Summary

Overview

DermEden is a French skincare brand built around two concerns: hyperpigmentation, meaning dark spots and uneven skin tone, and skin ageing. It is run by Laboratoires DermEden, a small Paris company whose co-founder and medical director is a dermatologist presented by the brand as Dr. Nicolas. The company sells concentrated "medi-aesthetic" treatments along two tracks. One is a set of professional protocols for doctors working in aesthetic clinics; the other is a line of daily routines meant for use at home. Its English tagline, "Clinics & Home MediEsthetic Solutions", sums up that split.

The company behind the brand was entered in France's national business register in June 2008 and is still listed there as active [10]. DermEden has been a regular sponsor of IMCAS, an aesthetic-medicine congress held in Paris, and is named among the sponsors of its January 2027 edition [8].

Origin & founders

DermEden introduces itself as a "laboratoire français créé par un Docteur Dermatologue", a French laboratory created by a dermatologist who specialises in hyperpigmentation and anti-ageing. The brand names Dr. Nicolas as its co-founder and medical director [2]. According to the company, he heads a centre for dermatological and aesthetic surgery in Paris and is a former chef de clinique, a senior teaching-hospital post, at the Hôpitaux de Paris.

The idea the brand describes is a simple one: take the active ingredients and routines a dermatologist uses in practice and turn them into products that work in two settings, the treatment room and the bathroom shelf. The company repeats this framing in its entry in the member directory of Cosmetic Valley, a French cosmetics industry cluster. There it describes itself as co-founded by a French dermatologist, inspired by his medical practice, and offering anti-ageing care both for doctors' clinics and for home use [9].

A second figure appears alongside the dermatologist on the brand's own pages. Hajir Hakim Hashemi is presented as president and chief executive, with 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. The Cosmetic Valley directory lists him as the company's president.

History & milestones

The public timeline is short. The legal entity Laboratoires DermEden was created on 10 June 2008, according to the French Sirene business register. That is the date the company was registered, and no separate launch year for the product line is documented.

The brand's own statements about how long it has been active do not quite agree. Its homepage says it has treated hyperpigmentation and wrinkles "depuis plus de 18 ans", for more than 18 years [1]. Its brand page instead speaks of 15 years of expertise in hyperpigmentation and wrinkle treatment [2]. The longer figure lines up with the 2008 registration; neither page gives a founding year.

In April 2023 the company registered a new head-office establishment in Paris, with the postal code 75009 [10]. Its terms of sale still give a registered office in Paris under the postal code 75002. Both addresses are in the same city, and only the district differs.

Much of the brand's visible history since then runs through IMCAS. DermEden has been listed as a sponsor of the congress every year from 2023 onwards. In 2025 it took part as a bronze sponsor. As of late 2026, it was again listed as a bronze sponsor of IMCAS World 2027, scheduled for 28 to 30 January 2027 in Paris and online.

The company's blog has presented several products as new additions, among them Lumixderm, a daily lightening cream aimed at pigment spots, and Brume Retouche UV SPF 50, a sun-protection mist designed to be reapplied during the day. The posts carry no publication dates.

Ownership

Laboratoires DermEden is a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS). Its terms of sale identify the seller as Laboratoires DermEden Paris S.A.S., with share capital of 40,000 euros [5]. The national register classifies it as a small or medium-sized enterprise with between six and nine employees, and records its main activity as the manufacture of perfumes and toiletries [10].

The company is presided over by Hashemi. No parent company or holding group is named in its terms of sale, and no acquisitions involving the brand are documented.

Philosophy & positioning

DermEden describes itself as an "expert du photo-vieillissement", an expert in photo-ageing. Its FAQ defines photo-ageing as the premature decline of the skin caused by exposure to light. On its homepage the brand lists three further principles next to that one: formulas drawn from science, high doses of active ingredients, and dermatological protocols.

The "medi-aesthetic" label is central to how the company presents itself. It uses the term for care built on anti-ageing molecules taken from aesthetic medicine, sold in professional formats for clinics and in simpler routines for daily use at home. The home routines are described as made to measure and inspired by clinic practice. An online skin diagnostic on the brand's website is intended to match buyers with a routine, and a subscription service delivers products automatically at a chosen interval.

High concentration is the brand's main selling point. The brand page gives the strength of its active ingredients as ranging from 15% to 37% [2], and quotes 19% to 36% for its day and night protocols. The company's own IMCAS profile gives a slightly different range of 19% to 37% [7].

DermEden is distributed through aesthetic clinics, dermatologists and pharmacies, as well as through its own online shop, which according to its FAQ ships worldwide. Doctors can sign up for a separate professional account. The figures the company gives for its professional reach vary from text to text. Its homepage and brand page speak of more than 5,000 clinics, dermatologists and pharmacies, and the same brand page also cites 6,000. Its IMCAS profile mentions more than 3,000 aesthetic clinics and dermatologists [7]. The brand page further says its products are sold in 40 countries across four continents and that eight million treatments have been sold [2]. None of these numbers has been independently confirmed.

Products & innovation

The home range covers day creams, night creams, concentrates, cleansers and make-up removers, along with a small body-care line. Products are also grouped by concern, including pigment spots, pigmented dark circles, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dehydration, dullness, sun protection and excess oil. A third grouping arranges them into protocols named Mela, Day, Hydra, Night, Specific and Concentrate.

The homepage highlights a handful of products as its "produits stars". Among them is the Concentré anti-taches TXA 5%, an anti-spot concentrate; TXA is the usual abbreviation for tranexamic acid. Others include the Crème de jour 4 en 1 for combination to oily skin and a DD Cream. Two further products receive large banners of their own: Advanced Peel, a two-step pre-peel and peel, and the Lumixderm lightening cream.

The active ingredients the company names include tranexamic acid, niacinamide, encapsulated retinol, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, gluconolactone, dioic acid and matrikines, a type of peptide. The homepage quotes 5% niacinamide, 1% encapsulated retinol and 3.25% non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid as examples of its dosages.

For clinic use, the professional line DermEdenPRO offers three treatment protocols: Mela-Protocole, Post-Act Protocole and Refine-Protocole.

The company backs its products with its own testing claims. It lists in vivo and in vitro efficacy tests on its active molecules, including measurements of procollagen, elastin fibres and enzymes. It also cites wrinkle analysis with an Antera 3D imaging device, colour measurement by spectrophotometry, skin-hydration readings, shine testing, tests for pore-clogging and real-life use trials. A badge on its website reads "Efficacité prouvée cliniquement", clinically proven efficacy, and the FAQ says the products suit all skin types after dermatological control and sensitivity testing.

All products are made in France, the company states [3]. No vegan, cruelty-free or third-party certifications are documented for the brand.

Current status

DermEden is active. The French business register lists Laboratoires DermEden as an operating company with no closure date, and the brand's online shop carries a 2026 copyright notice. Its most recent announced activity is its bronze sponsorship of IMCAS World 2027 in Paris [8]. The company remains small and Paris-based, with a reach that, by its own account, extends to 40 countries.
