Summary

Overview

Annica Vallin is a Swedish accessories and jewellery brand based in the Gothenburg area, run by its founder of the same name through the company Plusdesign AB. Founded in 2008, it designs women's accessories with sustainability as its stated guiding principle, spanning hair accessories, recycled silver jewellery, loungewear, bags and home textiles [2].

The brand remains active. Its webshop is live and regularly updated, and a 2023 trade-association interview with the founder reported steady growth, with Scandinavia as the primary market and expansion into Central Europe [4].

Origin and founder

The designer Annica Vallin started the business in 2008, having always worked close to production. In a 2023 interview she described drawing inspiration from her travels and, above all, from the west coast of Bohuslän, where she spends time at a summer house on the island of Klädesholmen [4]. The brand's tagline, "Pure Nature with an Edge!", echoes that coastal influence [1].

Vallin works directly with the craftspeople who make her products, a relationship the company frames both as a creative dialogue and as a way to keep oversight of working conditions. According to the brand, caring for the environment and for people is central to how it selects suppliers and designs products.

Products

The range covers five categories: silver jewellery, hair accessories, bags, loungewear and home textiles [4]. Its best-known item is SUPERSNODDEN, a hair tie identified by an "S" on the bead, which the company and third-party listings repeatedly describe as its star product [2]. The line also includes hair claws, headbands, barrettes and combs, alongside earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets in recycled Sterling Silver 925. Loungewear features limited-edition kimonos and a linen collection, and the home range centres on hammam towels.

Philosophy and sustainability

Sustainability has been the brand's stated focus since it began in 2008 [1]. The company says its mission is to combine function and beauty within what it calls a sound environmental goal, arguing that high quality gives products a longer life. Several material choices follow from that position: jewellery made from recycled Sterling Silver 925, hair claws in biodegradable cellulose acetate, and loungewear sewn from leftover fabric from the textile industry to reduce waste. The loungewear is tailored at a small workshop in New Delhi. The brand summarises its durability aim with the phrase that its products are "made to wear for ever".

The founder also supports a project in New Delhi, described on the brand site as a daytime home providing schooling, food and care for children from the city's slums, together with a separate initiative offering work to local women who sew bags from antique saris.
