Medesign

Medesign is a German manufacturer of medical devices and specialty body-care products, based in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Dietramszell, south of Munich. Its certified core business is the development, manufacture and sale of pessaries, which are silicone supports used to treat urogynaecological conditions, together with medical lubricating gels for use during examinations [2]. Alongside this medical work, the company sells a body-care and wellness range of plant oils, scar-care products and intimate-care items under its own name.

The company presents itself with the line "Medizinische und kosmetische Spezialprodukte" (medical and cosmetic specialty products), sold "direkt vom Hersteller", directly from the manufacturer [1]. Medesign remains active: it runs a current webshop, holds a quality-management certificate issued in 2026 and was advertising open positions in its production and office teams in 2026.

The business trades as medesign I.C. GmbH. The initials stand for "Ingenieur-Consulting", and the legal notice on the company's website names the operating entity as medesign Ingenieur-Consulting GmbH, registered with the Munich district court under HRB 91285 [3]. The same notice names Dipl. Ing. Lothar Engel as managing director. No parent group or outside owner is named, and the company's origins and founders are not described in its own publications.

The registered seat is Dietramszeller Straße 6 in Dietramszell, in the Linden district. The European business directory Europages gives a broader picture, describing the company as based in Munich, Nuremberg and Dietramszell [12]. The company's own legal notice and its quality certificate refer only to the Dietramszell-Linden site, and this article follows the company's registered address.

According to the legal notice, medesign, Femcon Plus and Rape-Protec are registered trademarks of the company. Its website also links to three related web presences: Femcon (myfemcon.de), Pessartherapie (pessartherapie.de) and Butterformen (butter-form.com), the last devoted to butter moulds.

Directory profiles describe a small firm. The Bavarian state business database Key to Bavaria lists 23 employees at the site and annual turnover below 5 million euros [11], while Europages places the workforce in the 20-49 range [12].

Medesign publishes no mission statement, founding story or brand philosophy, and its news blog contains no posts. What the company does communicate is its breadth. Its webshop is organised into five product areas: gynaecology and pessaries, medical supplies and therapy, pregnancy and breastfeeding, body care and wellness, and food. The food section, which includes teas, spices, sweets and butter moulds, sits somewhat apart from the rest of the range.

In its own words on Key to Bavaria, the company says it manufactures "medical and gynaecological products, pessaries, medical lubricant", along with impotence-treatment products, natural cosmetics, hair-removal products, ear candles, scar oil and organic food [11]. Its Europages profile lists a similar spread, naming medical-technical and gynaecological products, pessaries, natural cosmetics and hair removal, ear candles, scar care and foods as its main areas.

The company sells to several audiences at once. Its webshop sells straight to consumers, offers a separate registration for resellers who want special terms, and, according to Key to Bavaria, targets doctors, midwives, hospitals and physiotherapists [11]. The same profile lists sales markets in German-speaking Europe, several Gulf states, Iran, Lebanon and South Korea.

Pessaries are the company's best-documented product line. Medesign's quality certificate covers the development, manufacture and sale of these devices and of medical lubricating gels, and names Dietramszell-Linden as the certified site [2]. The company runs a dedicated information site on pessary therapy, which also points visitors to two of its care products: Ladysoft, a lubricating gel, and Femsoft, an intimate-care line [10].

The beauty-relevant side of the business sits in the body care and wellness section of the shop. It covers bath care, fragrance, intimate care, general body care, massage and sauna, meditation, scar care, and heat and cold packs. The general body-care collection lists 38 items, each shown under the medesign I.C. GmbH name. Most are single-ingredient or simple plant oils: almond oil, jojoba oil, a rosemary skin oil and a wild rose oil, along with hair, beard and nail oils. The collection also includes ghassoul, a mineral clay, and a body shaver. The company does not state whether these oils are made in-house or sourced from other producers and packed under its own label.

Scar care is the other named cosmetic focus, and one that ties back to the company's medical profile. Key to Bavaria lists "scar care" among the company's core competencies next to medical products for gynaecology. The scar-care collection contains Scar Öl, a 30 ml oil intended for scar massage, and scarmed Gel, a 30 ml silicone gel for scar care [9]. The company makes no published clinical claims for either product.

### Certification

Medesign holds a DIN EN ISO 13485 certificate, the international quality-management standard for medical-device makers. The current certificate, registration number D1016100021, was issued in Stuttgart on 6 May 2026 by mdc medical device certification GmbH and runs from 6 August 2026 to 5 August 2029 [2]. Its scope is limited to pessaries and medical lubricating gels. It is not a cosmetics, organic, vegan or cruelty-free certification, and no certification of that kind is documented for the body-care range.

Medesign is an active company. Its webshop carries a 2026 copyright notice, and its country selector covers the member states of the European Union and Switzerland. In 2026 the company's jobs page advertised a full-time position in production and warehousing, an office-management apprenticeship starting in September 2026 and an order-processing role [4]. The newly issued ISO 13485 certificate, which became valid in August 2026, is the most recent dated milestone. The company maintains accounts on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn but publishes no company news on its own website.
