Ecran

Ecran is a Spanish sun-care brand specialising in sunscreens, after-sun care and self-tanning products. It is based in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona, and is owned by the Spanish consumer-goods group AC Marca, which acquired it in 2006 [7]. According to market researcher Nielsen, Ecran led Spanish unit sales across sunscreens, after-sun and self-tanners in the first nine months of 2024 [1].

The brand presents itself as a long-established name in the category, stating that it has spent some sixty years "innovating for you" [5]. No explicit founding year appears on its own site or in the sources reviewed, and the original maker that preceded AC Marca's ownership is not identified.

Ecran belongs to AC Marca, trading as AC Marca Personal Care, S.L. The group was founded in 1922 by Antonio Marca Caricchio as a fabric-dye business and marked its centenary in 2022 [7]. AC Marca took on Ecran together with the Aftersun brand in 2006, describing the two at the time as "current leaders in sun protection and after-sun" [7]. The acquisition expanded the group's personal-care arm, which sits alongside its wider portfolio of household and adhesive brands including Norit, Sanytol, Ceys and the skincare line Lactovit. The company is headquartered at Avda. Carrilet in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona [4].

Ecran's range is organised around several lines. Sunnique covers facial and body sun protection, with formats spanning creams, milks, oils, sprays, mists and sticks across SPF levels from 10 to 50+. Aftersun handles post-sun repair and hydration, Denenes is aimed at children's sun protection, and Miracle Bronze offers self-tanning serums formulated with pro-ceramides and collagen peptides. In several markets the brand is known for its Ecran Lemonoil line, sold in distinctive orange bottles and built around carrot extract to encourage tanning [8].

The company frames its approach as a two-step routine: protect the skin during sun exposure with Sunnique, then repair it afterwards with Aftersun. It describes its positioning as "uncompromising sun protection" that is effective, safe and sustainable.

Ecran centres its product claims on proprietary technologies, the most prominent of which is VitEox80. The company describes it as an exclusive molecule "capable of recovering up to 80% of sun-damaged cellular DNA" [2], and lists further claimed benefits including protection against UV damage, pollution and blue light, along with anti-inflammatory and reparative properties. Two further branded technologies, PureBronze and Acti-Fresh, are also cited on the parent company's brand page [6]. Ecran states that its formulas are eco-designed and biodegradable and that its bottles are fully recyclable, framing the effort around circular-economy principles [3]. The brand publishes a set of environmental targets for 2030: a 75% cut in carbon-dioxide emissions per tonne manufactured, a 25% reduction in water use, and a 60% reduction in waste per tonne, with the aim of sending zero waste to landfill [3]. Ecran is active. Its website carried new product launches through 2026 — including a lip-and-face stick, a sun-protection spray and a face-and-body mist — with banner imagery dated to March 2026 [5]. The brand is distributed beyond Spain in markets including Italy and the Netherlands.
