Overview
BM - CosmeCeuticals is a Finnish dermocosmetics skincare line built around sucralfate, a sugar-derived compound originally used to treat stomach ulcers. The brand is owned and manufactured by Mediwell Oy, a small family company based in Jorvas, in the municipality of Kirkkonummi, Finland, which acquired the BM line in 2016 [1]. Its products are aimed at sensitive, thin and aging skin, and the company describes the range as developed in collaboration with dermatologists for the needs of Finnish skin.
The line is classified as dermokosmetiikka — pharmacy-grade or dermocosmetic skincare — and is sold through Finnish pharmacies and retailers such as Sokos and Stockmann, as well as online. Although Glowjakt records Denmark among its sales markets, the brand itself originates in Finland; the Danish association is historical, tracing to an early research collaboration on its core ingredient.

Origin
The brand's story begins not with a cosmetic product but with a hospital case. According to the company, the skincare use of sucralfate emerged in the mid-1980s, when a hospital pharmacist made a cream from ulcer tablets to treat a severe case of diaper dermatitis in an infant after surgery [2]. The condition resolved quickly, which prompted more formal investigation. A young Danish dermatologist and the pharmacist began studying how sucralfate affected the skin and mucous membranes, and that work led to the first BM Regenerative Cream and the products that followed [2].
The corporate lineage runs through Mediwell Oy. The company traces its roots to 1974, when Finn Björn founded FMK Oy in Helsinki; the business later became Mediwell Broker Oy during Finland's economic downturn in the mid-1990s, working as a pharmaceutical sales organisation. In 2016 Mediwell Oy acquired the BM CosmeCeuticals brand and became its Finnish manufacturer, making the skincare series its first product line [1]. The company is led by Maria Björn as chief executive.
Products and ingredients
Sucralfate is the brand's defining ingredient. The company describes it as a sucrose derivative — a very small molecule said to penetrate the skin's surface layers and stimulate cell renewal. According to BM, it works by activating skin proteins that bind to cell-surface receptors and prompt cell division, and by limiting irritation when skin meets allergens or harmful chemicals. The brand presents it as effective against dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, couperose (facial redness), pigmentation and scarring.
Beyond sucralfate, the formulations draw on ingredients common to anti-aging skincare, including vitamin A (marketed as OptiRetin), niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, the peptide palmitoyl tripeptide-15 and squalane. The range also features a patented anti-stress ingredient, biphenyl-azepanyl-methanone, which the company says reduces visible signs of stress in the skin [3].
Signature products include the BM Regenerative Cream, day and night creams containing sucralfate, the Gel 28 serum and the OptiRetin vitamin A cream. An Anti-Stress line was later added to address stress-related skin concerns. The brand states that its products are free of fragrance and colorants, and that several are also free of preservatives; it notes that the products are listed in the ingredient databases of the Helsinki Allergy and Asthma Association [4]. The company does not publish a vegan or microplastic-free claim on its product pages.
Positioning
BM positions itself as gentle yet effective skincare made specifically for Finnish skin, which it characterises as sensitive and thin and exposed to strong seasonal variation. The company frames its approach around researched, pharmacy-grade formulation and customer feedback; Maria Björn has said the brand's most important value is listening to customers so that it can develop products that genuinely help them [1]. Originally the line was sold only through dermatologists and pharmacies before broadening into general retail.
Research
BM cites several clinical studies in support of its products, though the published documentation is limited. A study at Helsinki University Hospital with 30 participants reported that the Regenerative Cream increased epidermal thickness and strengthened the dermis, while a placebo group showed no change; the brand cites results published in Acta Oncologica (Vol. 33, No. 2, 1994) [5]. A larger Danish clinical evaluation of the Regenerative Cream involved 517 participants, of whom 91 percent were women, with the brand reporting that 38 percent rated the results "very good" and 42 percent "good" [5]. A separate Danish study of the Gel 28 serum involved 51 participants and reported favourable outcomes for wrinkles and enlarged pores [5].
Reception
As a small single-country brand, BM has limited third-party coverage. It has been reviewed on Finnish beauty blogs, including a 2017 post on Tuubitoleranssi, and was featured in a 2025 sponsored post and giveaway on the Finnish lifestyle site Lily.fi, which described its products as offering good value for money [6]. No major international editorial coverage was found.
Current status
The brand remains active. It maintains a current product line and retail distribution through Finnish pharmacies and stores, and its most recent documented third-party activity is the October 2025 Lily.fi feature [6]. Its operations are centred on Finland under Mediwell Oy.
