Overview
Farcom is a Greek cosmetics manufacturer based in the industrial area of New Redestos in Thessaloniki. Founded in 1970 as a family business [2], it makes everyday hair, face and body care for supermarkets and cosmetics shops, a separate range of professional salon products, and private-label goods made for other companies. Farcom is also the name of one of its own product lines, a mostly salon-style haircare range built around hair colour, developers and bleaching powder.
The Greek Exporters' Association describes the company as a Greek cosmetics manufacturer that works with major retail chains, hair salons and pharmaceutical firms around the world [9]. Exports have been part of the business since 1991, and in recent years Farcom has collected a string of Greek export and business awards. The company remains active, with regular news on trade fairs, training events and charity work through 2026.
Origin
Farcom describes itself as a family-driven business with a customer-focused approach. Its own timeline starts with the setting-up of the company in 1970, and it now speaks of "a history of more than 50 years". The founders are not named in the company's public materials. The current President and CEO is Themis (Themistoklis) Sarasidis.
Salons were part of the story from early on. In 1973, three years after its founding, the company began distributing a professional product range to hair salons, and on its professional-products page Farcom says it has stood by professional hairstylists "since its foundation". In 1976 it signed an agreement for large-scale retail distribution within Greece, which laid the ground for its later supermarket and shop business.
History & milestones
Much of Farcom's documented history is a story of steady physical growth. In 1986 the company bought a 7,000 m² property in Lakkia. Export activity began in 1991, and in 1999 the company changed its legal form to a société anonyme (S.A.), a form of limited company.
The 2000s brought a run of property purchases. In 2005 Farcom acquired a 14,000 m² site for its head offices and logistics centre. Two years later it added a further 10,000 m² in Lakkia and invested in an automated machine system. In 2008 it bought 17,000 m² of land in New Redestos, where its headquarters now sit. The company says it has run a formal quality assurance system since 2001, and it has since been certified to the ISO 22716 standard for good manufacturing practice in cosmetics and to ISO 9001:2015.
Work on a new 10,000 m² factory began in 2017. The second production unit was completed in 2021; according to the company, it cost 10 million euros and raised production capacity by 60% [2]. Farcom states that all of its production remains in Greece.
The company's international profile has grown alongside its exports. In 2026 it exhibited at the 57th Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, held in Italy from 26 to 29 March, and at the PLMA "World of Private Label" trade show in Amsterdam on 19–20 May, where it presented its private-label work. In July 2026 Themis Sarasidis was elected unanimously as President of SEVE, the Greek Exporters' Association, for the 2026–2028 term [7].
### Size and headquarters
Figures on the company's size differ slightly between sources. Farcom's own website gives a workforce of 190 people and says it exports to more than 50 countries, with exports making up more than 25% of turnover [2]. The SEVE member directory lists 200 employees and exports to 52 countries [9]. The two sets of numbers are close and may simply reflect different dates.
The same applies to the head office. The company gives its address as the Industrial Area of New Redestos, Thessaloniki, while the SEVE directory lists the same industrial area and postcode under the locality of Thermi.
Philosophy & positioning
Farcom frames its aim in practical terms. The company says its vision is to offer "innovative cosmetic products and high-standards services at competitive prices", drawing on its long experience and continuous investment in research and development. Its stated mission is to create "inspiring and refreshing products" of high quality and aesthetics. It lists four core values: quality consistency, being target-focused, a human-centred approach and social responsibility.
The business works across three channels. Consumer brands are sold in supermarkets and cosmetics shops in Greece and abroad. Professional brands are sold to hairdressers and barber shops. Private-label products are made for retail and salon chains. According to the company, it also sells directly to major retail chains, hair salons, department stores and pharmaceutical companies abroad.
Training is part of the professional offer. Farcom runs an in-house academy that offers technical seminars and artistic and vocational training to hairdressing students, clients and partners. The company also says it works with research centres in Europe and America, although it does not name them, and takes part in international trade fairs to follow market trends.
Products & innovation
Farcom operates as a house of brands rather than a single label. Its retail portfolio includes HD, Mea Natura, Echo, ARLEM, Activel, Fadiam, Farcom, 888, 555, Vital, BIOSAR and SECRET DE VIE. On the professional side it lists EXPERTIA, Seri, ARREN, BIOPROTEN and FARCOM PROFESSIONAL. The wider range also takes in perfumes and perfume oils, hand care and antiseptics.
The Farcom line itself leans towards the salon. It includes a hair colour cream sold in 60 ml tubes across 65 shades, oxycream developers in several strengths, Polyton Clear bleaching powder, cold perm solutions, styling gels, a Silvertone shampoo and a conditioner balsam sold in sizes up to 3.5 litres. The line also includes a rose water.
Several of the products the company highlights come from its other brands. HD Hair Color Refresh Masks were named Product of the Year in 2023, and ARREN's Stimulant Hair Lotion and Fortify Shampoo received the same title in 2025. An HD thermoprotective lotion, which protects hair from heat styling, took silver at the Prix de Beauté 2024.
On animal testing, Farcom states that it does not test its products on animals and does not commission third parties to carry out such tests [2]. This is the company's own statement; no independent cruelty-free scheme is cited alongside it.
Sustainability
Farcom describes its approach under the heading of sustainable growth. The company says it holds RSPO certification for the controlled use of palm oil in its products and ISCC certification covering sustainable production and the use of biomass [2]. It also reports that it works with FSC-certified packaging suppliers as a contribution to responsible forest management.
At its production sites, the company says it uses a biological treatment system for liquid waste and works with certified outside partners to handle solid waste. It also lists the use of environmentally friendly raw materials as part of its strategy.
Social causes feature regularly in its news. In 2025 and 2026 Farcom supported charity bazaars for the "MELISSA" girls' orphanage, the Down Syndrome Association of Greece and the organisation "The Smile of the Child". Its professional division backed a social hair salon run by the municipal welfare enterprise of Piraeus and was a gold sponsor of the Hair Awards by Estetica Hellas 2026.
Recognition
Most of Farcom's awards relate to exports and business performance. The company lists gold and silver awards at the Greek Exports Awards 2021, as well as an Export Leaders award the same year. At the Greek Exports Forum & Awards 2026, held on 8 May, it received three distinctions [8].
Farcom has also been named repeatedly among the "Diamonds of the Greek Economy", a business excellence award organised by Naftemporiki, with recognitions listed for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025 [2]. Other honours on its list include a silver Manufacturing Excellence Award in 2019, a Sales Excellence Award in 2020, the Salus & The Kind Hearts Awards 2020 for social responsibility, and three honorary awards at the Made in Greece Awards 2024. Its product awards are covered above.
Current status
Farcom is active. Its most recent news, dated 26 August 2026, reports that FARCOM PROFESSIONAL took part in a summer training retreat in Lithuania in late July [6]. Its news pages for 2026 also cover its trade-fair appearances, its awards and its CEO's election to lead SEVE.
