Overview
Ejove, which trades as Ejove Laboratory, is a Spanish natural-cosmetics company based in the Canary Islands, in the town of Telde on Gran Canaria. It builds much of its range around Canarian aloe vera and other plant ingredients such as argan oil, almond oil, snail mucin and rosehip, and it both sells its own products and manufactures cosmetics for other brands. The company remains active, with a live online shop, a 2022 factory expansion and industry awards in 2022 and 2023.
The brand's name traces back to the French word JOIE (joy): the company says it began under that name for hypoallergenic products suited to all skin types, before becoming Ejove, which it glosses as "ser natural, ser joven" — be natural, be young.

Origin and name
Ejove describes its origin as the work of a group of professionals who wanted to contribute to better skin health and care, rooted in the Canary Islands. No founder is named publicly; the company's corporate history refers only to "a visionary entrepreneur" who founded it in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria [5].
The founding date is genuinely unsettled across the company's own materials. Its homepage, its "about" page and the regional Elaborado en Canarias (Made in Canarias) directory all place the start in the 1980s [9]. The corporate history site instead says Ejove has been a reference in natural cosmetics "since the 1990s" [5], while its white-label page describes "more than 30 years of experience" [6]. A September 2022 regional news report, citing the company, gave it "24 years of experience" working with native aloe vera — which would imply a start in the late 1990s rather than the 1980s [8]. Because these accounts cannot be reconciled, no single founding year is established. What is consistent is the company's account of the name change from JOIE to Ejove [5].
Products and ingredients
The company reports a catalogue of more than 100 commercial references across facial care, body care, hair care, anti-ageing, sun protection, children's products, a men's line (Ejove Men) and relaxation products. Its formulas centre on a small set of plant-derived active ingredients: aloe vera, argan oil, almond oil, snail mucin (baba de caracol) and rosehip (rosa mosqueta).
Aloe vera is the through-line. Ejove sells a pure aloe vera gel that, according to the company, is made from whole leaves of plants grown in the Canary Islands, and it pairs aloe with snail mucin in a face, hand and body cream [10]. An anti-ageing line, including a "Crema Anti-edad 24h", sits alongside these as a recurring product in third-party listings.
Philosophy and positioning
Ejove positions itself as a maker of natural cosmetics that blends traditional knowledge with technology. Its stated mission is to "develop original, natural formulas that respect the environment and care for the skin", and it lists creativity and passion, wisdom, and innovative, quality products among its core values. The tagline "Ser natural, ser joven" doubles as a gloss on the brand name.
The business runs on more than direct sales. Alongside its own retail and a franchise system, the company manufactures cosmetics on a white-label basis for third parties, naming Barceló Hotels, the retailer Douglas and the ferry operator Naviera Armas among its clients, and it offers consulting on cosmetic development and logistics [2]. A trade-magazine profile described Ejove as "100% Canarian" and as the largest cosmetic laboratory in the Canary Islands by capacity, producing in a wide range of formats [7].
Sustainability and certification
Ejove frames itself as an eco-sustainable manufacturer. The company says it has cut plastic in new packaging by more than 45% using recycled materials, reuses water through a reverse-osmosis purification system, and works with eco-certified ingredients [7]. It states that it does not test on animals, substituting tests with human volunteers, and lists Ecocert among its standards. Across its corporate and trade sources it cites quality and manufacturing certifications including ISO 9001 and ISO 22716, the standard for good manufacturing practice in cosmetics [8].
History and recognition
The company's most clearly dated milestone is the inauguration of new manufacturing facilities in Telde, in the El Goro industrial estate, on 1 September 2022; the event was attended by Telde councillor Héctor Suárez Morales, and Ejove said the expansion was intended to triple production [8]. The same coverage notes a collaboration with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
In awards, Ejove took a Silver Medal for an aftershave at the Pure Beauty Awards London 2022, and was a finalist in the hair-treatment category at the Pure Beauty Global Awards 2023 [7].
Current status
Ejove is active. It runs a live e-commerce site, expanded its production capacity in 2022, earned industry awards in 2022 and 2023, and maintains business-to-business and white-label operations with clients in Spain and abroad, including export reach into Latin America [7]. Its reported scope is primarily Spanish and Canarian, with international business-to-business and some export distribution rather than a global consumer footprint.
