ProntoLind is a German line of aftercare products for piercings and tattoos. It is made by Prontomed GmbH, a medical and cosmetic manufacturer based in Hiddenhausen in the East Westphalia region of Germany [3]. The range consists of a small set of sprays, solutions, a gel and a foam, all built around an antiseptic ingredient called polyhexanide, and it is aimed at people healing from a new piercing or tattoo.

The brand sits at an unusual point between the clinic and the tattoo studio. Its maker presents it as a medical-style answer to studio aftercare, and its products are sold both through tattoo and piercing studios and through pharmacies [5]. The line remains on sale, with its product pages updated as recently as April 2026.

## Origin & founders

ProntoLind did not start as an independent brand. It is one of several product lines developed by Prontomed, which dates its own founding to 1998 and says it has developed and manufactured exclusively in Germany since then [1]. That year belongs to the company, not to the aftercare line, and the manufacturer gives no separate launch date for ProntoLind. The brand's website carries a copyright notice running from 2007, and the company has described itself as a leader in piercing care "for over 10 years", but neither statement fixes the year the line first appeared.

No individual founder of the line is named. The company's legal notice lists Jörn Gahrig and Frederick Laker as managing directors of Prontomed GmbH [3].

## Ownership

ProntoLind is owned by Prontomed GmbH, which presents it as one of its in-house brands rather than a licensed or acquired one [12]. Prontomed describes its wider business as developing, manufacturing and marketing medical, cosmetic and hygiene products for clinics, medical practices, beauty and home care.

The company's portfolio places ProntoLind next to a foot-care line called ProntoMan and a skincare range sold under the Prontomed name, alongside a private-label offering [13]. Prontomed states that it is certified to the DIN ISO 9001 and EN 13485 quality-management standards and that all its products are made under GMP (good manufacturing practice) guidelines [2]. These are company-level certificates for how products are made and managed, not ethical or ingredient labels.

## Philosophy & positioning

The brand's message is that a professional piercing deserves professional care. Its German tagline translates as "Tattoo and piercing care without compromise", and the company says the line brings clinical know-how into the studios.

Prontomed is not modest about the line's standing. On the ProntoLind website, the company says leading studios have recommended its products exclusively for ten years and that its formulas have been a first choice worldwide for many years. The parent company's own homepage goes further and calls ProntoLind the number one in piercing care [13]. These are the manufacturer's own claims; no independent ranking or market data supporting them is documented.

The brand frames itself around a short list of values: skin tolerance, no animal testing, fully vegan formulas, manufacture in Germany, and availability in pharmacies. ProntoLind states that all of its products are vegan and that animal testing has never been part of their development. No third-party vegan or cruelty-free certification is documented.

## Products & innovation

The range is compact. It covers six products, each aimed at a particular stage or type of healing.

The central product is ProntoLind Spray, a 75 ml spray for all kinds of piercings. According to the brand, it works its way into the piercing channel by itself and reaches areas that are hard to clean, so crusts can then be wiped away with a cotton swab or compress. ProntoLind Drip Solution, in a 20 ml bottle, is offered as an alternative to the spray with the same cleaning role.

ProntoLind Gel, sold in 10 ml tubes, is meant for areas that are covered with a bandage after piercing, such as skin divers, dermal anchors and microdermal implants. The company also suggests it for nose and ear piercings because it stays in place, and as a lubricant and stretching aid when fitting tunnels and plugs.

For oral piercings, the line includes a 250 ml mouth rinse and a pocket-sized 75 ml mouth spray with a menthol flavour. The brand says the rinse supports healing after tongue and lip piercings and contains no chlorhexidine, sugar or alcohol. The one tattoo product is ProntoLind Tattoo Care Foam, a 100 ml foam that the company says cleans and protects freshly tattooed skin and helps keep the colours bright.

### Polyhexanide

What ties the range together is a polyhexanide-betaine complex. Polyhexanide (also known as PHMB) is an antiseptic compound, and Prontomed names PHMB as one of two core technologies it works with, the other being a process it calls ECA [13]. The company calls itself one of the world's leading companies in polyhexanide technology [2].

The manufacturer makes several claims about how the formulas behave. It says ProntoLind can be used without a time limit and is compatible with all materials used in piercing jewellery. It says the products clean without drying the skin and without stinging or itching, and that a modified surface tension lets the liquid reach every part of the jewellery and skin. In its answers to customer questions, the brand goes further and states that ProntoLind removes the biofilm and all bacteria from the piercing channel and the jewellery [5]. These are the company's own statements; no independent clinical study of the products is documented.

### Skin testing

ProntoLind reports that its skin tolerance was rated "very good", the top grade, by the testing institute Dermatest [1]. The brand describes Dermatest as an independent institute, and the manufacturer refers readers to the institute's own website for details of the test method.

## Recognition

Outside the company's own materials, ProntoLind's clearest footprint is in the advice studios give their clients. Piercing Studio Wien, a piercing studio in Vienna, lists ProntoLind Gel and ProntoLind Spray as its recommended healing products in its online piercing guide [14]. The studio's routine for external piercings is to spray on the solution, leave it for 30 seconds, wipe it clean, then apply the gel, twice a day for three weeks and once a day for three weeks after that. It also suggests the spray for removing the normal secretions that form around a healing piercing.

Marc-André Stingel of Piercing Studio Wien also appears among the endorsements shown on ProntoLind's English-language website. No awards or major press coverage of the brand are documented.

## Current status

ProntoLind is an active brand. Its product pages were updated in April 2026 [11], and the range is sold through the owner's online shop, through tattoo and piercing studios and through pharmacies. The brand runs German- and English-language websites, a studio finder, and a partner programme for studios and wholesalers.

Other parts of its online presence have been quieter. The brand's blog has not published a new post since February 2020 [6], and its calendar of tattoo and piercing conventions is still headed with events for 2021. The website also hosts an A-to-Z guide to caring for different types of piercing, from eyebrow and navel piercings to more specialised body modifications.
