Summary

Overview

Coquillete parfum, presented as Coquillete Paris, is a French-Italian niche perfume house created by Rosa Vaia in 2012 [9]. The line was built in Paris at the end of that year by two founders who had met in the city, and it pairs a French high-perfumery framing with Italian craft [7]. The brand is operated from Milan by the single-member company Vieffe Noselab S.r.l., and its fragrances are packaged by hand in Italy.

The house remains active. Its website publishes regular blog content into early 2026, and it launched three new fragrances in December 2025, so the brand is a small but working niche operation rather than a dormant one [4].

Origin and founders

Coquillete was started by Elise Juarros and Rosa Vaia, who met in Paris roughly a decade before founding the line. According to an interview with the founders, Elise had been interning in the fragrance department at Yves Saint Laurent, while Rosa came to perfumery from a marketing and economics background in Milan and New York before relocating to Paris. The pair decided "at the end of 2012" to build their own range of perfumes [7]. Fragrantica records the same founding year and credits Rosa Vaia as founder, alongside a second perfumer, Luigi Marigliano, described as a talent who emerged from a Coquillete contest [9].

The brand's binational character runs through how it presents itself: it is consistently described as a "Paris-based French-Italian" house combining Italian elegance with French perfumery know-how [9]. Its origin is therefore framed as French, even though its corporate base sits in Italy (see Ownership).

Ownership

The operating company behind Coquillete is Vieffe Noselab S.r.l., a società a socio unico (single-member company) registered at Via Corrado Alvaro 10 in Milan, Italy [5]. The brand page lists the same entity as the company behind the label. No acquisitions or ownership changes are recorded in the available sources.

This produces a genuine split between brand identity and operating base. The house markets itself as French ("Coquillete Paris") and traces its creative origin to Paris [9], while the legal entity, headquarters and hand-finishing are all in Italy. Sources differ on which to treat as the brand's home country: Fragrantica and the brand's own Paris-facing identity point to France, whereas the company's legal filings place it in Milan, Italy. Both are accurate to different facets of the same house.

Philosophy and positioning

Coquillete frames perfumery as an art form. In its brand copy, the company says it was "born from an artistic vision of perfumery" and aims to let each person "rediscover themselves in a perfume," with respect for their own uniqueness. Its tagline, "Riscoprire la propria unicità in una fragranza" (rediscover your uniqueness in a fragrance), restates that idea, and the brand describes its perfumes as a means of self-expression "beyond every convention." In the founders' words, the wider mission is to use fragrance to "fix memories and bring them to life again and again."

The range sits in the niche luxury tier, with 100ml formats priced in the region of €190–€220, and individual scents dedicated to specific people, places and concepts rather than sorted into conventional fragrance families. The brand sells through a network of authorised retailers, directing customers to the nearest official stockist via its store locator.

Products and innovation

Coquillete's catalogue runs to roughly two dozen fragrances, among them Vesevius, Sumatera, Herat, Sulmona, Moramanga, Tan Tan and Tudor; the founders single out several of these as signature scents. Vesevius, a Naples-themed scent, is described by the brand as the most loved and most imitated perfume about Naples it has produced [4]. Sumatera is highlighted in the founder interview for using green patchouli from Sumatra extracted by local artisans using glass, which the brand characterises as a method no other fragrance employs.

A recurring product detail is the house's velvet-covered black packaging. The founders explain that it is not only an aesthetic choice but a technical one: because the fragrances are made at a high perfume concentration, they need protection from direct sunlight. On concentration itself the sources diverge — the founder interview states that all the fragrances are Extrait de Parfum at 20% concentration [7], while a third-party retailer catalogue lists them as Eau de Parfum [8]. The brand-sourced figure is the more authoritative of the two.

Production is carried out to what the company calls the highest production standards, with every fragrance "packaged by hand, with love, in Italy" [2]. The brand also states a general commitment to sustainability and innovation, but publishes no specific goals, metrics or certifications to support it.

Recognition

Coquillete states that it was included in a Vogue Italia feature on "20 perfume bottles that made history" [2]. The house and its founders have been covered in niche-perfumery press, including an editorial interview on The Olfactive and news items on Fragrantica reporting new releases [10].

Current status

The brand is active. Its blog has been updated on a roughly monthly to bi-monthly basis, with the most recent post dated 5 February 2026, and three new fragrances — Portrait of a Witch, Underdog and Solo Amber — were launched in December 2025 [4]. Fragrantica's designer listing of around 29 fragrances, with the newest dated 2025, is consistent with continued output. Coquillete remains a small French-Italian niche house operated from Milan.
