Summary

Overview

Allergika is a German skincare and allergy-care brand made by Allergika Pharma GmbH, a company based in Wolfratshausen, a town in Upper Bavaria south of Munich. It makes creams, lotions and medical-device treatments for sensitive, atopic and allergy-prone skin, and it also sells allergen-proof covers for mattresses and bedding aimed at people with house-dust-mite allergy. The range is sold mainly through pharmacies, alongside the company's own online shop.

The brand has been acquired. In 2022 the Swedish pharmaceutical company Avia Pharma bought all shares in Allergika Pharma from its previous sole shareholder [6]. Allergika continues to trade under its own name and remained visibly active in 2026.

Origin & founders

No founders of Allergika are publicly named, and the company tells no founding story of its own. Its origins are usually described only in terms of how long it has existed, and those figures do not agree.

A company database run by Bavaria's state trade-promotion service gives 1991 as the year the company was founded [9]. A legal trade report from August 2022, by contrast, described Allergika Pharma as having been founded "25 years ago" [6], which would point to a later date. The brand's own website adds a further layer: its brand-history page speaks of "more than 30 years" of work [2], while its homepage says "more than 25 years" [1]. No single founding year is confirmed by the company itself.

What is clearer is where the business sits. The legal notice on the brand's website places Allergika Pharma GmbH at an address in Wolfratshausen and lists it in the commercial register of the Munich district court [4]. Older directory entries, which predate the 2022 sale, named Hartmut Bannert, Dr. Michael Ernd and Verena Bannert as managing directors, with Hartmut Bannert described as managing partner [10]. By 2026 the company's management consisted of Stefan Lang as chief executive and Dr. Michael Ernd.

Ownership

For most of its history Allergika Pharma was privately owned. The Bavarian company database describes it as "a privately owned German pharmaceutical company based near Munich", specialising in the prevention and treatment of skin diseases and dust-mite allergy [9].

That changed in 2022. According to a deal report published by the German legal news site LTO on 29 August 2022, Avia Pharma acquired all shares in Allergika Pharma, and the previous sole shareholder sold his stake in full [6]. In the same transaction Avia also bought all shares in two related firms, AllergoSkin GmbH and Sachmed GmbH, a distributor of medical products; both belonged to the same owner or his family. The purchase price was not disclosed. The law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised the seller, while Rödl & Partner acted for Avia Pharma.

At the time of the deal, LTO described Allergika Pharma as a mid-sized company with 70 employees, offering cosmetic and medical products for people with skin diseases and skin problems. Avia Pharma, for its part, was a Swedish company that until then had operated only in Scandinavia, with a focus on women's health, urology, dermatology and over-the-counter medicines.

The brand's 2026 legal notice names Allergika Pharma GmbH as the operating company and does not refer to Avia Pharma. No later change of ownership has been reported.

Philosophy & positioning

Allergika presents itself as an allergy specialist. On its homepage the company describes itself as a specialist "for the protection of sensitive, atopic and allergic skin and for allergen-free sleep" [1]. The German tagline, "Spezialisiert auf endlich frei!", roughly translates as "specialised in finally being free", and the idea of freedom from itching, burning and uncertainty runs through the brand's writing.

The brand's positioning rests less on what its products contain than on what they leave out. According to Allergika, its dermocosmetics, medical devices and medicines are free from fragrance, colourants, preservatives, parabens and natural allergens, and they also avoid the most common contact allergens on the list of the German Contact Allergy Group (Deutsche Kontaktallergie-Gruppe, DKG) [1]. The company adds that its products are tested by dermatologists and allergists, and that their skin tolerance has been clinically confirmed on atopic skin.

Allergika frames its work in medical terms. Its vision page says all of its products are based on dermatological research, and it states its aim as offering "hope and real solutions" to people living with sensitive or stressed skin. The same page sets out the scale of the problem as the brand sees it: an estimated 20 to 30 million people in Germany with an allergy, and, depending on the study, up to 10 to 15 percent of children with atopic eczema. The company says its range covers every stage of life, from babies to adults.

The brand lists six values on its brand-history page: specialised and science-based care, freedom and quality of life, skin tolerance and safety, innovation and progress, trust and responsibility, and sustainability and mindfulness. Under the last heading it mentions resource-saving production, more sustainable packaging and ingredients chosen with the future in mind, though it does not give measurable targets. All products are described as "Made in Germany".

Products & innovation

Allergika's skincare is organised by skin condition rather than by product type. The company's website groups it under sensitive skin, skin affected by chemotherapy or radiotherapy, neurodermatitis (the German term for atopic eczema), allergic skin, dry skin, eczema, and redness and rosacea. A second grouping sorts the range by area of the body: face and eyes, body, scalp and hair, sun protection, and babies and children.

Several of the brand's best-known products carry the suffix "MED", which marks treatments sold as medical devices rather than as cosmetics. The Gesichtscreme MED (face cream) is described by the company as a cortisone-free treatment for dry eczema on the face, easing redness, flaking and dryness. The Augenlidcreme MED is a richer cream for eczema of the eyelids, also cortisone-free. The Anti-Rötung Rosacea Creme MED LSF 15 is a medical device for the symptoms of rosacea and couperose, a condition marked by visible small blood vessels, and includes sun protection factor 15. The Sensitive Hydrolotion AKUT is a moisturising lotion that the brand presents as emergency care for itchy, irritated or dry skin and for neurodermatitis.

The company makes strong clinical claims for some of these products. It says its clinically tested Rosacea Creme MED leaves "95 percent free of redness in only four weeks" [1], and that its eczema medical devices reduce symptoms by 50 percent within a week. Urea, a moisture-binding ingredient widely used for very dry skin, appears in the names of the Lipolotion products, which are offered in 5 percent and 10 percent strengths. Beyond urea, the brand says little about key active ingredients; its own descriptions focus on tolerance and on the substances it avoids.

The second pillar of the business is dust-mite protection. Allergika sells encasings, allergen-proof covers that go between the mattress or bedding and its outer cover, acting as a physical barrier between the sleeper and the mites living in the bedding. The company links this directly to skin care, arguing that dust mites are often the cause of itching at night. Its Allergika sensitive Encasing Komplett Set is among the products it highlights, and there is also a version for travel. On the brand's site, doctors can request medical certificates for encasings and find information on how the covers can be obtained with a prescription. The Bavarian company database credits Allergika Pharma with the leading market position for anti-dust-mite covers in Germany [9].

Recognition & press

Press coverage of Allergika has come mainly from German outlets. Besides the 2022 LTO report on the Avia Pharma acquisition, the business magazine Wirtschaftsforum carries a company page referring to an interview with Hartmut Bannert, from before the change of ownership.

In July 2026 the German product-test blog Die Testbar published a test of five Allergika products for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin: the Dermifant Kinderlotion REPAIR for children, the Lipolotion 10 % Urea, the Lipolotion 5 % Urea, the Gesichtscreme MED and the Augenlidcreme MED [7]. The post is labelled as an advertisement, and all five testers reported positively on their products, citing good tolerance and moisture.

Current status

Allergika is an acquired brand, owned since 2022 by Avia Pharma and still marketed under its own name by Allergika Pharma GmbH in Wolfratshausen. It was clearly active in 2026: the company ran a webshop with its current range, carried a 2026 copyright notice on its website and took part in a sponsored product test that July. Its products are sold through local and online pharmacies as well as directly through the brand's own shop, and its encasings can also be supplied on prescription.
