Summary

Overview

BPcare is a Finnish hair care line developed by hairdresser and entrepreneur Anne Kaismo and manufactured in Finland. It belongs to BP Hair Oy, an Oulu-based company that Kaismo built first around imported hair extensions and later expanded into hair care, styling and accessories. The line is aimed at long and chemically treated hair, and its formulas were also designed to suit the demands of the company's own hair extensions.

The brand remains active. It is sold mainly through the company's web shop, Finnish salons and a handful of Finnish beauty retailers, with the most recent blog activity recorded in January 2026 [15]. Distribution is essentially single-country, and there is no documented international presence.

Origin & founders

BPcare grew out of Anne Kaismo's career as a salon hairdresser. According to a 2022 profile in the Finnish title PINNI, Kaismo had worked as a hairdresser entrepreneur since 2002 and founded her import company, BP Hair Oy, in 2013 [8]. The business began with hair extensions before broadening into the products that now carry the BP and BPcare names.

Sources differ on which year to treat as the brand's starting point. The PINNI interview places the launch of the BPcare hair care line in 2015 [8], and a Finnish beauty blog reviewed the range in September 2015, which supports that date. The Finnish business registry Finder records BP Hair Oy itself as established on 11 June 2013 [12]. The two dates describe different things: 2013 is the founding of the parent company as a hair-extensions import business, while 2015 marks the launch of the BPcare line specifically. Both years are documented in the company's own history.

Ownership

BPcare is not an independent company but an in-house line owned by BP Hair Oy, also written BPhair Oy, which is based at Kangaskontiontie 12 D in Oulu [12]. Anne Kaismo is the founder and chief executive; the registry lists her as CEO since October 2013, with Tomi Kaismo recorded as board chair from November 2023 [12]. The same parent also operates the BP Accessories and BP Lashes lines alongside its extensions business.

Financially the parent has been a steady mid-sized operation, with annual revenue reported in the region of one and a half million euros through 2022 and operating profit recorded in the following years [12]. The company employed five people as of late 2024.

Philosophy & positioning

BPcare is positioned as a professional-oriented, domestically made range for hair that is long, dry or chemically treated. The company describes it as a richly moisturising and nourishing line developed by a Finnish hairdresser, and notes that the products were formulated with the special requirements of its hair extensions in mind, which it presents as making them a natural match for extension wearers. A retailer listing adds that part of the range is also formulated for men's hair.

The products sit at a professional price tier and reach customers through more than one channel. The company states that the line is available "at hairdressers or in the BPhair web shop," reflecting a model that combines salon sale with direct e-commerce rather than mass retail.

Products & innovation

The BPcare range centres on cleansing and conditioning for treated hair. Among its better-known items are the Hydrating Shampoo, the Quick Mask conditioner and the Luxury Drops treatment oil, the last of which drew early positive coverage in a 2015 blog review for smoothing hair without leaving it greasy. The line also includes a deep-cleansing Fresh Clean Shampoo, an intensive Healing Mask, an anti-static spray and a Platinum range whose shampoo is intended to bring out the tone of blonde hair.

The Hydrating Shampoo is built around argan oil (Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil), with supporting ingredients such as panthenol, glycerin and silk amino acids. The presence of silk amino acids means this particular product is not vegan, and its formula also contains a sulfate cleanser, so the line is not sulfate-free across the board. A Finnish retailer notes that seven products in the range are marked as free of animal-derived ingredients, indicating that some, but not all, items are suitable for vegans.

Sustainability

Responsibility claims for BPcare sit within the parent company's broader sustainability statement. The company says it continuously works to make its operations more responsible, and that its manufacturing partners and suppliers are audited using Amfori BSCI or equivalent international systems [2]. It states that all BPcare products are made in Finland, and that materials are batch-tested against Finnish and EU product-safety standards.

The parent's wider commitments extend to its extensions business: it says its hair comes from ponytail donations made on informed terms, with donors told in advance about compensation and free to decline, and that it works to reduce plastic in both incoming and outgoing packaging. The brand states that its products are not tested on animals, though it does not cite a formal cruelty-free certification, and the line carries no third-party eco or vegan certifications.

Recognition

Press coverage of BPcare has been limited and local. The fullest account is the 2022 "Minun viikkoni" (My Week) profile of Anne Kaismo in PINNI, which traces her path from salon hairdresser to founder of BP Hair Oy and BPcare [8]. Beyond that, an early 2015 review on a Finnish beauty blog gave the newly launched line, and the Luxury Drops oil in particular, favourable notice. The brand has no recorded awards.

Current status

BPcare is an active line. Its parent, BP Hair Oy, continues to publish blog content roughly monthly, with the latest post on the company site dated January 2026, and maintains active social accounts under the @bphairoy handle [15]. Sales remain concentrated in Finland, through the BPhair web shop, Finnish salons and a small number of Finnish multi-brand retailers, and there is no documented distribution outside the country.
