# DinoSan ## Facts | | | |---|---| | Origin | Germany | | Headquarters | Waltrop | | Status | Defunct | | Distribution | Pharmacy | DinoSan is a defunct line of balms, creams, gels and bath products that was sold through the German pharmacy channel, with each item registered under a pharmacy product number (PZN). Pharmacies name DinoPharm GmbH as the manufacturer. That company was placed into liquidation in October 2023 [7], and DinoSan products have since been withdrawn from pharmacy sale. Little is documented about the brand itself. Its launch year and founders are unknown, and no brand-authored statement of its philosophy or aims is publicly available. ## History & milestones The dates that exist belong to the manufacturer, DinoPharm Gesellschaft für pharmazeutische und kosmetische Produkte mbH, not to the DinoSan line, and they do not agree. The company database Implisense gives a founding date of 27 December 1990 [6]. The register aggregator North Data instead lists an earliest announcement dated 7 August 2003, recording the company's registration as a GmbH with share capital of €255,646 [7]. That sum corresponds to DM 500,000 at the fixed euro conversion rate, which points to a company older than the euro. DinoPharm's registered business purpose was broader than cosmetics. It covered trade in electrical and electronic devices and in pharmaceutical and medical supplies, alongside the manufacture and distribution of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. The last dated event is the liquidation. A commercial-register entry of 12 October 2023 at the Recklinghausen local court named Klaus Lieske as liquidator, while managing directors Rainer Kassubek and Udo Penner left office [7]. The liquidation itself was announced on 18 October 2023. ## Products & innovation The range mixed sports-recovery products with everyday care. Its Pferdebalsam (literally "horse balm"), sold as a body balm in 50 ml and 500 ml sizes, was described by the online pharmacy Shop Apotheke as cooling and relaxing after strain and fatigue, including after sport [3]. The companion Pferde-Gel akut was presented as a strongly cooling gel for rubbing into the hips, knees, ankles and wrists [4]. A pharmacy price-comparison site lists fifteen DinoSan items [2]. Beyond the balm and gel, they included Melkfett (a rich milking-grease cream), a foot balm, a leg lotion and a callus balm. Face care came as Pura sanft Q10 Aufbaucreme, a Vitamin Creme and a red vine leaf cream gel, Rotes Weinlaub Creme Gel. Hand care covered Die zarte Handcreme and a urea version, and the bath products included a flower bath and a thyme bath for children. ## Current status DinoSan is defunct. According to North Data, its manufacturer has been in liquidation since October 2023 [7]. The register directory Firminform still described the company as active in a profile last updated on 20 October 2023 [8]. A German GmbH in liquidation continues to exist legally until it is deleted from the register, so the two descriptions do not strictly contradict each other. At pharmacy level the products are gone. Shop Apotheke marks the 50 ml Pferdebalsam as no longer on the market [3] and no longer carries the 500 ml Pferde-Gel akut [4], while apohealth.de shows the balm as sold out [5]. The domain dinopharm.de, which pharmacy pages give as the manufacturer's website, now returns only a web host's default page [1], and no dedicated DinoSan website is online. ## Timeline {#belagg-timeline} | Year | Event | Source | |---|---|---| | 1990 | Founding date of the manufacturer DinoPharm Gesellschaft für pharmazeutische und kosmetische Produkte mbH given as 27.12.1990 (company date, not a documented DinoSan brand launch date).
