Overview
Aqua di Sorrento is an Italian fragrance brand built around the imagery of Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples — its coastline, lemon groves and Mediterranean light. It is not an independent house but a line owned by Diamond International, the perfume division of the Italian group Sodico [9]. The collection was officially presented in July 2022 [8], making it one of the younger names in the catalogue, and it remains active, with new fragrances added each year.
The brand sells eaux de parfum alongside body creams, shower gels, scented waters and a shimmer oil, all marketed under the same Sorrento theme and produced, the company says, entirely in Italy [1].
Origin
Aqua di Sorrento was launched by Diamond International, an Italian perfumery that describes itself as a producer of high-quality fragrances rooted in Italian craftsmanship. The line takes its name and its concept from Sorrento, the coastal town south of Naples; according to the company, the fragrances are meant to evoke the area's sea, lemon groves, landscapes and mild air. The names of individual scents draw on the same geography — Partenope after the legendary siren associated with Naples, Posillipo after the headland on the Gulf of Naples.
No individual founders, perfumers or creative directors are publicly credited for the line in the available sources.
Ownership
Aqua di Sorrento belongs to Diamond International, which sits within the larger Sodico Group [9]. According to the parent group, Sodico was established by the Colomboni family roughly three decades ago and grew out of cosmetics distribution into manufacturing, with Diamond International serving as its fragrance and perfume arm. Alongside its own brands, including Bellagio and Rituena, Diamond International also produces licensed fragrances for names such as Ducati, Jeep and Fiat 500.
The brand's location is recorded inconsistently. Diamond International lists a headquarters address in Milan on its own site [1], while the parent Sodico Group gives its base as Mondolfo, in the Marche region [9].
Philosophy & positioning
Aqua di Sorrento presents itself as a celebration of southern Italy translated into scent, using the tagline "Fragranze con stile e carattere" — fragrances with style and character. The parent company frames its broader purpose as expressing emotion through aromas "that speak to the heart," and emphasises Italian production and carefully selected raw materials. Sales sit in the mid-range rather than the luxury tier [12], and the line is positioned toward buyers drawn to an Italian, Mediterranean aesthetic. Its packaging leans on a vintage look inspired by Vietri majolica ceramics, with minimal styling and gold detailing.
Products & innovation
The collection is anchored by three eaux de parfum. Partenope is built on citrus and green-apple top notes over a floral heart of lily of the valley, jasmine and lily, finishing on citrus and sandalwood. Posillipo is the more aromatic of the three, opening with bergamot, ginger and black pepper and resting on patchouli, cedarwood and musk. Sirèa, also sold as Sirenide, is a marine-themed scent layering lemon, moss and sage over tiare flower, jasmine and ylang-ylang. Lemon and bergamot recur across the range, in keeping with the brand's Sorrento framing.
Beyond the eaux de parfum, Aqua di Sorrento offers a set of scented waters — Giardino di Amalfi, Terrazza su Capri and Tramonto a Positano — a shimmer oil called Olio Luminoso, and body products such as creams and shower gels.
Sustainability
The company states that its packaging is fully recyclable and points to material reduction and clearer disposal information as ongoing commitments, alongside research aimed at complete recyclability [2]. At launch, it also noted that some of the essential oils used were certified through a "Naturals Together" programme described as supporting ethical, sustainable sourcing [8].
Current status
The brand is active. After its 2022 debut with Partenope and Posillipo, the line has continued to expand, with the Sirenide fragrance recorded as a 2025 release [14]. Products are sold directly in Italy and through third-party retailers, including Swedish e-commerce, placing the brand within the Nordic market in addition to its home country.
There is a discrepancy over how old the brand is. Italian trade press dates the official launch to July 2022 [8], while the fragrance database Fragrantica lists its earliest edition as 2024 [15] — a gap most likely explained by when individual products were entered into that database rather than by the line's actual debut.
