Overview
Capuani is a niche perfume brand whose fragrances draw on Campania, the region of southern Italy around Naples, while its legal home is in Switzerland. The brand is operated by Capuani Group GmbH, a company based in Cham in the canton of Zug [3]. Its range consists of a single First Collection of three extraits de parfum, composed by the perfumers Mark Buxton and Bertrand Duchaufour, along with a sample set.
Capuani does not state a founding year of its own. Its operating company was entered in the Zug commercial register in October 2023 [7], while the community perfume database Parfumo lists Capuani as a Swiss brand "since 2024" [5]. The brand is active, and its online shop added a new product in January 2026.
Origin & founders
In its own telling, Capuani was "originally founded to translate the atmosphere of Campania into artistic perfumes" [2]. The company says its first collection sets out to capture the emotions, rituals and craftsmanship of the region. The three scents each take a different Campanian subject as their starting point: an evening in Naples, the coastline at night, and the city's tradition of tailoring.
The brand names no founder on its website. What stands out instead is the split between concept and base. The story and the product names are Italian, but the imprint gives a company address in Cham, Switzerland, and Parfumo likewise classifies the brand as Swiss.
History & milestones
Capuani Group GmbH was registered as a new limited liability company with statutes dated 5 October 2023; the entry was published in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce on 19 October 2023 [7]. Its registered purpose covers the development and production of perfumes, cosmetics, beauty and care products, as well as clothing and fashion items. The company was set up with a share capital of CHF 20,000.
The three perfumes of the First Collection, Babà e Fumo, Notte in Costiera and Arte e Sartoria, were published in the brand's online shop on 11 September 2024 [4]. Parfumo, by contrast, lists all three as 2025 releases [5]. This article follows the dates of the brand's own shop.
The next addition came in January 2026, when Capuani added a Discovery Kit to its shop, offered for pre-order. It contains 3 ml of each of the three perfumes.
Ownership
Capuani has no documented parent company and operates as an independent brand through Capuani Group GmbH. At incorporation, the Swiss commercial register listed Leandro Gaudiano as the company's partner and managing director, with sole signing authority and all 200 shares of the share capital [7]. The register does not describe him as the brand's founder. No acquisitions or changes of ownership are documented.
Philosophy & positioning
Capuani describes its perfumes as contemporary interpretations of Campania's cultural heritage rather than attempts to recreate specific places. The website presents the house under the heading "Artistic Perfumes Inspired by Italian Heritage", and the brand carries the Italian motto "Ogni creazione ha una sua origine" ("Every creation has its own origin").
The visual identity follows the same idea. According to the company, its emblem is inspired by traditional Italian ceramic ornamentation, and the About page links it to the riggiola, the decorative ceramic tile of the Naples tradition. The brand says the emblem is meant to evoke Mediterranean façades, artisanal craftsmanship and a sense of permanence, framed as a modern reading of Italian heritage rather than nostalgia.
Capuani also sets out a view on how often it releases new work. The company says creativity does not follow fixed release structures and instead unfolds at its own internal pace, so it does not commit to a seasonal launch calendar. All of its perfumes are sold in the extrait de parfum format in 50 ml bottles.
Products
The First Collection holds three fragrances. Two are credited to Mark Buxton and one to Bertrand Duchaufour, according to the brand's homepage [1].
- Babà e Fumo (Mark Buxton) is described by the brand as a tribute to the spirit of Naples: an evening of laughter and cigar smoke, built around the sweetness of babà, the rum-soaked Neapolitan pastry. Parfumo classifies it as a spicy, smoky scent for women and men, with notes of cardamom, rum, coffee, cognac, date, davana, almond, patchouli, styrax and vanilla [6]. - Notte in Costiera (Mark Buxton) takes the Campanian coast at night as its theme. The company describes it as capturing the moment when sun-warmed rocks release the last of the day's heat. - Arte e Sartoria (Bertrand Duchaufour) is presented as a tribute to Neapolitan tailoring and the craftsmanship behind it.
The Discovery Kit, added in 2026, gathers 3 ml samples of all three scents and is presented by the brand as an introduction to the collection.
Current status
Capuani is an active brand. Its most recent visible step was the Discovery Kit, added to its online shop on 5 January 2026 [4], and the website carries a 2026 copyright notice. Parfumo records Babà e Fumo as still in production [6].
The perfumes are sold through the brand's own online shop, which prices in euros and ships to around 40 European countries. No awards, press coverage or third-party certifications are documented for the brand.
