Summary

Overview

KakkoBrows Cosmetics is a Finnish beauty company based in Helsinki that specializes exclusively in eyebrow products. It was founded by Annika Kakko, who also runs the Finnish brow salons KakkoBrows and BrowBar Helsinki. The line markets itself around a single category, with tints, lifting waxes, nourishing oils and lamination products for the brows, and the company describes its full range as vegan and cruelty-free.

The brand operates on a small, independent scale. KakkoBrows Cosmetics Oy reported revenue of about EUR 181,000 in 2024 with a single employee, and Annika Kakko has served as its chief executive since the company was registered [5]. The brand remains commercially active, selling directly to consumers and through several Nordic retailers.

Origin and founders

According to the company's account, the idea for KakkoBrows began while Annika Kakko was working at a beauty clinic in central Sydney, Australia, in 2016. Performing dozens of eyebrow treatments a day, she became familiar with shaping techniques that were not yet common in Finland. She returned to open the KakkoBrows salon in Helsinki in 2017, focused on brow shaping, microblading and permanent pigmentation [8], and later co-founded the BrowBar Helsinki salons. The cosmetics line grew out of this salon work.

There are two distinct founding dates depending on which entity is meant. The KakkoBrows salon dates to 2017 [8], while the separate product company, KakkoBrows Cosmetics Oy, was registered on 13 January 2021 [5]. The 2021 date applies specifically to the cosmetics business documented here.

Philosophy and positioning

KakkoBrows Cosmetics presents itself as a Nordic pioneer devoted entirely to eyebrows, and uses the Finnish tagline "Kosmetiikkaa kulmien ehdoilla," meaning roughly "cosmetics on brows' terms." The company says its journey started in Helsinki with a commitment to listen to customers and develop products that match their wishes, and it frames beautiful brows as a way of expressing individuality and confidence rather than only appearance. The Nordic retailer Lyko describes it more plainly as "the first Finnish brow brand" [7].

The positioning leans on ethical and local-production claims. KakkoBrows states that its entire range is vegan and animal-friendly, that the products are made in Finland, and that its packaging is designed for recycling, with plastic and cardboard separated.

Products and ingredients

The range is built around a handful of brow-focused items, including the All Day Brow Lifter, the All-In-One Brow Tint, the Overnight Brow Oil, a Brow & Lash Wash, and an at-home lamination product called Easy Brow Lami. The brand frames several of these as bringing professional results into home use; the All-In-One Brow Tint, for example, is described as a pump bottle that dispenses semi-permanent dye and developer in the correct ratio each time.

Care products draw on plant oils and conditioning ingredients. The Overnight Brow Oil lists castor seed oil, oat kernel oil, blueberry seed oil, sunflower seed oil and rosemary extract among its contents, and the wider line cites hyaluronic acid and xylitol. The company argues that brows need nourishment much as scalp hair does, suggesting that dry follicles shed brow hairs more easily than conditioned ones.

Distribution

KakkoBrows Cosmetics sells directly through its own online store and operates a wholesale channel for professional partners, who can register to order at trade prices. Beyond its own site, the products are carried by Nordic beauty retailers including Lyko, Cocopanda, Sokos, House of Organic, Beautiikki and Godies.

Recognition

Public press coverage is limited, in keeping with the brand's regional, indie scale. The Finnish health and wellbeing site Terve.fi featured founder Annika Kakko in an article about eyebrow growth.

Current status

KakkoBrows Cosmetics is active. Company-registry data records continued commercial operation, with EUR 181,000 in revenue for 2024, a single employee, and the founder still in place as chief executive [5]. Distribution across Finland and other Nordic markets remained ongoing as of that year.
