus allows doctors to use them as a base for prescription medication [3]. A section of its website addresses physicians directly, covering magistral preparations (medicines compounded in a pharmacy to a doctor's prescription) and batch-prepared pharmacy medicines.

The mission is phrased in patient terms. Nobody, the company says, should be held back by skin problems, and every patient should have access to solutions that are easy to put into practice. It stresses simple routines that people can actually follow.

Education forms a large part of the brand's public presence. Its website hosts more than 40 articles on skin conditions, from keratosis pilaris (rough, bumpy skin, often on the upper arms) and dry eyelids to psoriasis and stretch marks in pregnancy, quoting dermatologists such as Prof. Dr. Dietrich Abeck and Dr. Petra Koziollek. A podcast series features interviews with dermatologists including Dr. Philipp Dormston on very dry, itchy skin, Dr. Christoph Dittrich on eyelid eczema, Dr. Christian Merkel on acne and Dr. Christina Schnopp on dry scalp.

## Products & innovation

The range is divided into five product series. The largest, benevi neutral, spans a face cream, face fluid, face cleanser, wash gel, body lotion, eyelid cream, shampoo, scalp lotion and scalp night treatment, as well as a basic care product for the anal area and the fold between the buttocks. benevi Hydroderm is aimed at blemish-prone and oily skin, with a cleanser, tonic, peeling, two face fluids and a spot treatment, the Pickel-Akut-Gel.

The smaller lines address narrower needs. benevi Kerato consists of the Kerato-Lotion for keratosis pilaris, listed in a German pharmacy product database with 10 percent urea and 10 percent lactic acid [9]. benevi Color offers a tinted pigment cream in light and dark shades. benevi Neutral-ISO comprises the ISO-Lotion, which the brand offers for skin care on the belly during pregnancy, and the ISO-Intensivcreme. The same database lists 22 Benevi preparations in total, including an intimate care product, Intim Repair.

Rather than sorting its shop by product type, Benevi groups products by complaint: dry, irritated eyelids and eyelid eczema; dry, itchy scalp and dandruff; rosacea; acne and blemishes; anal eczema and itching; dry, irritated skin; keratosis pilaris; perioral dermatitis (a rash around the mouth); and pregnancy-related skin problems. Many complaints come with a matching care set. The products the brand highlights as bestsellers are the eyelid cream, the spot gel, the anal-area basic care and the shampoo.

Six Benevi products, among them the face peeling, tonic, cleanser and shampoo, appear in dermoprotect, an ingredient-tolerance database that includes the brand among those it has tested.

The brand's own statements on manufacturing differ in detail. Its homepage labels the products "Hergestellt in Deutschland", made in Germany [1]. Its mission page is more specific, stating that all products are developed for sensitive, allergy-prone skin and are tested and produced exclusively in Germany and Switzerland under current EU guidelines [2]. No third-party certifications are documented.

## Current status

Benevi is active. As of September 2026 it runs its own online shop, and it offers a direct-supply channel through which pharmacies, skin clinics and hairdressers can stock its products on trade terms [5]. The brand's products are also sold through pharmacies. Its website, customer service and product listings are in German, and its business is concentrated in Germany.
