Overview
Floracell is a German hair-care line built around plant-themed shampoo concentrates, each matched to a specific scalp or hair concern. It is marketed by Runika Pharma-Kosmetik-Logistik, a company based in Viernheim, Germany [7], under the tagline "Haarpflege mit System" – hair care with a system [4]. The range is sold mainly through pharmacies, where each product is listed under its own pharmacy product number.
The line is modest in size: fifteen products, consisting of shampoos, leave-in treatments and conditioners that are meant to be used together over a course of weeks. Its formulas are themed around plants such as stinging nettle, burdock root, coneflower and white dead-nettle, alongside aloe vera, coconut, peach and vanilla. The brand remains on sale, although it shows few signs of new development.
Ownership
Floracell appears on the website of Runika Pharma-Kosmetik-Logistik Inh. Uwe Rutsch e.K. as part of the company's own product range. Retail listings name Runika as the provider and manufacturer of Floracell products, with Floracell given as the brand [8].
Runika describes itself as a family business, founded in 2005, that provides logistics services to pharmaceutical wholesalers and pharmacies, supported by field sales staff [2]. The company says it is open to taking on additional cosmetic products, cosmetic lines and food supplements – including partial ranges – and to handling their logistics and market supply for others. Whether Runika created Floracell itself or distributes it on behalf of another owner is not stated. The 2005 date belongs to Runika, not to the brand, and neither Floracell's launch year nor the people behind its formulas are documented.
Floracell sits beside several other lines in the Runika catalogue: the everfit range of food supplements, an aloe vera gel, a lemon-balm foam bath, DMSO preparations, a magnesium oil spray and a hemp extract made by a separate producer [1]. Of these, Floracell is the only hair-care brand.
Philosophy & positioning
The idea behind "hair care with a system" is that each shampoo targets one problem, and each problem has a matching follow-up product. Runika's range page assigns the products to dry hair and scalp, dandruff, damaged hair and natural hair loss, oily hair, sensitive or allergy-prone scalps, and children. Several shampoos are paired with a leave-in treatment (Haarkur, or Haarwasser in one case) or a rinse-out conditioner (Spülung) of the same name, and the company repeatedly recommends a course-style use of the two together.
The system also has an endpoint. For the nettle and burdock-root shampoos, which address dandruff and hair loss, the company recommends switching to the milder peach shampoo once the problem has eased. The range is thus built around a treatment phase followed by gentler maintenance care.
According to the company, all Floracell products are made in Germany [4]. They are offered in two packaging options, PET plastic and glass bottles, a choice the company highlights on its home page. Most products come in 30 ml and 200 ml bottles, and the children's shampoo is also available as 100 ml.
Distribution follows the logic of Runika's main business. The company tells customers that its products can be obtained in pharmacies using the product number, or through its own online shop [1]. No social media channels, press coverage or awards are documented for the brand.
Products & innovation
The core of the range is a set of shampoo concentrates, each named after a plant. Instructions are the same across most of them: a hazelnut- to walnut-sized amount, depending on hair length, is used for a first and a second wash and rinsed out with lukewarm water.
The Aloe Vera Shampoo Konzentrat is the one product the company describes as reformulated. Its label announces a new formula with an aloe vera share of 47.5 per cent [3]. Runika presents it for split ends, an itchy scalp and lack of moisture, and recommends it for protecting dry hair and scalp from drying out. A matching Aloe Vera Haarkur is massaged into the scalp, left under a warm towel for five minutes and not rinsed out.
The Brennessel (stinging nettle) shampoo is aimed at dandruff. The company says it loosens existing flakes, helps regulate the scalp's oil glands and strengthens the hair. Its companion leave-in treatment carries a warning that it should not be used on children under three.
The Klettenwurzel (burdock root) line – shampoo, leave-in treatment and conditioner – is positioned for damaged hair and natural hair loss, with a focus on stressed and sensitive scalps. The Kokos (coconut) shampoo is meant for dry hair and a scalp low in natural oils, which it is said to replenish gently while reducing dry flakes and itching.
The Pfirsich (peach) shampoo and conditioner are presented for hair stressed by the environment, permanent waves, colouring or bleaching, and for people with sensitive skin. Runika describes the conditioner as a concentrate with heat protection for blow-drying that also reduces static, or "flyaway", hair.
Several products address delicate scalps. The Sensitiv Shampoo is made without colourants, fragrance or preservatives, and the company says it can double as a shower balm for irritated skin. The Sonnenhut (echinacea, or coneflower) shampoo and hair tonic are intended for scalps prone to allergies and dry eczema. The Vanilla Kindershampoo, a children's shampoo, is described as not stinging the eyes and as suitable for cradle cap, the flaky scalp patches common in babies. At the other end, the Taubnessel (white dead-nettle) shampoo targets oily hair and scalp and also contains hops, lemon balm, chamomile, yarrow, mistletoe and fennel.
The ingredient-free claims vary from product to product rather than applying to the whole line. "Paraben-free" appears on most labels but not on the coneflower, vanilla or dead-nettle products. Only the aloe vera, burdock-root and coconut shampoos are labelled both vegan and sulfate-free [3], while several of the leave-in treatments and conditioners are marked silicone-free. No third-party certifications are documented for the range, and the company makes no claims about proprietary technology or clinical testing.
Current status
Floracell is active in the sense that it is still on sale. Fifteen products are listed with their pharmacy numbers on Runika's website, and as of October 2026 the coconut shampoo was shown as available from a German online pharmacy [8]. The range is distributed essentially within Germany through the pharmacy system.
There is little sign of ongoing development. The brand has no dedicated website of its own, its information lives on a few pages of the Runika site, and no recent launches or news are documented. The aloe vera shampoo's new formula is the only change the company highlights, and it is not dated.
