Overview
Angry Beards is a Czech men's grooming brand founded in 2017 by Tomáš Čech, who started the company while studying at the Prague University of Economics (VŠE) [1]. It began as a small line of beard cosmetics and has grown into a multi-category men's brand operated from Třebíč, in the Vysočina region, selling beard care, body and shower products, hair care and fragrance across Central Europe.
The company presents itself in plainly irreverent terms, calling its team "the Třebíč gang that cooks for you, packs for you, and amuses you" and describing its purpose as making affordable, quality products alongside attentive service and self-deprecating humour. Most of its founding sources agree on 2017 as the year of inception; one Czech business outlet places the start in 2018 [5], which the brand's own timeline and other reporting treat as the year the founder moved into the business full time rather than the company's beginning.
Origin and founders
Angry Beards traces its origin to a friend's suggestion that Čech import foreign beard cosmetics during the barbershop boom of the mid-2010s. Unimpressed with the products then on the market, he chose to build his own line instead. He has said the existing cosmetics felt "impersonal" and did not speak to ordinary men — "Nebylo tady nic pro 'normální' chlapy" ("There was nothing here for 'normal' guys"). The brand's positioning has stayed close to that idea: grooming for everyday men rather than a premium or fashion audience.
The first products reached customers in December 2017, a set of four beard items — oil, balm, wax and shampoo — produced with the help of an external contract manufacturer. After finishing his studies, Čech returned to his hometown of Třebíč, where the company established its e-shop and warehouse operations.
History and milestones
From a single beard range, the company expanded its catalogue and distribution over the following years, reaching Slovakia and Poland and securing placement with the drugstore chain Rossmann in 2019. In 2022 it took on its first private investors and acquired a large new facility reported at 15,000 square metres [4].
The brand widened beyond men's products in 2023, launching Busy B, a women's cosmetics line created after the company found that female customers were already buying its products, and opening its first physical store in Prague's Myslbek shopping gallery [4]. In 2024 it added Calm B, a men's underwear line, moved into a renovated headquarters, and its founder was named to the Czech edition of Forbes' "30 under 30".
By 2023 the company reported revenue approaching 250 million Czech crowns and a workforce of more than 80 people [4].
Ownership
Angry Beards operates as a Czech limited liability company (s.r.o.). According to Czech Wikipedia, Tomáš Čech is the founder and majority owner, holding about 65.8 percent of the company [4]. The brand's sub-brands Busy B (women's cosmetics) and Calm B are listed as part of the same group.
In 2025 the company acquired Aromatica, a Czech cosmetics manufacturer based in Šlapanice, a move reported as a step toward producing roughly one-fifth of its cosmetic masses in-house rather than relying entirely on outside manufacturing [4].
Philosophy and positioning
The brand frames itself around quality at accessible prices, fast service and humour, summed up in its "BE ANGRY" tagline. The company describes its team as "a constantly growing gang of overgrown kids" and says it aims to make quality products at affordable prices, give strong service, and "entertain ourselves and you in the process." In interviews the founder has described a deliberate softening of the brand's early voice as it grew, moving from what he called a more aggressive young identity toward something less "angry" while keeping the name.
Products are developed in-house and, historically, manufactured externally in the Czech Republic; as Čech put it, "Výrobky vyvíjíme sami a vyrábíme je externě" ("We develop products ourselves and manufacture them externally"). The brand is distributed through its own e-shop and a range of retailers, with reported placement at Rossmann, DM in Slovakia, Notino, Alza and Douglas [5].
Products and innovation
The catalogue spans beard care (oils, balms, waxes and tools), body and intimate men's care, hair care and fragrance. Signature items include the Beard Doping growth treatment, the Jack Saloon cologne and perfume, and the Shavette Žižka razor. The company has reported that its intimate-care product "Calm Balls" and a foot and shoe deodorising spray have been among its best sellers, at times selling faster than it could restock.
For its Doping beard growth product, the brand cites the active ingredient copexil, which it describes as comparatively gentle, together with vanillyl butyl ether and what it calls moisturising and nourishing ingredients. On the question of preservatives in antiperspirants, the company states that it avoids anything "proven to be harmful or banned." No vegan, cruelty-free or third-party certifications are stated on the brand's site or FAQ.
Recognition
Founder Tomáš Čech was named to Forbes' Czech "30 under 30" list in 2024 [4] and was recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year for the Vysočina region in 2025 [7]. The company has been the subject of Czech business features, including a CzechCrunch founder interview on the brand's maturation while scaling toward quarter-billion-crown revenue and a Finmag profile describing it as a student idea that "grew from a garage" toward expansion in Europe.
Current status
Angry Beards is an active and growing company. Its most recent reported milestones — the 2025 acquisition of Aromatica and the founder's 2025 regional entrepreneur award — point to continued expansion, supported by reported revenue near 250 million crowns and a staff of more than 80. Its products are distributed across the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland and through pan-European retailers.
