Overview
Inkosmia is a German company based in Wetzlar, in the state of Hesse, that markets pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic products to pharmacies in Germany. It is less a beauty brand in the usual sense than a sales and brand-building partner for other manufacturers. The products it handles carry their makers' names, among them Dr. Schick tick removers and supplements, Braun thermometers and the Levelle face cream from Wohldorff. The company calls itself a "sales specialist for pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic products" [1].
Its own descriptions of its role are not fully consistent. The homepage presents Inkosmia as a manufacturer, while its about page, its services page and its registered business purpose all describe a distributor [2][8]. The company is active, with a maintained website and a current product portfolio, and its work is focused on the German pharmacy market.
Origin & founders
Inkosmia does not name its founders or tell a founding story on its own website. The legal notice identifies the operating business as inkosmia GmbH & Cie. KG, with its address at Hohe Straße 21 in Wetzlar and an entry in the commercial register at the local court in Wetzlar under HRA 6906 [6]. Dr. Tim Hellwig is named there as managing director. He is the person who represents the company, but no source describes him as its founder.
The company's registered business purpose is the distribution of cosmetic and related products [8]. That short legal description says more about what Inkosmia does than its marketing copy. In practice it operates as a service business for pharmacy products in general, and cosmetics make up only a small part of what it sells.
Ownership
Inkosmia is organised as a GmbH & Co. KG-type partnership. The structure combines a limited partnership with a limited company that acts as the partner with unlimited liability. In this case the general partner is inkosmia Verwaltungs GmbH, registered in Wetzlar under HRB 5576 and located at the same address as the operating company [6]. According to its registered purpose, that holding company acquires and manages stakes in other businesses. Above all, it serves as the managing general partner of the Inkosmia partnership [9].
This holding company is an administrative structure, not a parent group in the sense of a larger corporation that owns the brand. No outside owner, investor or acquisition is documented. A business directory classifies inkosmia Verwaltungs GmbH as a micro-enterprise.
Philosophy & positioning
Inkosmia describes itself as a bridge between pharmaceutical companies and German pharmacies. According to the company, it looks for products that have already succeeded in other countries and brings them into German pharmacies to fill gaps in their ranges. It presents this as a way to help pharmacies stay profitable over the long term. It also says it helps start-ups gain access to the German pharmaceutical market, advising them on positioning, branding and pricing.
The company states its vision as offering customers "innovative international news from the healthcare sector" and bringing products "that we ourselves stand behind" to market "in an unconventional way" [3]. Its guiding principle, it says, is "less is more". Inkosmia links this to the plain design of its own website and to a stated aim of offering simple, effective solutions in a complicated market.
The question of what kind of company Inkosmia is runs through its own materials. The homepage says that, as "one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality pharma products", it uses its know-how to place other firms' products in the German market [1]. Its other pages tell a different story. The about page and the services page describe sales, marketing and brand-building for third parties. The registered business purpose names distribution, not manufacturing. The products the company shows on its website carry the brand names of other firms. The manufacturer claim is therefore the company's own description; the documented activity is distribution and market access. A summary of the company's website in a German business directory repeats both roles side by side, describing it as a manufacturer and as a partner for other manufacturers [8].
Distribution
The services Inkosmia lists are aimed at manufacturers that want to sell through German pharmacies. They include sending samples and flyers, electronic direct marketing, branding and positioning, and a Germany-wide network of sales representatives. The company also offers help with pricing and arranges listing and first stock orders with pharmaceutical wholesalers, the wholesalers that supply pharmacies. It further advertises access to a network of contract manufacturers.
Physical storage and shipping are handled through a partner. The company names Dalheim Pharma Service GmbH, a logistics firm in central Hesse that specialises in distributing pharmaceutical goods, as its partner for fulfilment.
The company's website quotes two of its clients. Dr. Björn Lindemann, chief executive of Wohldorff GmbH, says his firm had worked with Inkosmia for four years. In his account, the partnership allowed Wohldorff to move from selling its products itself, directly to customers, into the networks of pharmaceutical wholesalers. Dr. Gerhard Schick, chief executive of Dr. Schick GmbH, says his company appointed Inkosmia as exclusive sales partner for all of its products [1]. Both statements are published by Inkosmia itself and are undated.
Products
Inkosmia's portfolio is mostly made up of medical devices and food supplements rather than cosmetics. The largest group comes from Dr. Schick. It includes several tick-removal tools, such as the Zeckenzange Ultra, as well as a nine-piece tick kit. The same firm supplies Carotinin, a food supplement based on an original recipe by the pharmacist Dr. Schick.
Other lines include Braun thermometers and a pulse oximeter, the Nymphia tick remover, MEDI 7 pill organisers and plasters made from bamboo fibres. There are also the Adaptogon and Zentogon Pro supplements and Aquatabs tablets. Floracit pastilles are lozenges sold for bad breath, dry mouth and bacterial imbalance in the mouth.
Only two items in the range sit clearly in beauty and personal care. Levelle Anti-AGEs is a face cream from Wohldorff, sold in a 30 ml glass jar with a bamboo lid; the product page calls it a liposomal cream and says it has been clinically tested. Bienenzell Wabensalbe is an ointment described as caring for muscles and joints and refreshing tired feet.
The German pharmaceutical reference Gelbe Liste lists 13 preparations under Inkosmia's name [10]. They include Aquatabs, Bienenzell Wabensalbe, two Carotinin products, Floracit pastilles, several tick-removal tools and two types of FFP2 face mask.
Ethics & sustainability
Inkosmia says it takes part in regional and national social projects as part of its corporate responsibility. Its stated focus is local: the company supports Round Table 86 Wetzlar, a service club whose motto is "for children in and around Wetzlar" [2]. The website also describes the Dr. Schick brand's sponsorship of the "Wetzlar gastronomy quartet". According to the company, proceeds go to projects and institutions such as grief counselling for children and young people. No third-party certifications or environmental commitments are documented.
Current status
Inkosmia is active. Its website carries a 2026 copyright notice and a current product portfolio, each item listed with its German pharmacy product number. The site does not publish dated news or product launches, so recent activity can be seen mainly through this maintained portfolio and its listings in pharmaceutical and company directories. The business remains focused on a single country, Germany, and on the pharmacy channel.
