Summary

Overview

HydroVital is a German body-care brand made for nursing homes, hospitals and home-care services rather than for the beauty counter. It is a private label of the German wholesaler igefa, which sells cleaning, hygiene and care supplies to businesses, and it is offered to care providers as part of that wholesale range [8]. The brand covers everyday washing, hair care, moisturising and skin protection for people who depend on others for their personal care.

The brand is split into two lines. HydroVital Classic is an everyday range built around aloe vera, with a separate group of products containing 3 % urea for dry skin. HydroVital Premium is a richer shea-based range aimed at mature skin and at skin under strain from incontinence. Both lines remained on sale in 2025, when igefa published new brochures for each.

Ownership

HydroVital belongs to igefa. The 2025 brochures for both lines describe it as "an own brand of igefa Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG" and name that company as their publisher, with an address in the Blumberg district of Ahrensfelde [8]. The igefa website, by contrast, gives its legal notice in the name of the group parent, igefa SE & Co. KG, with its registered seat in Neumünster [7]. The two addresses belong to different legal entities within the same group. The brand's own printed material points to Ahrensfelde, while the group's corporate seat is in Neumünster.

The parent group describes itself as a trading, service and logistics partner for businesses. According to igefa, the present company was formed in 2022 through the merger of four long-established family firms, and it now employs about 3,000 people at 30 locations across Germany, with further sites in Poland, the Netherlands and Austria [2]. It is also a member of INPACS, an international network of wholesalers. The company says it carries around 300,000 articles in hygiene, cleaning, care, workwear and catering supplies, serving building-cleaning firms, healthcare, industry, local government and the hospitality trade. It traces its own history back to 1975. That date belongs to the wholesaler, not to HydroVital: no launch year for the brand has been published.

igefa groups its brands into three tiers: partner brands from outside manufacturers, exclusive brands sold only through igefa, and own brands, which the company says combine good quality with good value [5]. HydroVital Classic and HydroVital Premium sit in the own-brand tier alongside the cleaning range CLEAN and CLEVER, the cleaning-machine brand bluematic, the incontinence and care-aid brand Kolibri, and Vom Feinsten, a line of printed disposable packaging for food counters.

Philosophy and positioning

HydroVital is written for carers rather than for the people who use the products. Its pages address nursing staff and care managers, and its stated aim is the comfort of residents and patients. "Well-being starts with the skin," the Classic page says, adding that this is especially true in residential and outpatient care. The company frames the Classic line as a way for carers to give the people in their charge refreshing cleansing, gentle care and reliable skin protection.

The Premium line takes a broader view of ageing skin. igefa describes it as a system that balances four tasks, namely cleansing, care, protection and what it calls "vitalisation", and says the products are matched to the needs of mature skin and skin that is under particular stress, for example from incontinence. The company argues that the skin deserves special attention in old age and presents shea from the West African shea tree as the line's central natural ingredient.

Each line has its own tagline. Classic uses "Cleansing and care for every day", while Premium uses "Precious care for body and soul". The brand's language is warm, but its setting is practical. Products are listed with wholesale article numbers, carton sizes and German pharmacy central numbers (PZN) [3]. HydroVital has no website of its own and no social media channels. It appears as two pages within igefa's brand catalogue.

Products

### HydroVital Classic

The Classic line covers the basics of a care-home bathroom. Its aloe vera group includes a shower gel, a shampoo, a washing lotion for skin and hands, a foam bath with a sea-breeze scent and a two-in-one shower gel and shampoo. On the care side there is a body lotion, a hand cream and a richer skin-care cream for face and body. The line is rounded out by a shaving foam with aloe vera and vitamin E and by a fluoride toothpaste, which the company says protects against tooth decay and gum disease. In total the Classic range lists 13 products.

igefa leans on aloe vera as the common thread of this range, calling it one of the oldest medicinal plants in the world and saying its moisturising properties leave skin noticeably smoother.

A separate group within Classic is aimed at dry skin in older people. It consists of a shower gel, a shampoo and a body lotion, each containing 3 % urea [3]. Urea is a substance found naturally in the skin that helps it hold water. The company explains that urea products help with itching and very dry skin, and it says that long-term use leads to a lasting, visible moisture balance [3]. No study is cited for that claim.

### HydroVital Premium

The Premium range lists ten products and is organised around the same four tasks the company uses to describe it.

For cleansing there is a shampoo, a shower gel and a washing lotion, all with shea extract. The shampoo is meant for brittle, stressed hair and a dry scalp, and adds panthenol to help the hair recover. The shower gel and washing lotion also contain hydrolysed wheat protein, which the company says adds moisture and supports the skin's recovery. Two products are designed for washing without water: moist care wipes soaked in a mild lotion, and a cleansing foam. According to igefa, neither dries the skin out further, and both leave extra moisture behind. igefa says the foam is suited to frequent washing of the intimate area, particularly in cases of incontinence, and lists shea butter, aloe vera, panthenol and witch hazel among its ingredients.

For care there is a hand cream and a body lotion, both built on shea butter and panthenol. The company says shea butter keeps a protective film on the skin for longer than other plant fats, and that its shea extract offers "proven" benefits for dry, irritated or high-need skin and hair [4]. As with the urea claim, no study is named.

Protection is the most clinical part of the range. igefa notes that incontinence can lead to severe irritation and painful skin damage in the affected areas, and argues that very gentle products with an added barrier are the first choice there. The skin protection cream combines shea butter, panthenol and olive oil with bisabolol, which the company says soothes inflammation and strengthens the skin barrier. The wound protection cream contains 10 % zinc oxide, which igefa says forms a physical barrier on the skin and supports its regeneration [4].

The fourth task, "vitalisation", is covered by a single product: a cooling hydrogel intended for massage. The company says that, when gently massaged in, it stimulates circulation and helps relieve muscle tension.

The Premium brochure also presents igefa's Kolibri incontinence products as a companion to the range, describing Kolibri's breathable products as a natural complement to HydroVital Premium [9].

No third-party certifications, vegan or cruelty-free claims, or manufacturing locations are documented for either line. igefa says that more than a quarter of the articles in its overall range carry a sustainability label, and it publishes sustainability reports, but these statements concern the wholesaler as a whole and are not made for HydroVital products specifically.

Current status

HydroVital is active. Both lines are listed on igefa's website with full product tables, and new editions of the Classic and Premium brochures were issued in 2025 [8]. The brand's product listings and brochures are German-language, and its products carry German pharmacy numbers. igefa operates sites in Poland, the Netherlands and Austria, but there is no documented sign that HydroVital is sold outside Germany. The brand is distributed through igefa's business-to-business wholesale channel to care homes, hospitals and home-care services, not through consumer retail.
