Overview
d'Alba, styled in full as d'Alba Piedmont, is a South Korean skincare brand based in Seoul. It is built around an unusual conceit for a K-beauty label: white truffles from the Piedmont region of Italy, which the company casts as the centrepiece of an antioxidant-focused skincare range. The brand pairs what it calls "timeless Italian elegance" with Korean manufacturing and formulation.
The company was incorporated in 2016 under the name B Monument Co., Ltd. and later traded as d'Alba Global Co., Ltd. [11] It rose to wider international attention in the early 2020s, helped by a viral facial mist and a K-pop ambassador, and reports overseas sales reaching roughly 100 million US dollars in 2024 [14]. The brand remains active, with current 2026 collections and ongoing campaigns.
Origin & founders
d'Alba was founded by Seongyeon Ban, listed on the company's own site as its chief executive. Romanisations of the founder's name vary across sources — including Sung Yeon Ban and Seong-yeon Baek — but they refer to the same person; this article uses the spelling the brand itself publishes. According to a company-registry profile, the business was established on 9 March 2016 as B Monument Co., Ltd. before adopting the d'Alba corporate name [11].
The founding year is not entirely settled. The registry and several corroborating sources place incorporation in 2016, while the retailer-editorial profile Skin Cupid states the brand was founded in 2014 [9]. The brand's own website does not list a founding year. The earlier date may reflect a brand-development period rather than the legal incorporation.
The concept traces to the white truffle. Industry coverage reports that Ban was personally drawn to the history and properties of white truffles grown in Piedmont, Italy, and built the brand around combining that Italian inspiration with Korean innovation.
Philosophy & positioning
d'Alba positions itself at the premium end of K-beauty, organising its identity around the slogan "Own your glow. Unveil your allure." On its site the company says it "harness[es] the power of rare white truffles from the pristine Piedmont region of Italy" and blends "timeless Italian elegance with a bold new-generation attitude." The brand describes its approach in terms of "quiet confidence," "clean formulas," "elegant textures," and "proven results," and frames luxury as something "redefined through intention."
Its stated aim, as paraphrased in trade coverage, is to offer products at reasonable prices while using what it calls the most luxurious ingredients. In practice the range spans serums, sunscreens, toners, cleansers, masks, hair and body care, and a beauty device, sold across multiple markets including Australia, China, Germany, Singapore and the United States.
Products & innovation
The brand's signature ingredient is Trufferol, a proprietary compound it says it developed by combining white truffle extract with tocopherol (vitamin E) [3]. d'Alba presents Trufferol as the active behind its firming and antioxidant claims, asserting on its ingredient page that the compound is "clinically proven to be 569% more effective than Propolis" [3]; the Skin Cupid profile cites a related brand figure of an 11.96-fold improvement in elasticity and firmness over propolis [9]. White truffle is described as rich in vitamin C, vitamin B12, amino acids and minerals.
The defining product is the White Truffle First Spray Serum, a facial mist that doubles as a makeup setting spray. The company reports more than 50 million bottles sold globally [1], and the mist has acquired a following of its own — known colloquially in Korea as the "flight attendant mist" and ranked, per industry coverage, as the number-one best-selling face mist on Amazon in November 2024 [12]. Other lines include the White Truffle Double Serum & Cream and a range of Waterfull tone-up and essence sunscreens.
The company states that its products are made in South Korea and that all formulas have undergone non-stimulatory clinical testing at the KDRI, reporting zero points for skin irritation [11].
Sustainability
d'Alba is described as a vegan brand. The third-party site Ethical Elephant reports that all of the brand's products are "100% vegan" and free of animal-derived ingredients or by-products [13], and the brand and press coverage also describe it as cruelty-free.
Recognition
Much of d'Alba's recent visibility is tied to celebrity association. In 2023 the brand appointed Hoshi, a member of the K-pop group SEVENTEEN, as its Korean ambassador; the following year his role was extended to global ambassador for all of Asia [8]. The White Truffle First Spray Serum has also been reported as a favourite of RM of BTS [9]. The brand has been profiled by titles including Billboard, Global Cosmetic Industry, Happi and Vogue Singapore.
The growth narrative drew its own coverage: trade press reported a 210% year-on-year jump in overseas sales, rising to about 100 million US dollars in 2024 [14].
Current status
The brand is active and operating globally. Its website carries 2026 content, including an award-season blog post referencing Olivia Culpo and SZA and a featured "Palvin Prep Collection," and recent campaigns continue across its markets. d'Alba describes itself as one of Korea's leading independent skincare brands by revenue.
