Summary

Overview

Equa Care, also styled EQUACARE, is a Slovenian sustainable body and home care line. It was created by the team behind EQUA, a Ljubljana water-bottle company that the founders describe as a "sisterly brand," and it sells concentrated cleansing products that the customer mixes with tap water at home rather than buying pre-diluted [4]. The brand remains active, with an online store carrying current collections and retail distribution across parts of Europe, Sweden among them.

The name is shared with an unrelated product. A US medical-nutrition company, Ajinomoto Cambrooke, markets an amino-acid formula powder for children called "EquaCare Jr." [1]; that brand has no connection to the Slovenian personal-care line described here [13].

Origin and founders

Equa Care grew out of EQUA, a company founded in 2010 in Slovenia by Anže Miklavec and Stella Korošec [6][8]. EQUA's original business was reusable water bottles, built, in the founders' framing, "as a result of love for nature and healthy lifestyle" [6]. The company is based in Ljubljana, and Miklavec, its co-founder, also runs the coffee brand GOAT STORY.

According to EQUA, the body and home care line was introduced "after a year of researching, educating, and testing, designed to go beyond water bottles in building sustainable habits" [4]. It was crowdfunded on Kickstarter under the campaign title "EQUA CARE – Body & Home Care Products made sustainable" [12]. The exact year the line launched is not stated in available sources; the 2010 date refers to the parent company, not to Equa Care itself.

Philosophy and positioning

The line's central idea is concentration. The company says "the secret behind EQUACARE is in the natural powder formula — the only 1/10 you actually need when it comes to body and home care, with the rest being water that you add yourself" [2]. In practice, the customer adds warm tap water to a reusable dispenser, drops in a powdered refill, and the gel reaches its intended consistency within about fifteen minutes. The stated aim is to ship roughly a tenth of the volume and avoid transporting water, which the brand presents as a way to cut both plastic and freight.

Equa Care positions itself within clean-beauty and zero-waste conventions. The company states that only natural ingredients and natural essential oils go into its formulas, and that the products are free of synthetic fragrance [3]. It frames the range as "designed to nurture skin in a natural way while protecting the planet from harmful ingredients and waste" [4].

Products

The range covers personal care and home care. For the body, it includes a foaming hand soap described as refillable and long-lasting, and a body wash the company says is suited to all skin types. The Equa Care Body Duo, sold by Swedish retailers, packages a hand soap and a shower gel, each as a pump bottle plus a refill [5]. Home-care items, outside the scope of personal care, include a dish soap that the brand describes as "100% biodegradable" [2] and a cleaning spray.

The dispensers are made, according to the company, of "100% recycled PET material from the waste of single-use plastic bottles" and are designed to be reused [2]. A Swedish retailer listing states the bottles can be refilled at least thirty times, with each refill supplied as a powder bag mixed with water directly in the bottle [5].

Current status

Equa Care is active. Its online store, at equa-care.com, lists current collections, and the parent company EQUA continues to trade. Beyond direct sales, the line is stocked by several Nordic and international retailers, including outlets in Sweden and an eco-focused reseller in Kuwait.
