Overview
Manasi 7 is a Swedish makeup and skincare brand founded in Stockholm in 2018 by Susanne Manasi Persson, a professional makeup artist [8]. The collection is designed and developed in Sweden and produced in small batches in Italy [3]. It is built around multifunctional products made with natural, wild-harvested and certified-organic ingredients, and positions itself under the tagline "Beyond clean."
The brand markets makeup and skincare that are meant to work with the skin's microbiome rather than strip it, and it sells through a wholesale stockist network spanning roughly thirty countries as well as the online retailers SSENSE and FWRD [2]. Vogue Scandinavia has written that the line "quickly earned the brand a cult following" [7].
Origin & founders
Manasi 7 was created by Susanne Manasi Persson, a Stockholm-based makeup artist who, by the brand's account, had more than twenty years of experience behind the chair and over six years as a cosmetic product developer before launching the label. By her own telling, she began studying makeup in the mid-1990s, signed with an agency, and worked full-time on fashion shows, editorials, music videos and commercials before turning to product development. "Manasi" is her middle name, and the brand carries it as its eponym.
The starting point was not cosmetics but food. Persson traces her interest in ingredients to around 2010, when she read a book about additives in the food industry. She has described it as "an eye-opener for everything" [8], prompting her to scrutinise the ingredient lists on conventional makeup and to question the synthetic chemicals they often contained. That line of thinking grew into a broader philosophy about gut health and the idea that microbiomes live both inside the body and on the skin — the foundation she eventually built the brand on. The company launched in 2018 with about thirty products [8].
Philosophy & positioning
Manasi 7 describes itself as a "conscious collection of essential multifunctional products" designed to be used on their own or mixed together, guided by a "less is more" ethos. The aim, according to the company, is to bridge the high performance and colour pay-off of conventional makeup with the nourishing properties of natural, wild-harvested and certified-organic ingredients, so the two "can work together to complement each other."
A recurring theme is the skin's microbiome. The brand argues that a flourishing population of microorganisms is central to a healthy skin barrier, and frames its formulas as working with the skin's "good bacteria" rather than against them. Its stated mission is to offer "the most sustainable way possible of using beauty items by creating timeless and multifunctional products."
This positioning is codified in a seven-part manifesto the brand calls the "Declaration of (7)," which names its values as slow, select, pure, natural, simple, symbiotic and contemporary. Editorially, Manasi 7 is placed in the premium, clean and slow-beauty space: The Nod Mag called it "one of the most elegant 'clean' makeup brands on the market," making "makeup for the diligent label readers" [8], and Scandinavian Mind described it as "making a big mark in the premium makeup industry" [10].
Products & innovation
The range covers both makeup and skincare. On the makeup side, signature items include the Tinted Beauty Potion — a multi-use tinted oil for lips, cheeks and eyes — along with the All Over Colour blush, the Skin Enhancer, the Bronzelighter and a Precision Mascara made with organic plant waxes and activated charcoal. The skincare side spans botanical face and body oils, creams, a cleanser and serums, sold individually or in bundles.
Many formulas are described as fermented, waterless and highly concentrated, drawing on ingredients such as fermented camellia seed oil, marula seed oil, shea butter and lactobacillus ferment lysate. The brand's named skincare concept is Microbioskin, a microbiome-friendly line that it has been expanding; Vogue Scandinavia covered its launch through the Armonia face oil and Chanua serum, describing how the brand takes "discarded ingredients from organic food and beverage waste" and transforms them through bio-fermentation into active ingredients said to support the skin's ceramide production [7].
The company maintains a "free from" list naming dozens of excluded ingredients — among them parabens, mineral oil, silicones, synthetic fragrance blends and gluten — and states that it does not test on animals [4]. It says its raw materials are certified organic and that it works with Ecocert-certified material [4].
Sustainability
Sustainability is presented as central rather than incidental. Manasi 7 says it produces in small batches at a deliberately slow pace to limit water use and waste, works with independent small-scale subcontractors, and supports small organic farms. It also frames its multifunctional, highly concentrated products as a way to reduce consumption, encouraging customers to mix existing products rather than accumulate more. The upcycling of organic food and beverage waste into fermented active ingredients is described by the brand as part of the same effort to minimise waste across a product's life cycle.
Recognition
In 2023 the All Over Colour blush (shade Damaskino) was voted best blush in Cosmopolitan's clean beauty awards [1]. According to The Nod Mag, the brand also won a Creative Execution award at the Business of Beauty Global Awards, and the same publication reported that filmmaker Sofia Coppola uses its products [8]. Beyond awards, Manasi 7 has drawn coverage from Vogue Scandinavia and Scandinavian Mind, both of which have profiled its fermented skincare and "beyond clean" positioning.
Current status
Manasi 7 remains an active, independently owned Swedish brand. Its site carried a 2026 copyright at the time of review, and the company has continued to expand its Microbioskin skincare line, release limited editions, and maintain a multi-region stockist network alongside collaborations with SSENSE and FWRD [1]. No parent company or acquisition is recorded; the label operates as a standalone Stockholm-based business.
