Overview
Biosme, which trades as Biosme Paris, is a French indie cosmetics company founded in 2016 and based in Paris. It specialises in probiotic skincare and deodorants formulated for sensitive skin, built around a patented complex of fermented active ingredients. The company describes itself as a French pioneer of probiotic cosmetics, with products certified natural and organic and distributed chiefly through partner pharmacies in France.
The brand appears to be dormant. Its blog stopped publishing in January 2022, its last LinkedIn post dates to around mid-2025, and only one employee is currently listed there [13]. The online store remained operational into 2026, but its public activity has otherwise gone quiet.

Origin and founders
Biosme was founded by Pascale de Lomas, a marketing consultant, and Madjid Belkacem, a former engineer at France's national research agency CNRS [12]. According to the company, the idea grew out of personal frustration: de Lomas had developed allergies and sensitivities to conventional deodorants and could no longer tolerate the products available to her. After months of research with pharmacists, biologists and chemists, the team patented what it calls a "pro-active deo complex" in 2015, combining saccharomyces and lactobacillus ferments to inhibit the bacteria that cause odour [2].
Sources place the patent in 2015 and the company's creation in January 2016 [11]; the brand itself dates its history to 2016, the year its first probiotic deodorants reached the market.
History and milestones
The first deodorants, sold under the DayDry name, launched in early 2016. Over the following years the range broadened well beyond its original category. A body-care line, a haircare line and an intimate cleansing gel arrived in 2017, the year Charlotte joined as research-and-development director [11]. A face-care range followed in 2020. The company says its products earned Cosmos natural and organic certification, which it dates to 2018 [11].
Two products drew industry recognition. The "Bleu Océan" deodorant won the Cosm'éthique Bio prize in 2019, cited for eco-responsible packaging using recyclable glass and recycled ocean plastic [10]. The following year, a facial treatment marketed as L'Elixir Biotique was selected for the 2020 Cosmébio Trophies [11].
Philosophy and positioning
Biosme frames itself as more than a natural skincare label, saying it was created to provide "ultra high tolerance cosmetics which draw the best from nature and boost the skin's defences." The central idea is the skin microbiome — the community of microorganisms living on the skin — which the company aims to preserve rather than strip away. Its formulations are pitched at sensitive skin and conditions such as acne, eczema and rosacea, and the brand says they leave out alcohol, essential oils, allergens and synthetic preservatives.
Products and innovation
The signature technology is the patented probiotic complex of saccharomyces and lactobacillus ferments. Biosme highlights Lactobacillus acidophilus as its lead probiotic, used in an inactivated form, paired with plant-derived prebiotics such as inulin and oligosaccharides. The catalogue spans probiotic deodorants, face oils, creams, cleansers and a gua sha massage tool, alongside body and intimate care. Its Rose Intime intimate cleanser is described by the company as one of its best-selling products. A separate range, the ORBIOME Biotique oils, is sold exclusively online.
Distribution otherwise runs through partner pharmacies in France, handled by the wholesaler OCP Pharmalia; an earlier business listing also names the supermarket chains Monoprix and Franprix among past retailers [12].
Sustainability
Biosme manufactures in France and says it sources ingredients there where possible, and otherwise within Europe. The company states that its packaging is recyclable and that its deodorants use recycled ocean plastic, and it offers bulk refills at its Paris workshop [10]. Accounts of where the products are made differ: the brand's own history page names manufacturing partners in Brittany and Vendôme [2], while the clean-beauty directory Bien ou Bien lists Brittany and Vendée [10] — Vendôme being a commune in central France and Vendée a department on the Atlantic coast.
Current status
The brand shows signs of dormancy rather than active growth. Its magazine-style blog last published in January 2022, and its LinkedIn page records a most recent post around mid-2025 with a single listed employee [13]. The Shopify-based storefront remained live with a 2026 copyright notice, and no closure has been announced, but the cadence of new content and communication points to an inactive period. No Nordic distribution through the brand's own channels has been documented.
