Efasit is a German foot-care brand that has been on the market since 1938 [2]. It was created as a product line of Togal-Werk, a Munich pharmaceutical company that made the Togal pain tablets [6]. Written in lower case as "efasit" in its own branding, it covers everyday foot creams and balms, callus and cracked-heel treatments, foot deodorants and powders, and a solution for nail fungus.

Efasit is no longer owned by the company that launched it. In 2019 Kyberg Pharma Vertriebs-GmbH bought the brand, together with the Togal and flint brands, from TOGAL-WERK AG [2], and it now sits within the family-owned Kyberg Group in Oberhaching, in the district of Munich. The brand remains commercially active under its new owner, with new products released every year from 2022 to 2025.

## Origin & founders

Togal-Werk was founded in Munich in 1914 by Gerhard F. Schmidt to make and sell the Togal tablet, a pain reliever [6]. Efasit was added to the company's portfolio in 1938, which the brand's own timeline records simply as its market launch. No individual creator of the line is named by the company or in other published accounts.

The pharmaceutical background still shapes how the brand presents itself. Its owner says Efasit has its roots in the pharmacy and draws on pharmaceutical know-how, and the tagline on its website calls it "the specialist for beautiful, well-cared-for feet since 1938". Between 1938 and 1959, according to the company, its advertising used a rhyming German slogan that roughly translates as "don't let your feet go to seed; care for them, cream them, powder them."

## History & milestones

Under Togal-Werk, Efasit became a well-established name in German foot care, although accounts differ on how far that went. The brand's own timeline states that by 1980 Efasit was "one of the leading brands" in foot care in Germany [2]. The German Wikipedia article on Togal-Werk is more emphatic, saying the company became the market leader in foot care in 1980 on the strength of its Efasit products [6].

The parent company's later years were turbulent. According to Wikipedia, Togal-Werk ran into difficulties in 2008 after mismanagement by two of its executives. In 2009 Günther J. Schmidt, the founder's son, who had run the business since 1960, handed the majority of the shares to KHW, an investment company owned by the Munich lawyer Karl-Heinz Weiss, and the company was reorganised [6]. The Efasit, Togal and flint brands were sold to Kyberg Pharma in 2019. Togal-Werk AG itself existed until 2020 and has traded since March 2021 as TW Beteiligungen GmbH, solely to manage its remaining assets and its obligations to former employees.

Under Kyberg, the brand was given a new design in June 2022, when two foot foams were also introduced, one for dry skin and one for calluses. Further launches followed at a steady pace:

- **April 2023:** a cream for very sensitive and dry skin, also intended for feet affected by eczema, and an anti-blister gel.
- **April 2024:** a foot cream with a built-in sponge applicator, which the company says avoids sticky hands, plus an adhesive sealant and an ointment for cracked heels.
- **February 2025:** a nail-fungus solution.
- **August 2025:** a quick-action callus remover, the latest entry in the brand's own timeline.

## Ownership

Efasit belongs to Kyberg Pharma Vertriebs-GmbH. The date of the change of ownership is reported differently. The brand's own timeline places the purchase of Efasit, Togal and flint from TOGAL-WERK AG in 2019 [2]. The information box of the German Wikipedia article on Togal-Werk instead gives the company's dissolution as "around 2009", citing a takeover by the Kyberg Group as the reason [6]. That date sits awkwardly with the same article's main text, which says Togal-Werk AG existed until 2020 and that the 2009 share sale went to KHW rather than to Kyberg. This article follows the brand's 2019 date for the acquisition.

According to Kyberg, the group was founded in Munich in 1969 by the pharmacist Dr. Herbert Lix and is now run in the second generation by his sons Thomas and Stephan Lix [2]. It specialises in own brands, trading and logistics services for the healthcare market. The group's companies are Kyberg Pharma, Kyberg Medical, Kyberg Vital and Pharmacare, and its brands include Togal, the flint spray-plaster brand, Aminoplus and OrthoDoc alongside Efasit.

## Philosophy & positioning

Efasit describes its mission as making healthy, well-cared-for feet possible for an active lifestyle. The company sums up its approach in a five-point quality promise: more than 85 years of experience in foot care, professional foot care with high-quality products, good skin compatibility through dermatologically tested formulas, branded products at an attractive price-to-performance ratio, and vegan recipes. Its own phrase for the idea is "professional foot care for everyone".

The company says all its products are dermatologically tested and that every product in the current range is vegan, containing no animal-derived ingredients. Development takes place in Germany; according to the brand, most production is also carried out in Germany, with the remainder in neighbouring countries. No third-party certifications are documented.

The brand sits in the affordable, everyday segment of the market. It sells through its own online shop and points customers to other retailers through a shop finder on its website.

## Products & innovation

The current range is organised around foot problems rather than product types, in four groups: general foot care, calluses and cracked skin, foot hygiene and odour control, and special foot problems. A product finder on the brand's website matches products to foot types such as normal, dry, calloused or cracked.

For general care, the Fuß Balsam (foot balm) is a moisturiser with jojoba and rosemary oil. The Fuß Schaum Trockene Haut, a foam for dry feet, combines 10% urea with glycerin, aloe vera and allantoin. Urea is a common moisturising ingredient that also helps soften hardened skin.

The Hornhaut Sofort-Entferner, an instant callus remover launched in August 2025, is the product the brand currently features most prominently. Efasit says it leaves feet free of callus after 10 minutes and works from the first use, without filing or scraping [4]. The liquid is applied on cotton pads and left to soak into the hardened skin for 10 to 20 minutes, after which the softened callus is removed with an enclosed spatula. Its listed ingredients include sodium hydroxide, urea, glycerin and panthenol, and the company describes it as suitable for people with diabetes.

For odour and sweat, the range includes a foot deodorant with what the company calls a 24-hour effect, a stronger antiperspirant version promising 48 hours of dryness, a foot and body powder that binds sweat and moisture, a shoe deodorant and a foot bath with essential oils, now also sold in single-use sachets. The Nagelpilz Lösung, launched in February 2025, is intended to treat nail-fungus infections; according to the brand, it improves the appearance of the nails and protects against reinfection [2].

Some products reported in earlier press coverage, such as the Classic foot balm and the cooling Eis Gel, do not appear in the range the brand currently lists.

## Recognition

Efasit's independent coverage comes mainly from ÖKO-TEST, a German consumer magazine that tests products for problematic ingredients. In June 2020 the pharmacy-trade site PTA IN LOVE reported that Efasit Classic Fußbalsam was among the foot balms rated "very good" in an ÖKO-TEST comparison of 20 products [8].

In August 2024 the German magazine OK! reported that ÖKO-TEST had given the brand's Eis Gel, a cooling foot gel, an overall rating of "very good"; it was one of five out of 14 cooling foot gels to receive the top grade [9]. The magazine noted that the gel contained no critical ingredients and used grapefruit and menthol for its cooling effect.

ÖKO-TEST again included the Efasit foot balm, listed under Kyberg Pharma, in a test of 27 foot creams and balms published in its August 2026 issue [7]. The magazine's public summary of that test does not state the product's individual rating.

## Current status

Efasit is an acquired brand that remains active. It has been owned by Kyberg Pharma since 2019 and continues as one of the Kyberg Group's consumer brands. Its most recent launch, the callus remover introduced in August 2025, followed annual product releases since 2022, and the brand's website is maintained with a copyright notice running to 2026. The website is in German and no official social media accounts are linked from it.
