BIOCEA

BIOCEA is a German skincare brand in the medical-cosmetics category, known in German as Medikosmetik: creams that sit between everyday cosmetics and pharmacy treatments, designed to accompany the care of chronic skin conditions rather than to cure them. The brand is owned and made by MEDIVIS UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a small company that trades as MEDIVIS Pharma & Medikosmetik [6]. Its line is deliberately narrow. It consists of two creams, one aimed at facial redness from rosacea, couperose and spider veins, the other at psoriasis, itching and atopic dermatitis.

What sets BIOCEA apart from mass-market skincare is its focus. Rather than a broad range of cleansers, serums and moisturisers, the company has built its identity around a few concentrated "active complexes" in a base it says is free of artificial preservatives, parabens, mineral oil and fragrance, packed in airless pump dispensers. The brand is active and sells both creams through its own German-language web shop. Neither its founding year nor its founders are documented in public sources.

The company behind BIOCEA is MEDIVIS UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a German limited-liability company. It is registered at the local court in Bonn under HRB 17554, and its managing director is Johannes Ruhland [6]. The footer of the brand's website names the operator only as "MEDIVIS Pharma & Medikosmetik GERMANY". The German medicines directory Gelbe Liste lists MEDIVIS as the manufacturer of both BIOCEA preparations [8].

The company's headquarters are given in two places. MEDIVIS's own contact page, and Gelbe Liste, give an address in Bonn [6][8]. The company-register aggregator North Data lists an address in Rheinbach instead, and shows an address publication from November 2023 [9]. Since the register entry is the more recent of the two, the Bonn address on the company's own page may be out of date; this article follows the company's own statement of Bonn while noting the Rheinbach address.

No acquisitions, sister brands or outside investors are documented for BIOCEA.

BIOCEA describes its line as "professional medical skin care" (professionelle medizinische Hautpflege). The positioning rests on two ideas: a high concentration of active ingredients, and a gentle, stripped-back base around them.

On the first point, the company says its rosacea cream contains a 4 % active complex and its psoriasis cream a 6 % one. In its own words, the high concentration of these ingredients is what allows the creams to provide effective, lasting care for the conditions they target.

On the second, BIOCEA offers what it calls a guarantee. According to the brand, its products are "biologically built", pH-neutral and entirely free of artificial preservatives, parabens, mineral oil and any perfume or aroma substances [4]. The psoriasis cream is additionally described as containing no cortisone and no animal-derived ingredients. Each product comes in an airless dispenser, which the company says guarantees hygiene and consistent quality from the first dose to the last.

The brand frames its creams as supportive care alongside treatment, not as medicines. The psoriasis product, for example, is described as a cream for "therapy-accompanying care" (therapiebegleitende Pflege). No third-party certifications, such as organic or cruelty-free labels, are documented for the brand.

### Rosacea, couperose and spider veins cream

The earlier of the two products is a 30 ml cream for redness caused by rosacea, couperose (small, visible broken capillaries on the face) and spider veins. Its active complex combines GATULINE-A®, a named cosmetic ingredient, with rutin, horse chestnut extract, lesser celandine extract and evening primrose oil. The surrounding cream base, the company says, also contains dexpanthenol, urea and vitamins A and E to support the skin's renewal.

According to BIOCEA, this cream was rated "very good" (sehr gut) in a dermatological test carried out under the supervision of a specialist physician [4]. The company does not name the testing institute or publish the study.

### Psoriasis, itching and atopic dermatitis cream

The second product is a 50 ml cream for psoriasis, itching and atopic dermatitis (Neurodermitis in German). BIOCEA presents it as a completely new development that took more than three years of development and testing, built on what it calls the established BIOCEA concept [5].

The company names madecassoside as the "star" of the formula. The brand describes it as a purified tiger grass extract. The 6 % active complex also includes chamomile and sage extracts and omega-6 fatty acids from olive and evening primrose oil, and the cream contains urea. BIOCEA gives the cream's pH as 5.5.

The published ingredient list for this cream names limonene and linalool among its components [5], alongside the brand-wide statement that its products contain no perfume or aroma substances.

BIOCEA has received little independent coverage, and no awards are documented.

The one editorial review found is a 2015 post on Die Testbar, a German beauty test blog. The post, marked as an advertisement, describes two testers using the redness cream for several weeks [7]. One, who has rosacea, reported that her dry skin felt well cared for and that the cream did not irritate it, but that her redness had only slightly decreased after almost four weeks. The second tester, who has very sensitive skin prone to atopic dermatitis, reported a clearer reduction in redness and said she tolerated the cream well. Both liked the fragrance-neutral formula and the airless pump.

BIOCEA is active. As of 2026, its German-language web shop was live and selling both creams, and a banner on the site welcomed visitors to the brand's "new online presence" [1]. Parts of that new site still showed template text in September 2026, and some menu pages were not yet working.

The brand's older web address, biocea.de, was not reachable in September 2026. MEDIVIS's own contact page still directs visitors interested in its products to that older address [6]. The brand has no linked social media accounts.
