Overview
Casa Far Niente is a German niche fragrance house founded in 2024 and based in Mainaschaff, near Aschaffenburg in Bavaria [1]. It launched as a perfume label built around the idea of Italian-flavoured ease, summed up in its tagline "Sprezzatura with every Spritz." The company sells directly to customers through its own website, which ships to more than 50 regions, and its range consists entirely of high-concentration Extrait de Parfum compositions.
The brand trades as casa far niente GmbH and is registered with the District Court of Aschaffenburg [2]. Its name plays on the Italian phrase dolce far niente — roughly, the pleasure of doing nothing — and the house frames perfume as one part of a wider habit of enjoying everyday moments with style.
Origin and founders
According to its own account, Casa Far Niente was started by three co-founders: Philip Deml, Philipp Hehmann and Philip Kraft, who described the venture as growing out of a close friendship and a shared interest in fragrance [3]. The brand's about page assigns each a distinct role — Deml in luxury brand-building, Hehmann in storytelling and aesthetics, and Kraft in logistics and structure. Some retailer brand pages list only Deml and Hehmann as founders, omitting Kraft [4]; the company's own about page, along with two independent fragrance pages, name all three.
The most public of the founders is Philip Deml, a Frankfurt-based entrepreneur and social-media influencer with a following reported at over 280,000 on Instagram [5]. Before perfume, Deml founded the phone-accessory startup flapgrip in 2020 — which drew investment through the German television show Die Höhle der Löwen — and the jewellery label Veynou in 2021 [5]. Philipp Hehmann is listed as the company's managing director on its legal notice [2].
Products
Casa Far Niente makes only fragrance. Its line is composed of Extrait de Parfum formulations, which the company states carry a 25% fragrance-oil concentration, and the range had grown to five scents within roughly two years of launch. The initial 2024 release comprised three perfumes — Crema di Capri, Negroni Nights and Tuscan Tea — and was later joined by Rilago Rush, inspired by Lake Como, and Après Alpine, themed around St. Moritz [6].
Each scent is tied to a place or mood: Negroni Nights evokes an evening in Florence with notes of bergamot, tobacco leaf, rum and leather; Crema di Capri leans creamy and tropical around coconut, lime and vanilla; and the gourmand Après Alpine blends croissant, almond milk and iris with sandalwood and vanilla. Alongside the perfumes, the brand offers smaller travel sizes, discovery sets, and accessories such as caps, pocket squares and espresso sets.
The fragrances are developed in collaboration with the international perfume house IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) and perfumer Céline Barel [7]. The perfumes are made in Germany, while one retailer page states the fragrance oils themselves are produced in France [8]. On sustainability, the company says it uses ingredients "sourced responsibly and sustainably," and the same retailer page links the sourcing to IFF's LMR natural-ingredients program [8]. The brand does not state vegan, cruelty-free or third-party certification claims on its site.
Philosophy and positioning
Casa Far Niente positions itself, in its own words, as "more than a perfume brand — it's a way of life," organised around sprezzatura, the Italian notion of studied effortlessness. The house describes its identity as a fusion of three European traditions: Italian elegance, Parisian perfumery and German manufacturing. It names "sophistication, authenticity and passion" as its core values and cites a line attributed to Frank Sinatra — "I believe in the smart, the elegant and the effortless" — as a touchstone.
Recognition
As a brand launched in 2024, Casa Far Niente has a limited published record. Its debut was covered in a launch feature on Mikayla's perfume blog, hosted on the fragrance community site Parfumo, where its perfumes carry a community-aggregated average rating of 7.1 out of 10 [5]. The house also maintains designer and individual-fragrance entries on Fragrantica.
Current status
Casa Far Niente is active. Its website is fully operational and shipping internationally, its five-fragrance line remains on sale with Après Alpine listed as a recent release, and founder Philip Deml continues to maintain a visible social-media presence. Its pace — five fragrances released within about two years — points to ongoing development for a young, founder-led house.
