Summary

Overview

Bione Cosmetics is a Czech natural-cosmetics brand that makes face, body and hair products free of substances it describes as harmful or burdening. It is the in-house brand of Drogerex, a Czech cosmetics distributor, importer and manufacturer, and has been on the market since 1998 [1]. The brand remains active, with live e-shops and current listings across Czech and Slovak pharmacy and drugstore retail.

The range is positioned as "purely Czech natural cosmetics," made, in the company's words, "with love, care and respect for nature" [3]. Bione Cosmetics sits at the everyday end of the market and is sold through both its own online stores and third-party retailers rather than through a single boutique channel.

Origin and ownership

Bione Cosmetics traces its origins to 1998, the year the Czech company Drogerex was founded; according to the company, the Bione Cosmetics brand was added to its portfolio shortly afterward [4]. Drogerex began as a cosmetics distributor and importer and grew into a producer of private-label cosmetics, eventually manufacturing the facial, body and hair lines sold under the Bione name [2]. The company states that Bione has provided natural care "for over 20 years."

The brand's corporate history carries a documented wrinkle. While the company consistently dates its founding to 1998 [4], the present legal entity, DROGEREX s.r.o., was registered as a limited liability company only in 2017 [5]. Czech business-registry records treat this 2017 date as the establishment of the current company; the brand and underlying business, however, predate it, the 2017 registration being a re-incorporation rather than the start of the brand. The named founder of Bione Cosmetics is not published in available sources.

Philosophy and positioning

Bione Cosmetics frames itself around natural composition and the absence of ingredients it regards as unnecessary or burdening. The company emphasises functionality and what it calls a high content of active substances, and presents the brand as a meeting point of "nature, science, proven traditional recipes" and quality [4]. It says its formulas exclude a range of common cosmetic ingredients, among them parabens, silicones, the surfactants SLS and SLES, mineral oils and other petroleum derivatives, and phthalates [6]. In their place, according to the brand, products draw on raw materials "predominantly from renewable natural sources" and easily biodegradable ingredients chosen to avoid residues that damage the environment.

The company also makes a self-reported commercial claim, stating that in the Czech Republic one Bione Cosmetics product is sold every fifteen seconds [3].

Products

The brand spans skincare, body care and haircare, extending into men's and children's lines, lip care and decorative cosmetics [2]. Within the portfolio sits Bio Bione, an explicitly bio-declared sub-range that, the company says, contains no silicones, petroleum derivatives, phthalates or poorly biodegradable substances, described as gentle to both the scalp and the environment [7]. Available sources do not name an external certifying body such as ECOCERT or COSMOS for this line.

Products are made in the Czech Republic and reach customers through several channels: the brand's own e-shops, including bionecosmetics.cz and bione-shop.cz, alongside pharmacy and drugstore retailers such as Notino, Dr. Max and Pilulka [3].

Current status
