Overview
Believa is a German skincare brand produced by Believa GmbH, a small company based in Düsseldorf [3]. Its main line, BELIEVA NATURAL INTENSIV, is a care cream series for dry, scaly and itchy skin. The company presents it as supportive care for people with atopic dermatitis (eczema) and psoriasis, and also as everyday preventive care [1].
The brand is defined largely by what its formulas leave out. Believa describes its products as vegan and built on plant ingredients in low-allergen recipes, without synthetic dyes or fragrances, paraffins, silicones, parabens or PEG emulsifiers. A dermatological user study carried out by a testing institute near Hamburg sits at the centre of how the company explains its cream.
Origin & founders
Believa GmbH is registered with the District Court of Düsseldorf and gives its address as Immermannstraße in the city centre. Its register entry describes the business purpose as "the development, manufacture and distribution of dermatological and cosmetic products" [7]. The commercial register lists four shareholders, and no parent group is named.
The company has not always been based in Düsseldorf. A 2014 product-test article introduced Believa Cosmetics as a maker of natural cosmetics from Mönchengladbach [8], while the company's current legal notice names Düsseldorf [3]. The two accounts reflect a move rather than a contradiction: earlier registrations of the company were held at the District Court of Mönchengladbach before it transferred to the Düsseldorf court [7]. When the move took place is not documented.
Believa does not publicly name its founders, and its website carries no company history or "about us" page.
Philosophy & positioning
The homepage opens with the line "Das Beste für deine Haut: Vegan" and a short statement of purpose. Scaly, itchy skin affects many people today, the company writes, and its specially developed natural-care concept is meant to support skin affected by atopic dermatitis and psoriasis gently, while also suiting long-term preventive care [1]. Believa says it uses plant ingredients deliberately and avoids anything it considers a burden on the skin.
Much of the website reads as patient education. Believa describes atopic dermatitis as a non-contagious, chronic skin condition that comes in flare-ups, typically showing as dry, scaly and itching skin, often alongside asthma or other allergies. It describes psoriasis in similar terms, noting that it can also affect the nails, mucous membranes and joints. Triggers, in the company's account, vary widely from person to person, from pollen and pet hair to stress, climate and skin irritation.
From this the brand builds its argument. Because atopic dermatitis cannot be cured, Believa writes, treatments aim to ease symptoms and lengthen the calm periods between flare-ups, and people affected should always seek medical advice. Whatever treatment someone follows, the company argues, it should be accompanied by good skincare, including in symptom-free periods.
Believa also explains why it avoids so many common ingredients. In its view, many cosmetic ingredients exist mainly to make a product look, smell or feel better. That may not matter much for healthy skin, the company says, but skin troubled by eczema should be spared ingredients that could work against its natural recovery. The BELIEVA NATURAL INTENSIV series is built around that idea.
The homepage also speaks of using nature for the regeneration and care of both skin and hair, although the brand's published product information centres on skin.
Products & innovation
The BELIEVA NATURAL INTENSIV care cream is the brand's signature product. According to the company, the series is free from dyes, parabens, preservatives, silicones, mineral oils, paraffins, fragrances and PEG emulsifiers [4]. The preservative claim comes with a nuance on the same page: Believa explains that pentylene glycol both helps keep the product stable and adds moisture, which lets it do without conventional preservatives [4]. On the homepage the wording is narrower, excluding synthetic dyes and fragrances.
The brand's ingredient page walks through the key components one by one and gives the company's view of what each does:
- Witch hazel leaf extract, from a tree native to eastern North America, which Believa describes as soothing itch, supporting the skin's barrier and reducing moisture loss. - Centella asiatica, also called tiger grass. The company repeats the legend that Bengal tigers roll in its leaves after an injury, and says the plant is used in skincare for damaged and eczema-prone skin. - Aloe vera leaf extract, described as cooling, calming itch and helping the skin hold moisture. - Shea butter, which the brand says replenishes oils and strengthens the skin's protective outer layer. - Argan oil and grape seed oil, valued in the company's account for their fatty acids and antioxidants. - Squalane, a plant-derived oil similar to the skin's own lipids, which Believa says gives a soft, non-greasy feel. - Vitamin E (tocopherol), which the brand credits with binding moisture and calming itch.
The formula also contains glycerin, a neutral oil made from medium-chain fatty acids, and a small amount of propylene glycol as a moisture-binding agent. Believa describes the combination as a formula that can calm the skin, reduce redness and itching and improve wellbeing. The company does not claim any third-party certification for its vegan or natural positioning.
The cream is also offered in a bulk counter display, which Believa markets to resellers such as pharmacies, cosmetic studios and other personal-care businesses [1].
Science & innovation
The brand's main scientific reference is a dermatological user study of BELIEVA NATURAL INTENSIV carried out by proDERM, the Institute for Applied Dermatological Research in Schenefeld near Hamburg. According to the company, the study set out to evaluate the cream's skin tolerance and cosmetic acceptance in people with atopic dermatitis or psoriasis [5]. Participants applied it twice a day for four weeks, and a dermatologist assessed their skin.
Believa reports that all participants tolerated the product "very well" in the dermatologist's assessment [5]. The company also states that the number of participants showing redness, dryness, scaling and small raised bumps fell clearly after four weeks compared with the start, and that the intensity of these skin conditions decreased. Participants themselves reported less dryness and tightness, and more than 77 percent said they would recommend the product [5].
The company's published summary does not give the year of the study or the number of participants. As described, the study was designed to measure tolerance and user acceptance rather than to test the cream as a medical treatment.
Current status
Believa is active. As of September 2026 the company runs a German-language website with its own online shop, and a change of managing director was entered in the commercial register in March 2026 [7]. The brand is sold mainly through pharmacies and its own web shop, and its presence is documented only in Germany.
