Dripping Gold is an Irish self-tan brand launched in 2018 by Suzanne Jackson as a dedicated tanning line within her company, SOSU Cosmetics [6]. Dripping Gold was created by Suzanne Jackson, an Irish makeup artist who became a beauty blogger and later an entrepreneur. Jackson, born in Dublin in 1984, built an online following through her SoSueMe blog before moving into product lines. She first launched a nail polish range in 2014 and then founded the cosmetics brand SOSU the following year [5]. In 2018 she extended the company into sunless tanning with Dripping Gold, which the company frames as the tanning arm of the wider SOSU group.

Dripping Gold is one of several brands operated under SOSU Cosmetics, alongside the core SOSU makeup line, Bahama Body and Bahama Skin. The company's accounts are filed under the parent entity Cohar Ltd, which reported profits of around 2.12 million euros in 2020 [6]. Sources differ on when the parent brand began: SOSU Cosmetics states on its own site that it was founded in 2015 [2], while Wikipedia records the founding as 2016 [6]. Both sources agree that Dripping Gold itself launched in 2018.

In July 2022, Jackson stepped down as chief executive of her SOSU brands, and Caroline Dalton was named as her successor that October [6]. The change was reported in the Irish press at the time [11]. Jackson retained ownership of the brands rather than selling them.

The brand presents itself as a tanning range that also looks after the skin, promising a sun-kissed glow without sun exposure. According to the company, its products are "infused with skin-loving ingredients to ensure luminous holiday skin without the sun." Dripping Gold's core messaging is summarised in the tagline "The good stuff, minus the guesswork," which the company links to its product development and curated recommendations for users.

Dripping Gold's range spans several tanning formats, including mousse, serum, liquid and spray formulations, together with tan-prep, tan-removal and finishing products such as shimmer oils. Its best-selling product is the Luxury Mousse, which the company describes as a "silky-smooth formula" delivering a bronze finish in shades from Medium through Dark to Ultra Dark [4]. Other signature items include the Liquid Luxe Tan, the Luxury Tanning Serum, the Express Tanning Serum and a Professional Spray Tan solution aimed at salon use.

The formulas are built around hydrating and conditioning actives. The company lists hyaluronic acid, vitamins A and E, and plant extracts including goji berry, chamomile, rosemary leaf and acai berry among the ingredients in its mousse [4]. Products carry a PETA logo indicating they are cruelty-free and vegan, and the brand states that they are "proudly made in Ireland."

A 2026 review on the niche site SelfTanning.com rated the Luxury Mousse 4.5 out of 5, praising its deep golden colour and pleasant scent while criticising its dark guide colour, which the reviewer found prone to streaking, and its relatively high price [7]. The brand's own materials note that Dripping Gold remains a bestseller at Boots and claim it has sold millions of units worldwide [5].

In 2016, the parent brand SOSU Cosmetics faced criticism over its private-labelling production methods, a claim Jackson disputed [6]. The matter concerned SOSU Cosmetics as a whole rather than Dripping Gold specifically.

Dripping Gold is active. It maintains an e-commerce presence with a current product range, including pre-order items, and continues to be stocked across EU and UK retail. No sale, acquisition or wind-down of the brand has been recorded; the 2022 leadership change saw Jackson move out of the chief-executive role while retaining ownership of the SOSU brands.
