Gynofit is a Swiss line of intimate and vaginal care products made for women, ranging from lactic-acid and moisturising vaginal gels to washes, wipes, an intimate spray, pelvic-floor balls and a probiotic. It belongs to Tentan AG, a family-run health-products company based in Itingen, in the Swiss canton of Basel-Landschaft, which operates the brand's website and lists Gynofit among its own brands [3][8].

The brand sits closer to pharmacy self-care than to classic beauty. Its message is built around the vaginal flora and its natural acidity, and around the idea, in the company's words, that "a woman's intimate area should not be a taboo subject" [4]. Gynofit is sold mainly through pharmacies and drugstores, as well as in Migros and Coop supermarkets and through its own online shop. The brand remains active, with new articles published on its website through 2026.

## Origin & founders

Little is publicly known about how Gynofit began. Neither the brand nor its owner states when the line was launched or who developed it, and its founding year remains unknown. What is documented is the company behind it. Tentan AG was founded in 1989 in Ramlinsburg, Basel-Landschaft, by Michel Schaer, a step its group history describes as the first chapter of the Schaer Pharma story [8]. That date belongs to the owner, not to Gynofit itself.

Michel Schaer is also named as owner on the legal notice of the Gynofit website, which gives Tentan AG's address in Itingen as the brand's home [3].

## Ownership

Gynofit is owned by Tentan AG, the core company of a Swiss group that presents itself under the name Schaer Pharma. The group describes Tentan as an owner-led family business that relies on the know-how of its team, and says that roughly three quarters of its employees trained in health professions [9].

Over three decades the group expanded partly through acquisitions. Its published timeline lists the takeover of OTC Pharma in 1998, Ars Vitae in 2002, Kräuter-Pfarrer Künzle in 2007 and Eduard Vogt in 2008, followed by New Care in 2012 [9]. In 2009 it moved into a new company building in Itingen and set up subsidiaries in Germany and Hong Kong, adding a British one in 2010. In 2020 and 2021 several of the acquired companies were merged into other group companies, including Tentan AG itself.

Gynofit shares its owner with a handful of other Swiss over-the-counter brands. The group's brand page places it alongside GEM/Haspe cough and cold products, the Leucen skin care range for stressed skin, the pine-bark leg product Pinus Pygenol and Eduard Vogt skin care, and describes Gynofit as gentle cleansing and care for the female intimate area [8]. At group level, the company says it works with selected partners in more than 40 countries, although it does not name the markets where Gynofit itself is sold [10].

## Philosophy & positioning

Gynofit frames its products around the vaginal flora, which the brand describes as made up mainly of lactic acid bacteria that keep the vaginal environment acidic, at a pH between 3.8 and 4.5. In the company's account, that acidity is the body's natural defence against unwanted germs, and it is easily disturbed. Much of the brand's material deals with common complaints such as yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, dryness, itching and odour, and Gynofit presents its range as a way to support the flora and restore balance.

Its tone is direct and everyday rather than clinical. The German tagline, "Gynofit – und nichts nervt mehr", roughly translates as "Gynofit, and nothing bothers you any more". The English site opens with the line "We care about the well-being of every woman" [2]. Hygiene advice sits alongside the products: change towels often, always wipe from front to back, and avoid vaginal douching.

Openness about intimate health is a recurring theme. Gynofit's website hosts a long-running blog that covers subjects from menstruation, menopause and pelvic-floor training to intimate shaving, sweating during sport and pain during sex. Recent posts have dealt with skin changes in the intimate area during menopause and with new research on the clitoris. In 2026 the brand also wrote about the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk, a women's health event.

In 2024 Gynofit published the "Gynofit Frauenstudie 2024", a survey of more than 1,100 women of different ages about their intimate care habits [6]. According to the brand, the study looked at where women get their information, how they shop, the influence of social media, and taboo subjects such as symptoms and self-treatment. The company says the results show how important intimate care is to many women and where barriers and taboos remain. The research partner and the country where the survey was run are not stated.

## Products & innovation

The range covers both treatment-style products and everyday care. Besides the Lactic Acid Vaginal Gel and the Moisturising Vaginal Gel, it includes an intimate care oil and cream, a mild wash lotion, a cleansing bar, a wash foam, an intimate spray, intimate care wipes, pelvic-floor training balls sold as Smartball Duo with a matching Smart-Gel, and a supplement called Probiotic Neo.

The Lactic Acid Vaginal Gel is the brand's best-documented product. Gynofit says it was developed in collaboration with gynaecologists to restore a healthy balance in the vaginal flora quickly, and that it can be used to treat various vaginal infections, as a preventive measure and during antibiotic treatment [5]. The company states that the gel counteracts itching, burning and unpleasant odour, and that symptoms should start to ease within four to six hours. It comes with an applicator, is meant to be used in the evening while lying down, and is described as suitable for use with condoms. The brand recommends its probiotic as a complement to the gel.

Lactic acid is the range's central ingredient. Gynofit says the lactic acid in the gel is produced from natural ingredients and that the formula is free of hormones and fragrance. The published ingredient list combines lactic acid and sodium lactate with glycogen, glycerin and cellulose-based thickeners.

The independent product database Codecheck gives the gel's maker as Tentan and its origin as Switzerland and classes it as not vegan, because the glycogen it contains is of animal origin [11]. Gynofit itself makes no vegan claim. No third-party certifications for the brand are documented.

## Current status

Gynofit is active. Its website is maintained in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Croatian, and the brand published new blog posts monthly through much of 2026, with the most recent appearing around September 2026 [7]. Its social media accounts carry Swiss names, and Switzerland remains its documented home market, while the owner group reports export partners in many other countries.
