Overview
Colorwin is a Czech haircare brand based in Bystrice, in the eastern Czech Republic, that specialises in products for covering gray hair and visible roots between colouring sessions. It was founded in 2015 by pharmacist Jolanta Kantor and is run as a family business, with manufacturing handled locally by Joalya land s.r.o. [1][2] The brand remains active, selling across the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, with its most recent blog content dated to late 2025.
The company built its range around a silicone-free root-concealer spray that it describes as the first Czech spray of its kind, and has since expanded into powders, shampoos, hair serums and supplements aimed at women aged 35 and over and men aged 40 and over.
Origin and founders
Colorwin was created by Jolanta Kantor, who holds a pharmacy degree and worked in pharmacies for close to 25 years before starting the company; according to the brand she previously co-owned five pharmacies. [1] The idea came from a personal problem. Kantor recounts that, starting around age 35, she "searched for a way to quickly and easily cover gray roots every month" and could not find a product that satisfied her. After coming across a similar product in the United States, she chose to develop her own formula rather than import an existing one. [1]
The brand site presents her academic title as "PharmDr.", the standard Czech pharmacy doctorate, in its founder-history account, while the main about page renders it "PhamDr." [1][2] Kantor's husband, who the company says brought 25 years of business experience, joined as co-manager, and Colorwin continues to describe itself as a Czech family-owned company.
Products and innovation
Development of the original spray took three years. The brand's central technical claim is that it replaced silicone with methylal as the carrier substance, which it says prevents the product from building up on the hair; Colorwin states that utility-model protection was filed for the spray composition. [3] The company frames silicone-free formulation as its main point of difference from competing root-touch-up products.
The catalogue centres on the Root Concealer Spray, sold in a 75 ml format in shades spanning blonde to dark brown, alongside a root-cover and volume powder offered in five tones. [4] Over time the range has grown to include shampoos — among them formulas aimed at men and at reducing the appearance of gray hair — root touch-up sticks, gift sets, and hair-health products. The brand markets a Hair Elixir Serum containing the ingredient Baicapil, which it describes as having "clinically proven" results, and shampoos featuring royal walnut extract and the Canadian-patented ingredient Actixil. [5] Colorwin also says its powders are made up of 99% ingredients of natural origin.
Philosophy and positioning
Colorwin frames its approach around three stated principles: simplicity, functionality and naturalness. [2] The company positions its products as a fast, low-effort alternative to full hair dyeing for people managing gray roots, summarising the proposition in messaging such as "cover gray hair quickly and easily." Kantor's stated view is that "for hair to look beautiful, it must be healthy and its structure cannot be disrupted by unnecessary chemicals." [2]
On formulation, the brand explicitly rejects parabens and liquid silicones, arguing that silicones "do not decompose even after 30 years," and says its production does not negatively affect the environment. [7] These claims are made by the company and are not independently certified; the brand lists no third-party certifications.
Distribution
Colorwin operates as a multi-channel brand across three Central European markets — the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland — selling through drugstores, retail chains, pharmacies and e-shops. [7] Named retail partners include the drugstore chains DM and Rossmann, and Czech outlets such as TETA, Pharmos, DrMax and JoJo Drogerie. Products sit at a drugstore price tier. The manufacturer of record is Joalya land s.r.o. of Bystrice, with the online shop operated by a separate company, PCsupport.cz s.r.o. [6]
Recognition
Colorwin has not reported formal awards. Third-party coverage is concentrated in Czech consumer media: the women's portal žena-in.cz tested its sprays and hair elixir, the review site testuj.to published product tests, and the magazine PrimaŽena featured the brand in November 2018.
Current status
The brand is active. Its website continues to publish editorial blog posts — the most recent, on rice water for hair, dates to around November 2025 — and it maintains an expanding product range and active distribution through drugstore chains across the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Its scope remains regional to Central and Eastern Europe rather than global.
