Summary

Overview

CP-1 is a South Korean professional hair-care brand launched in 2014 as a sub-brand of the Seoul cosmetics company Esthetic House Co., Ltd. [8] The line is built around treatments that combine ceramide, protein and amino acids, and it positions itself as salon-quality care designed for use at home. CP-1 remains active, with a current product range sold on the Esthetic House website, its own dedicated sub-site, and a number of international K-beauty retailers.

The brand belongs to the wider K-beauty export wave of the 2010s, when Korean skincare and hair-care lines found audiences well beyond Korea. According to the wholesale profile by Q-depot, CP-1 "was launched back in 2014 and become popular all over the world," and the company credits the line with giving Esthetic House much of its commercial momentum.

Origin & ownership

CP-1 is one of several product lines operated by Esthetic House Co., Ltd., a Korean cosmetics company that traces its corporate history to a predecessor business, GM Cosmetics, active from 1993 to 2004, before Esthetic House itself was established in 2005. [2] The parent company runs other lines alongside CP-1, including its in-house Esthetic House cosmetics range and body- and oral-care lines.

The company is based in the Gangdong-gu district of Seoul. Public listings for the chief executive are not fully consistent: the Esthetic House homepage footer and the dedicated CP-1 site both name Sung Han-ju (성한주) as CEO, [1][4] while the company's about page has been recorded as listing Sung Min-jung in the same role. [2] The CP-1 site identifies Sung Min-jung separately as the company's personal-information manager, which suggests the about-page reference may reflect a mix-up between the two roles rather than a change of leadership. The brand's founders are not published.

History & milestones

CP-1 launched in 2014, and Esthetic House records the line as having set Coupang's highest single-item sales figure that year — Coupang being one of Korea's largest online retailers. [2] In the period that followed, the parent company began expanding internationally, reaching markets including Taiwan, New Zealand and Hong Kong from around 2015. The brand has since become a recurring presence on cross-border K-beauty retail platforms in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Philosophy & positioning

CP-1 presents itself as professional, salon-grade hair care made accessible for everyday use. StyleKorean's brand profile summarises the idea as "a special experience where an ordinary place turns into a hair salon," and gives the line the tagline "SO EASY! JUST TRY!" The same profile describes CP-1 as a "total hair solution designed with trendy hair artists' knowhow" and makes a strong sales claim — "No.1 brand in hair products that sells four in one minute." [5]

The positioning sits within the parent company's stated outlook. Esthetic House's CEO message stresses products "faithful to basics over trends" and says the company avoids spending on celebrity marketing in order to hold quality and pricing steady. [2] In practice CP-1 is aimed at people with dry, damaged or chemically treated hair who want intensive, restorative care.

Products & innovation

The line centres on the combination of keratin, ceramide, amino acids, protein and hydrolyzed silk — proteins and lipids the brand frames as essential to hair health. [6] Its most frequently cited products include the CP-1 Premium Hair Treatment, described on the CP-1 site as a "ceramide treatment protein repair system"; the 3 Seconds Hair Fill-Up ampoule; and several shampoos, among them a Protein Shampoo and the Aquaxyl Complex Intense Moisture Shampoo. A Pink Salt Scalp Scaler, a scalp treatment using Himalayan pink salt, rounds out the scalp-care side of the range.

CP-1 markets a handful of named formulation approaches around these products, including its Aquaxyl Complex, the ceramide-based protein repair system, and the 3 Seconds Hair Fill-Up technology that gives one of its signature lines its name. [4] The products are manufactured in South Korea by Esthetic House. [6]

Recognition & press

CP-1 has been covered by K-beauty specialist outlets rather than mainstream awards. The retailer editorial at BBcreamshop describes it as "the leading brand in Korean Hair Care," [7] and the review site Kbeautynotes characterises the line as a Korean brand "which creates salon-quality hair products," reaching a mixed verdict in a hands-on test of its damaged-hair set. [6] The Premium Hair Treatment and the 3 Seconds Hair Fill-Up ampoule are the products most often singled out across these profiles.

Current status

CP-1 is an active brand. Its CP-1 category on the Esthetic House site lists a current portfolio of products across shampoos and conditioners, styling, scalp and hair-loss care, and general hair care, and a dedicated CP-1 sub-site remains in operation. The line continues to be distributed through international K-beauty retailers, and is present on several Nordic markets.
