Summary

Overview

Linteo is a Czech brand of personal-hygiene and cosmetic products, based in Lanškroun and owned by the trading company Melitrade a.s. Its range covers cotton products, wet wipes, paper tissues and toilet paper, alongside a dedicated baby line and a children's line. The company positions Linteo as an affordable, family-oriented brand made in the Czech Republic, summed up in its tagline "Quality Czech products. A brand you can trust. Products for the all family."

The brand dates its existence to 1996 [3], though some third-party sources record 1998 as the year the Linteo name was registered [2] — a difference that may reflect the gap between launch and formal trademark registration. The brand is active: although the news section of its website has not been updated since late 2020, Melitrade continues to publish a corporate magazine, with issues appearing through 2025 [11].

Origin and history

According to the Czech-language version of the company's About page, Linteo has been "a significant Czech supplier" for some three decades, describing itself as a Czech brand operating since 1996 [3]. The English version of the same page frames the brand more loosely, saying its products "have been an integral part" of family life "for almost 25 years." The brand's own materials present it as a traditional, purely Czech name built on quality and trust.

The current legal owner, Melitrade a.s., is a joint-stock company registered on 1 January 2007 [13], meaning the Linteo brand pre-dates the corporate entity that now holds it; the company structure that ran the brand before 2007 is not publicly documented. Melitrade describes itself as one of the major suppliers on the European market, particularly in wet wipes and boxed paper tissues.

The product portfolio was organised into distinct lines over time. Company materials record a 2006 split into the Linteo Classic, Linteo Satin and Linteo Elite ranges, the creation of the Linteo Baby series around 2007 to 2008, and the introduction of a Linteo Kids line in 2009. The brand today markets a tiered structure spanning Linteo, Linteo Classic, Linteo Premium, Linteo Baby and Linteo Kids.

Ownership

Linteo is owned by Melitrade a.s., a Czech trading and distribution company headquartered in Lanškroun [13]. Through Melitrade, the brand sits alongside two sister names, Onclé and Niteola [2]. Beyond consumer retail, Melitrade also supplies retail chains that sell hygiene products under their own private labels, and it serves the away-from-home and institutional segments.

Philosophy and positioning

Linteo is presented as a traditional Czech hygiene and cosmetics brand built around affordable everyday quality for the whole family. The company states that it works "constantly" to ensure its products "bring the best in terms of personal hygiene to make everyday life easier" for customers, and describes itself as a brand that "respects its employees and partners." Across its product pages the positioning is consistent: high quality at a reasonable price, with formulas described as gentle and suitable for children and all skin types.

The pricing sits in the drugstore tier. The Linteo Premium line is described by the company as designed for "cosmetic and, naturally, hygiene purposes" and aimed at "the demanding customer who requires premium quality," while still being offered at what the brand calls very affordable prices. The company notes that the quality of its core and Premium ranges is high enough for use in pharmacies and medical facilities.

Products and innovation

The brand's catalogue centres on cotton products and wet wipes. Cosmetic cotton pads and cotton buds anchor the makeup-removal and skincare-application range, with a Premium variant featuring argan oil and a line of cotton pads described as 100% cotton, biodegradable and intended for single use. Wet wipes span makeup removal, intimate hygiene and household cleaning, and the company also markets a wet toilet paper containing oak bark that it describes as easily flushable.

The Linteo Baby line targets the sensitive skin of infants and is built around organic marigold (calendula) as its featured ingredient; it includes wet wipes, cotton buds and changing mats. Other products in the wider range draw on extracts such as aloe vera, chamomile and oak bark. The company says the quality of all Linteo Baby products is "verified and confirmed by the state health institute" — Czech materials identify this as the National Institute of Public Health — and describes the baby products as dermatologically tested and posing "no health risk whatsoever" [6]. A third-party retailer listing for the brand's intimate-hygiene wipes similarly describes them as dermatologically tested and non-irritating.

Manufacturing is tied to a paper mill in Poland: Melitrade is a shareholder of Głuchołaskie Zakłady Papiernicze, the Głuchołazy paper mill, and states that it participates directly in the purchase of production machinery and in quality control of the production process [10]. The registered brand address remains in Lanškroun, Czech Republic.

Sustainability

Sustainability claims are made at the Melitrade level rather than for Linteo specifically. The company holds ISO 9001 certification for quality management and is FSC-certified for responsible forest management [12]. It has committed to reducing its carbon footprint, citing newly built warehouses insulated and fitted with solar panels, lower-energy IT equipment, and modern HVAC systems with energy-saving controls. Melitrade also states that it is preparing for compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (2023/1115) and is a founding member of PWF EPR a.s., an entity addressing litter and waste-management obligations [12].

Current status

The brand is active and operating multi-regionally across Central and Eastern Europe and into the Nordic market. The most prominent dormancy signal is its website news section, whose last entry — announcing a website redesign — dates to December 2020. Against that, more recent activity is documented: corporate magazine issues from 2024 and 2025 are downloadable from the company's press materials, and its sustainability page references a 2023 EU regulation [11]. The brand maintains active Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels.
