Overview
Knut Sweden is a Swedish body-care brand built around pine needle (Swedish tallbarr), a forest ingredient harvested in the northern region of Jämtland. It is part of Storknut [1], a Stockholm hospitality group whose best-known venture is the restaurant Restaurang Knut. The brand grew directly out of that restaurant: a pine needle soap first mixed in the kitchen for the dining room's washrooms, which guests then asked to take home.
The line stays small and single-minded, centred on the Norrland forest and its raw materials. Products are presented as "produced in the forests of Jämtland" and "refined in Knut's kitchen in Stockholm" [1], and the brand's stated aim is, in its own words, to "bring Norrland closer to you."

Origin
Knut Sweden traces back to Restaurang Knut, a Stockholm restaurant serving northern Swedish food. The restaurant says its name comes from the founder's grandfather Knut, who took him berry-picking, fishing and moose-watching in the Jämtland forests as a child [9]. According to the brand, the first pine needle soap was made in the restaurant's kitchen so guests could wash their hands in the bathrooms, and the response was strong enough to turn it into a retail product [1].
The exact year the cosmetics line launched is not documented in available sources. The parent restaurant's founding is itself recorded two ways: the restaurant's own about page dates Restaurang Knut to 2013 under founder Martin Sjölander [9], while a lifestyle profile in improveme.se frames the timeline around the opening of Knut Bar on Regeringsgatan in 2016 [13]. The 2013 date refers to the original Restaurang Knut on Upplandsgatan; the 2016 date refers to the later second location.
Products
The range is short. Its centrepiece is the Tallbarr Pine Needle Soap (500 ml), described by the company as a soap from the Jämtland forests made to cleanse and soften the skin [3]. It is joined by a Tallbarr Pine Needle Scrub (250 ml) and a hand-crafted Wooden Spoon (träsked) offered as a tool for the scrub [4][5]. The brand also lists a hard flatbread (tunnbröd), a carry-over from the restaurant side of the business.
Pine needle is the through-line. The company points to traditional family recipes from Norrland and to the needles' vitamin C content, which it says is higher in winter and increases further north [1]. On its product pages the brand goes further, stating that the vitamin C in pine needles fights free radicals, supports cell renewal and stimulates collagen production [3]. These are the company's own claims rather than independent findings.
Philosophy and positioning
Knut Sweden frames itself as a bridge between wilderness and city — "one foot in the wilderness and the other one in civilisation" [1] — using the restaurant's identity as the starting point for a small consumer range. The Swedish retailer Lyko, which carries the line, describes Norrland in the brand's listing as "a feeling rather than a place" [11]. The positioning leans on regional provenance and a forest scent rather than on clinical or certification claims; no certifications or formal sustainability commitments are stated in available sources.
Current status
The brand is active. As of mid-2026 its website, dedicated Shopify shop and social accounts are current, and the line is stocked by Lyko in Sweden and by Lykoshop.dk in Denmark [11][12]. One caveat is that all products were listed as out of stock in June 2026, which for a small indie line may reflect a slow restocking cadence rather than a wind-down. Distribution is centred on Sweden, with secondary reach into Denmark.
