It was launched in 2018 by Regena Ney, the cosmetics and food-supplement subsidiary of the vitOrgan pharmaceuticals group, a family-owned company based in Ostfildern, Germany [2]. Rather than a stand-alone company, NeyHair is one range within a larger group whose main business is injectable preparations made from animal organ extracts. The tonic is closely tied to that parent business. Alongside ten plant extracts and two B vitamins, it contains the Biomolecular vitOrgan Complex H, which the company says holds cell extracts from cutis (skin), placenta and aorta [5]. The product is aimed at people dealing with hair loss and thinning hair, and it is sold over the counter in pharmacies and through vitOrgan's own online store. ## Origin & founders No individual founder is named for NeyHair itself. The line grew out of a company with a long history. vitOrgan was established in 1954 by the physician Prof. Dr. med. Karl Eugen Theurer, who, according to the company, had become interested in genetics and developmental biology while studying medicine in Freiburg [2]. From that interest he developed what the group calls Biomolecular vitOrgan therapy, the approach that still underpins its medicines, supplements and cosmetics. In 1972 vitOrgan founded the subsidiary Regena Ney to handle cosmetic products and food supplements [2]. The same year the founder's son, Dr. med. Karl Georg Theurer, joined the company, a step the group describes as the start of the move to its second generation. Regena Ney is the entity under which NeyHair was later introduced; the group's own pages spell the name both as "Regena Ney" and "RegenaNey". ## History & milestones Much of the NeyHair story is the story of its parent group. vitOrgan placed its first injection preparations for human and veterinary use on the German market in 1967, and the range has since grown to almost 70 such products. A second subsidiary, Innovapharm, followed in 1988 with a series that combines the group's organ extracts with Bach flower essences. In the 2010s the group modernized its production. It began a modernization of its cleanroom area in 2012, set up production in its own sterile area in 2014, and opened its own analytical laboratory in 2016. In 2017 it added the NeyVit food supplements. NeyHair arrived the following year. In 2018, Regena Ney widened its cosmetic range with the market launch of NeyHair Vital Hair Tonic, which remains the only product sold under the name [2]. In 2021 Dominic Theurer, the founder's grandson, took over the management of all the group's companies [2]. vitOrgan marked its 70th anniversary in 2024. ## Ownership NeyHair belongs to Regena Ney, which is one of three companies in the vitOrgan pharmaceuticals group [4]. The other two are vitOrgan Arzneimittel, the core company behind the injectable organ-extract medicines, and Innovapharm, which makes the Bach flower series. Together the three companies offer more than 100 preparations, according to the group. The legal notice on the group's website names vitOrgan Arzneimittel GmbH, with an address in Ostfildern, as the operating company [8]. vitOrgan describes itself as an independent family business now in its third generation, and no sale of NeyHair or Regena Ney to an outside owner has been reported. The group's management lists Dominic Theurer as managing partner and Jürgen Leist as managing director. ## Philosophy & positioning NeyHair takes the group's cell-extract approach and applies it to the scalp. The group says Regena Ney's care products "are based on the same active principle of biomolecular vitOrgan therapy" as its medicines [4], and Regena Ney presents itself with the slogan "Effects you can see and feel!" That principle rests on organ extracts of animal origin. vitOrgan explains that it uses neither fresh cells nor the complete contents of cells, but only selected components of the cell plasma, which it says carry the factors a cell needs to function and renew itself. The company describes its wider aim as restoring organs and organ functions by stimulating the metabolism inside cells, and calls this a regulatory cell therapy. For NeyHair, this translates into a product positioned against hair loss and thinning hair. vitOrgan says the tonic "acts directly in the hair root and can strengthen hair growth" [5]. The company does not cite clinical studies in support of this claim. ## Products & innovation The line's one product is NeyHair Vital Hair Tonic, sold in German as NeyHair Vital-Haarwasser in a 200 ml bottle. It belongs to the product category the group calls "hair restorer", a leave-in liquid that is massaged into the scalp rather than rinsed out. According to vitOrgan, the formula combines plant extracts of birch, yarrow, burdock, arnica, boxwood, lavender, mulberry, rosemary, thyme and nettle with panthenol (provitamin B5) and niacin (vitamin B3). The company singles out the Biomolecular vitOrgan Complex H as the ingredient that gives the tonic its particular value. The German product text states that this complex is made with animal cell extracts, and the ingredient list names pigskin extract, placental extract and aorta extract [7]. Because of these animal-derived ingredients the tonic is not vegan, and the company makes no vegan or cruelty-free claim for it. The company describes the tonic as free of silicones, isopropyl alcohol, colourants and preservatives. Denatured alcohol, a different form of alcohol, heads the ingredient list, so the product is free of one type of alcohol rather than alcohol altogether. vitOrgan states that NeyHair is made in Germany under strict pharmaceutical quality and safety standards [7]. No third-party certifications are documented for the product. As for use, a German review blog on hair-growth products describes massaging the tonic into the scalp twice a day with light pressure, and notes that it can be applied to either dry or wet scalp [10]. ## Current status NeyHair is active. As of September 2026 the Vital Hair Tonic was presented on vitOrgan's German and English websites and listed as available in the group's online store [7]. It is sold over the counter through pharmacies and directly by vitOrgan [5]. The line has no separate website or social media accounts of its own; it appears only within vitOrgan's site, and the social channels linked there belong to the group.
