Overview
DS Laboratories is a United States personal-care company specialising in hair-loss and skincare products built around nanotechnology-based delivery systems. It is based in Miami, Florida, and sells in more than 50 countries. The company was founded in 2007 as part of Divine Skin Inc., which was later renamed DS Healthcare Group [5]. In June 2024 the Uruguayan pharmaceutical group Megalabs acquired a majority stake, reported at over 100 million US dollars, making DS Laboratories a majority-owned subsidiary while it continues to operate and market under its own name [5].
The brand's founding date is recorded inconsistently. Independent editorial and press coverage place the launch in 2007 [5], whereas the company's own website carries conflicting "years in business" counters — 13 years on its about page and 16 on its homepage, which would imply a later start around 2010.

Origin and history
DS Laboratories began as part of Divine Skin Inc., co-founded by Daniel Khesin, and grew around delivery technology intended to carry active ingredients deeper into the skin and scalp. The parent business was renamed DS Healthcare Group and went public on the NASDAQ exchange in 2012 [5]. In 2014 the company opened its first DS Laboratories Hair Recovery Clinic in Coral Gables, Florida.
Leadership later passed to Fernando Tamez, who serves as chief executive. According to the company, Tamez's interest in the field grew from the realisation that a family predisposition to hair loss need not determine an individual's outcome.
Ownership
On 1 June 2024, Megalabs announced that it had taken a majority stake in DS Laboratories in a deal that industry sources valued at more than 100 million US dollars [5]. Megalabs is described in the acquisition coverage as a pharmaceutical and supplement company headquartered in Canelones, Uruguay. Tamez retained a minority stake and remained as chief executive, and the roughly 200-person workforce stayed in place. The acquisition was framed as a way to expand the brand's reach into dermatology: Tamez noted that Megalabs fields several thousand dermatology representatives, against the 40 medical representatives DS Laboratories had employed on its own.
Products and innovation
The company's catalogue spans haircare — shampoos, conditioners, topical treatments, supplements and devices — and skincare, including serums, moisturisers and acne products. Hair-loss products account for the large majority of sales [5]. Its best-known lines are Revita, sold as a high-performance hair-density shampoo and conditioner and as Revita Tablets, and the Spectral range, including the Spectral.DNC-N hair-density serum [5]. The product range also includes the StimuRoller micro-needling device.
Central to the company's positioning is its proprietary technology. DS Laboratories describes its Advanced Nanosome Delivery System as a method that encapsulates active ingredients in nano-sized liposomes to improve how much reaches the skin. The company also markets Nanoxidil 5%, which it presents as a hair-loss treatment molecule it developed with a lower molecular weight intended for faster penetration [3]. The brand says its products are tested in double-blind clinical trials, and its hero ingredients include vitamin C and hyaluronic acid in the skincare line. Products are formulated without sodium lauryl and laureth sulfates.
Philosophy and positioning
DS Laboratories frames its work around what it calls a mission to change the personal-care landscape through innovative technology, summarised in three pillars it labels "keep it simple," "keep it real" and "keep it going." The company trades under the tagline "Let's get you there." Its products are positioned in a professional price band, roughly 25 to 40 US dollars, and distributed through e-commerce across more than 50 countries, with the United States, Mexico and China cited as its largest markets [5].
Recognition
The brand's Revita shampoo has drawn consumer-press attention as a hair-growth product, including coverage that described it as a viral shampoo on TikTok [4]. Other features have appeared in publications such as Glamour, Men's Health, People, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan, generally within round-ups of shampoos and treatments for thinning hair [4].
Current status
DS Laboratories is an actively operating brand that, since June 2024, has been majority-owned by Megalabs [5]. At the time of that acquisition it was reported to be on track to surpass 60 million US dollars in sales for the year and was selling in more than 50 countries [5]. It continues to trade under the DS Laboratories name and maintains an active e-commerce site.
