Diar Argan is a Moroccan maker of argan-oil cosmetics, based in Agadir in the Souss Massa region of southern Morocco. The company presents itself as a family business founded by two sisters, Latifa and Samira Boukdour, and describes itself as a "producer and exporter of organic argan oil since 1999" [1]. Its range covers face, body and hair care, with smaller lines for men, tanning and gift boxes, nearly all built around argan oil.

The brand's own pages give more than one starting date, and a Moroccan company directory lists a later registration year for the current legal entity; the differences are set out below. Beyond its own label, Diar Argan manufactures private-label cosmetics for other companies and runs a bookable cosmetics-making workshop in Agadir. The brand is active, with a working web shop and certificate documents added to its website in early 2026.

## Origin & founders

According to the company, Diar Argan grew out of a family rooted in southern Morocco, at the foot of the Souss Massa mountains. The sisters Latifa and Samira Boukdour are described as having been born into "a line of Amazigh women", the Indigenous Berber people of North Africa, and as having grown up with healing rituals and plant knowledge handed down through generations [2]. The brand says the two decided to combine their skills and their attachment to the Moroccan land to build a business around argan oil, aromatic plants and rural know-how.

The founders' names are also listed in a Moroccan business directory, which gives Latifa Boukdour as manager and Samira Boukdour as sales manager of the operating company [9]. That company is registered as Diar Argan (Diar Idder), a limited-liability company (S.a.r.l.) on the trade register of Taroudant.

### Founding date

The website states "since 1999" in the header of every page, and its footer repeats that argan oil has been exported since that year [1]. The page describing the company's workshop, however, calls it "a cosmetics manufacturer established in 1997" [8]. The site does not explain the gap; one possible reading is that 1997 marks the start of cosmetics making and 1999 the start of exports, but the company does not say so. This article follows 1999, the date the brand repeats most often.

A third year appears in the directory listing, which records the company's creation as 2018 [9]. That entry most likely refers to the registration of the present legal entity rather than to the brand's origins.

## Headquarters & production

The brand gives its main address as premises at the Hotel Mabrouk in Agadir and names a second site, also called Diar Idder, about 35 kilometres from the city in the rural commune of Idder [7]. The directory places the registered seat in Idder, in Taroudant province, rather than in Agadir itself [9]. Matching telephone numbers across the two sources indicate that they describe the same business.

The company says its products are made in Morocco from start to finish: the argan is harvested, processed and packaged there. Diar Argan describes how its original family workshop developed over the years into a laboratory working to ISO 22716, the international standard for Good Manufacturing Practice in cosmetics [2]. The brand also states that its products carry notifications on the EU's Cosmetic Products Notification Portal (CPNP), the database through which cosmetics are registered before being sold in the European Union, as well as registrations with Morocco's medicines and health products agency (AMMPS).

The website shows a set of certificate images, uploaded in February 2026. The certificates are shown only as images, so their holder and scope cannot be read as text on the page.

## Philosophy & positioning

Diar Argan sums up its identity in three words: family, passion and authenticity. In its own words, the founders set out "to offer the world authentic, effective skincare products made with respect for nature and the women who cultivate it". The company frames its work as a meeting of tradition and innovation, and speaks of a commitment to "natural, ethical, and sustainable beauty". No concrete sustainability targets are published.

The brand's French-language about page adds that Diar Argan is a registered trademark and calls the company one of the first Moroccan firms specialising in the manufacture, packaging and export of certified organic argan oil and its derivatives. That description comes from the company itself and has not been independently confirmed. The same page says the full range is not tested on animals; no third-party cruelty-free certification, such as Leaping Bunny, is documented.

Diar Argan sells both to individual customers and to professionals. The company says it supplies businesses that want to resell its products or use them in beauty institutes and spas.

## Products & innovation

The company says it has developed around 80 products. Pure argan oil sits at the centre of the range, sold in separate versions for face, body and hair. Diar Argan explains that its cosmetic argan oil comes from a first cold pressing, a method intended to preserve the oil's natural antioxidants. It also produces a food-grade argan oil for cooking, which sits alongside the cosmetics.

The products featured on the brand's homepage show how argan is paired with other ingredients. They include:

- **100% Organic Pure Argan Regenerating Oil**, which the brand labels as certified by Ecocert COSMOS
- **Organic Argan & Prickly Pears Seeds Oil Lifting Serum**, combining argan with prickly pear seed oil, an oil pressed from the seeds of the cactus fruit
- **Organic Argan & Prickly Pears Seeds Butter Night Cream – Youth**
- **Organic Argan & Saffron Anti-Ageing Exfoliating Foaming Mask**
- **Organic Argan & Vitamin C Lightening Face Serum**

Other homepage products pair argan with sweet orange in a day cream, with tea tree in a detoxifying mask, with vanilla in a face serum, and with vitamins E, A and K in an eye-contour serum. Products offered through other retailers include a hair mask with argan and seven essential oils, body oils with aloe vera, carrot or honey, a massage oil with thyme and a natural mask made with ghassoul, a Moroccan clay.

### Certifications

Diar Argan says its argan oils are certified organic by Ecocert, the French organic certification body, and that both its cosmetic and its food-grade oils carry that label [2]. The COSMOS standard, an international benchmark for organic and natural cosmetics, is named on the pure argan oil. These claims are made by the company; the certificates on its website are displayed as images only.

For the European market, the company says it holds authorisations from France's medicines agency (ANSM) and consumer-protection authority (DGCCRF), along with poison-centre notifications, for the ten main products in its range.

### Private label and workshop

Alongside its own brand, Diar Argan manufactures argan-based cosmetics under other companies' names. The company invites businesses that want to launch their own brand to send a request, after which it supplies details on products, sizes, minimum order quantities and delivery times [5]. It describes its production facilities as new and adapted to such orders.

The company also sells places on a natural cosmetics-making workshop in Agadir, offered through its web shop like any other product.

## Distribution

The company says it exports to Europe, Asia and other parts of the world, and holds an export approval from Morocco's export control body, EACCE, under number 3379. It states that its products are now distributed in more than 20 countries [2].

The resellers it names are shops in tourist settings: a hotel shop in Agadir, a shop in Marrakech and an argan shop at a club resort in Agadir. Diar Argan products are also sold by online beauty retailers, including Perfumes Club, whose brand page describes Diar Argan as a hair care brand [10]. The products that retailer lists, however, are mostly face and body care, in line with the brand's own range.

The directory entry describes a small business with fewer than ten employees.

## Recognition

Diar Argan reports that its food-grade argan oil was awarded the "Meilleur Goût du monde" (best taste in the world) distinction by the International Taste and Quality Institute (ITQI) in Brussels in 2010 [2]. The award concerns the culinary oil, not the cosmetics.

The brand's press page shows scans of two magazine articles, captioned in Arabic. According to the captions, the Danish magazine ALT wrote about the brand's oil and its results against wrinkles and dark spots, and the French magazine Génération Santé wrote about the benefits of its products [3]. The scans are undated, and neither article could be traced independently.

## Current status

Diar Argan is active. Its website runs a working shop with current prices, offers its private-label service and takes bookings for its Agadir workshop. Certificate documents were added to the site in February 2026, the most recent dated activity. The company keeps a Facebook page under the name "diarargancoop".
