Dermikon is a German skincare company based in Erkelenz, a town in the Lower Rhine region of North Rhine-Westphalia. It develops and sells care products for sensitive, dry and problem-prone skin, with a particular focus on people living with atopic dermatitis (eczema) and psoriasis. Its consumer products are sold under the line name iQlind, which has its own website operated by Dermikon GmbH [8]. The company describes itself as a medium-sized, independent business with no corporate parent and no outside shareholders [1].

The range is small and tightly focused: face, body and scalp care, plus a section aimed at children, built around a proprietary active complex and a long list of ingredients the products leave out. Dermikon's own founding year is not stated by the company, and public register data points in more than one direction. The brand is active, with regular updates on its product-line site as recently as July 2026.

## Origin & founders

Neither of the company's websites gives a founding year or names a founder. The German commercial-register aggregator North Data lists an entry for Dermikon GmbH at the local court (Amtsgericht) of Mönchengladbach dated 13 January 2009, under register number HRB 12973 [9]. The same record, however, also lists a shareholder list filed in November 2008 and an annual statement for the financial year ending 31 December 2008, which indicates that the company existed before that 2009 entry. One possible explanation is a move of the registered office from another court district, but this has not been confirmed. For that reason this article does not give a founding year.

The company's legal notice names Nikola Rau as its current managing director (Geschäftsführerin) and confirms the Mönchengladbach register entry [2]. The same company details appear on the legal notice of the iQlind website, which ties the product line and the company together as one business.

## Philosophy & positioning

Dermikon presents itself as a specialist rather than a general cosmetics maker. On its company site it says it develops and sells only care products for sensitive and problem skin, based on current dermatological research, and argues that concentrating on this narrow field lets it follow new findings closely and bring them into its formulas. The company adds that there are already more than enough average products on the market, and that it wants to set itself apart from them.

Independence is a recurring theme. According to Dermikon, not answering to a corporate group or external investors allows it to develop products without pressure on time or cost [1]. The company also makes an unusually direct statement about money: on the iQlind "About us" page it says that, unlike many other firms, maximising profit is not its main priority, and that its aim is to bring relief to people with skin conditions and so improve their quality of life [3]. It sums up its approach in the principle "the highest possible product quality at fair prices".

Customer service is framed as part of the same stance. Dermikon contrasts itself with companies that route customers through call centres and paid hotlines, and says its own team handles questions personally, whether they arrive by e-mail, phone, fax or letter. The company tagline, shown at the top of dermikon.de, translates as "Love for the skin makes the difference."

A defining part of the positioning is what the products do not contain. Dermikon says that exceptional skincare is defined as much by the components left out as by those put in. Across the iQlind range, the company states that its formulas are free of emulsifiers, fragrance, colourants, silicone, paraffin and animal-derived ingredients, and that they come from German research and production. The shower gel is additionally described as free of microplastics. The brand does not use the word "vegan"; it speaks only of avoiding animal-derived ingredients.

## Preservative claims

The company's two websites word the preservative claim differently. On the iQlind product pages, "free of preservatives" carries an asterisk and a footnote referring to Annex V of the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 [7]. Annex V is the regulation's list of substances permitted as preservatives in cosmetic products, so the qualified claim means the products contain none of the substances on that list, rather than no ingredient with any preserving effect at all.

The Dermikon company site phrases it another way. Its list of excluded components names "preservatives (PEGs and PEG derivatives)" as a single item [1], pairing preservatives with PEGs (polyethylene glycols), which are not themselves preservatives. Both statements come from the same company. The more specific, footnoted iQlind wording is the one that reflects the regulatory definition.

## Products & innovation

The iQlind range is sorted by area of use. The product-line site asks visitors to choose between face, scalp and body care, and also has a section for children. The current line-up includes a scalp fluid, a scalp-friendly shampoo, the Intensiv Pflegecreme (intensive care cream), an Intensiv eye cream, the Intensiv Bodylotion and a washing and shower gel for face and body.

At the centre of the leave-on products is what the company calls the iQlind active complex, an ingredient blend whose composition is not disclosed. Dermikon says the complex has an immediate effect, calming the skin and reducing the sensation of itching, and a longer-term effect through what it describes as lasting regeneration of the skin's protective barrier. According to the company, both the cream and the body lotion are very well tolerated, a point it says has been confirmed dermatologically. On its company site, Dermikon says its products can visibly and noticeably improve the condition of sensitive and problem skin over time.

The cleansing product takes a different route. The washing and shower gel is based on mild sugar-derived surfactants (cleansing agents made from plant sugars) combined with skin-soothing actives, and the brand describes it as a particularly gentle cleanser for sensitive, dry skin that is meant to be used alongside the iQlind creams.

The Intensiv Pflegecreme is the line's most prominent product and the one most often referenced in the brand's own news. In June 2019 it was introduced in a 500 ml airless dispenser, a pump pack that keeps air out of the container. That large format later ran into supply trouble: in May 2026 the company announced that the dispenser was temporarily unavailable because its previous supplier no longer carried that specific pump [5].

Alongside its product pages, the iQlind site publishes general consumer articles on psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and shea butter as a skincare ingredient, as well as a glossary and downloads section.

## History & milestones

Much of the public record of the brand comes from the iQlind blog, which has recorded changes to the range and the business since the late 2010s.

- **2017** – A new iQlind website was launched in March.
- **2018** – Value sets were introduced for the scalp-care products.
- **2019** – In March the company announced a new display for pharmacies, and in June the 500 ml airless version of the Intensiv Pflegecreme [5].
- **2020** – In April the brand announced an external test seal for the Intensiv Pflegecreme.
- **2025** – A Mother's Day promotion offered a free washing and shower gel.
- **2026** – The 500 ml airless dispenser became temporarily unavailable in May. In July the 200 ml washing and shower gel was out of stock for a short period after unexpectedly high demand, and was reported back in regular supply on 29 July.

## Distribution

iQlind is sold through two channels: pharmacies and the brand's own online shop. The product-line site includes a pharmacy finder alongside the web shop, and the 2019 pharmacy display points to a long-standing presence in that channel. The brand-owned channels are German-language, and the company's shipping arrangements are organised from its base in Erkelenz.

## Recognition

The brand lists two external endorsements for the Intensiv Pflegecreme on its own product page. According to iQlind, the German consumer magazine ÖKO-TEST gave the cream an overall rating of "sehr gut" (very good) in its March 2011 issue [7]. The same page states that the cream has been tested and recommended by the Deutscher Allergie- und Asthmabund e.V. (DAAB), the German allergy and asthma association [7]; no year is given for that recommendation. Both endorsements are presented by the company itself. No third-party certifications, such as organic or cruelty-free labels, are documented for the brand.

## Sustainability

Dermikon's environmental measures centre on packaging and shipping. The company says it is a partner in the DHL GoGreen programme and ships all of its goods on a carbon-neutral basis, covering the extra cost itself rather than passing it on to customers [3]. The claim applies to shipping only, not to production.

The company also says it mostly uses multi-purpose shipping boxes that adjust to their contents and need no extra filling material. Rather than wrapping each product carton in cellophane, it seals the tube closures, which it says still gives customers an originally sealed product while producing noticeably less packaging waste.

## Current status

Dermikon is active. Its product-line site shows a live web shop and a steady run of customer notices in 2026, the most recent dated 29 July 2026, when the company announced that its 200 ml washing and shower gel was available again after a short gap [5]. The company remains independently owned and managed from Erkelenz, with Nikola Rau as managing director. No Wikipedia article or coverage in major international beauty publications is known for either Dermikon or iQlind.
