Summary

Overview

Coolike is a German brand of wet wipes and moist towels made by Coolike-Regnery GmbH, a company based in Bensheim. The company dates its work in wet wipes to 1979 [4], and its range spans refreshment wipes, terry-cloth Oshibori towels, aromatherapy-scented "function" wipes, gel compresses and a separate line of cleaning and disinfection products. According to the company, its refreshment towels are known from restaurant and airline service.

For most of its history Coolike was described as a family-run company. In June 2026 the industrial holding GraVo Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, based in Essen, announced that it was acquiring Coolike-Regnery together with its sister company WAREG Verpackungs-GmbH [12]. The brand continues to operate under its own name within the new group, and its status is best described as acquired rather than independent.

Origin & founders

According to the company, Coolike has offered wet wipes "in various wipe materials, packaging sizes and applications" since 1979 [4]. That founding year is also given in independent business press coverage of the 2026 sale, which describes Coolike-Regnery GmbH as founded in 1979 and specialised in wet wipes and hygiene products [11].

No founders are publicly named, and no founding story has been published. The company is registered at Lilienthalstraße in Bensheim, which remains its base.

History & milestones

Coolike's public history is told mostly through its products rather than through dated events. The company presents itself as having been "the towelmaker" for refreshment, wellness, cleaning and disinfection for more than 40 years, and it says its refreshment towels became a fixed service item for international airlines. On its English homepage it also describes these towels as the product with the most fans in the pharmaceutical sector, a claim that comes from the company itself.

Over time the business broadened from simple refreshment wipes into several distinct lines. These now include Oshibori wellness towels, the scented Feel Good series, gel compresses for hot and cold use, and a disinfection and cleaning range sold under the names Vibasept and Prohygsan, alongside office-cleaning, eyeglass-care and technical cleaning wipes.

The company has also worked in the promotional-products trade, where branded wipes are printed with a customer's logo as giveaways. In January 2024 Coolike exhibited at PSI, a promotional-products trade fair held in Düsseldorf.

The most significant recent event is the change of ownership. On 24 June 2026 the company's own news page carried the headline that GraVo was taking over WAREG and Coolike [5], and the deal was reported in the German business press in early July 2026.

Ownership

Until 2026 Coolike-Regnery GmbH was owned by a family. Its company page described it as a family-run business, and it named WAREG Verpackungs-GmbH, also based in Bensheim, as part of the same group of companies. According to Coolike, WAREG manufactures the Coolike brands and also works as a contract packer, filler and producer for the personal-care and detergent industries.

In June 2026 GraVo Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH announced that it was acquiring both WAREG and Coolike-Regnery [12]. Business magazine Unternehmeredition reported that GraVo, an industrial holding company based in Essen, bought the two companies from the previous owner family, and that the purchase price and other transaction details were not disclosed [11]. The law firm GÖRG advised GraVo on the corporate legal side of the deal.

Sources differ on how Coolike describes its own ownership. The English version of the company page still refers to Coolike as "a family-run company" with no parent named [4], while GraVo's press release, the brand's own news headline and its legal notice all reflect the new owner. The legal notice now lists Klaus Grabowsky, who is quoted as GraVo's spokesman in the press release, as managing director [10]. The family-run description appears to predate the sale, and this article follows the more recent sources, which name GraVo as the parent.

GraVo's announcement said that the existing locations, expertise and contacts at WAREG and Coolike would be kept and developed within the group. GraVo's other companies cover industrial cosmetics and perfume production (Cosmetic Service), project and product development (CSE-Cosmetics), small-batch contract manufacturing in Slovenia (B4U Laboratories) and scented candles (Asterblume). In the press release, Grabowsky said the combined group could offer services from product concept and formulation through manufacturing, filling and packaging to market launch.

Philosophy & positioning

Coolike positions itself first as a manufacturer rather than a consumer lifestyle brand. The company stresses flexible service, "modern manufacturing techniques" and strict, continuous quality checks at every production stage, and it says its processes follow European Union legal requirements. A recurring line on its website is "Products directly from the manufacturer – Made in Germany", and its product pages state that printing and production take place in Germany.

The brand's tagline, "Die Dusche in der Tasche", appears on the English site as "The shower in your pocket". It sums up the core idea of the range: a single sealed towel that refreshes the face and hands on the move.

Much of Coolike's business is with other companies. Its products are sold as retail items, as promotional merchandise and as private-label goods, and the company says they are supplied to retail chains, discounters, promotional-product dealers, pharmacies and industrial firms. Unternehmeredition adds airlines to that list of customers [11]. On its homepage the company names a number of business clients, among them Ballistol, KTM and Dräger.

Products & innovation

The original Coolike refreshment wipes are made from soft cotton, viscose nonwoven or paper nonwoven, according to the company. They are produced without alcohol, which Coolike puts at less than 0.01 per cent, and the brand says this makes them gentle on skin and suitable for use in the sun. Scented variants include lavender, aloe vera and lemon. A viscose line sold as Coolette comes in versions named nature, Sommerfrische ("summer freshness") and Winterzauber ("winter magic"), while a paper crepe version serves as the low-cost option.

The OSHIBORI Wellnesstücher take their name from oshibori, a damp towel, usually terry cloth, offered hot or cold to a guest. Coolike describes the line as its take on this tradition, adding fragrances and selected ingredients to cotton terry towels. The company says these towels are known from restaurants, airline service and as a care cloth after a cosmetic treatment [8].

The Funktionstücher, or function wipes, form the Feel Good wellbeing series of six products. Each is soaked in a liquid based on herbal extracts or essential oils and aimed at a specific everyday situation. Examples include the Einschlaftuch, intended to help with falling asleep, the Stresstuch, scented for calm, a wipe for the onset of a cold, and a cooling wipe with clove oil for insect stings. Coolike says the function wipes are dermatologically tested and suitable for all skin types [9].

Beyond personal care, Coolike makes gel compresses for cooling and warming, and a range of cleaning and disinfection wipes, including eyeglass-care products. These sit outside beauty but share the same manufacturing base.

Sustainability

Coolike has moved much of its range away from plastic-based materials. The company states that more than 90 per cent of its nonwoven towels have been switched to 100 per cent viscose without plastic [2]. It also says that many of its spray bottles are made from 97 per cent recycled material, and that its newer generation of cloths is biodegradable and comes in packaging that is up to 95 per cent recyclable. Its cotton terry Oshibori towels and its function wipes are likewise described as plastic-free and biodegradable. No third-party certifications for these claims are documented.

Current status

Coolike is an active brand under new ownership. Its website remains live with its full product range, and its most recent news item, dated 24 June 2026, announced the takeover by GraVo. According to GraVo, Coolike keeps its identity, locations and customer relationships within the group, with Klaus Grabowsky now serving as managing director.
