Summary

Overview

Mixsoon is a South Korean skincare brand founded in July 2020 by Jooup Hwang, a cosmetics-industry veteran with more than a decade of experience [8]. Based in Seoul, it builds each product around a single hero ingredient in a concentrated, minimalist formula, and is best known for its fermented-soybean Bean Essence, which spread widely on TikTok and skincare forums. The brand is owned by Parket Inc., a company Hwang had established in 2015 as a distributor of other K-beauty labels before launching his own line [6].

The brand remains active and, by 2026, was running at high momentum: it secured two Vogue.com placements in a single week in February 2026, signed its first celebrity ambassadorship in 2024, and distributes across Asia, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East [10].

Origin and founders

According to interviews with founder Jooup Hwang, his route to Mixsoon ran through years in distribution. He set up Parket Inc. in 2015, and the company initially worked mainly as a distributor sending other Korean beauty brands to markets worldwide [6]. Throughout that period Hwang continued testing cosmetic ingredients and trial-launching products, working toward formulas that paired good actives with a deliberately concentrated, stripped-back ingredient list.

He has framed the eventual launch as a response to a gap he saw in the market: brands building products around a marquee ingredient such as Centella asiatica while padding the formula with fillers. Mixsoon was introduced in July 2020 as the alternative — a line organised around single, well-sourced hero ingredients [8]. The name joins the English "mix" with the Korean word soon (純), meaning "pure," which the company reads as "mixing pure ingredients."

Ownership

Mixsoon is owned by Parket Inc., the Seoul-based company Hwang founded in 2015 [6]. Parket predates the brand by five years and began as a worldwide distributor of K-beauty products before Mixsoon became its own consumer label. No outside acquisition or change of ownership is recorded in the available sources.

Philosophy and positioning

Mixsoon positions itself as minimalist, ingredient-led "clean" skincare. The company says it eliminates ingredients it considers unnecessary for the skin so it can concentrate on core actives, and it draws an analogy to coffee — arguing that, as with beans and brewing method, the source and extraction of an ingredient determine the result. In its own materials the brand also describes itself as formulated without greenwashing or fear-based marketing.

That positioning extends to what the products leave out. Mixsoon states that its formulas avoid artificial fragrance and dyes, and that its products are free from animal testing and animal-derived ingredients; several carry vegan-friendly labelling, though the sources do not name a specific certifying body. The brand's stated core values are minimalism, clean beauty, an ingredient-first approach, sustainability and authenticity.

Products and innovation

The line is built around single hero ingredients grouped by skin benefit — fermented soybean (marketed as "Bean"), PDRN, Bifida ferment and noni for barrier support; Centella asiatica, heartleaf and mung bean for soothing; and galactomyces, daisy and panax ginseng for brightening, among others. The breakout product is the Bean Essence, a single-ingredient fermented-soybean essence that the brand says reached "#1 Essence" status at the major Korean retailer Olive Young during its pre-launch [9]. Other recurring products include a Centella Asiatica cleansing foam, a Bifida ferment essence, a Centella sun cream and a Melting Collagen Neck & Forehead Film.

Two production methods anchor the brand's "ingredient-focused" claim. Mixsoon describes a 72-hour megasonic, low-temperature extraction carried out below 50°C, which it says preserves the active ingredients that high-temperature processing can degrade, and a separate 72-hour fermentation step used for some essences to aid absorption [2]. The company also says it cultivates Centella asiatica and heartleaf in-house — growing the Centella pesticide-free on Jeju Island and harvesting and extracting it on site for quality control.

Sustainability

Environmental claims feature prominently in the brand's communications. Mixsoon says 90% of the glass bottles used for its essence line are made from recycled glass, and that it uses soy ink and FSC-certified paper boxes for packaging [5]. It runs an environmental mascot, "Soondy," and states that part of the proceeds from products carrying the Soondy logo goes to the group "Friends on Earth, Environmental Movement Alliance." The brand has also said it sponsors initiatives for autistic artists, and in 2021 it received an Arts Sponsorship Award in the frontier category from a Korean culture and arts committee [6].

Recognition and press

Mixsoon drew sustained editorial and social attention from 2024 onward. In February 2026 it earned two Vogue.com placements within days of each other: the Bean Essence was named "Best Overall" face essence and the Melting Collagen Neck & Forehead Film was named "Best for Expression Lines" [10]. The brand has also been profiled in long-form features by outlets including Skinsider UK, Style Story Australia and YesStyle.

A large part of the brand's visibility came through social media. Trade and editorial write-ups describe how the Bean Essence turned Mixsoon from a quiet indie label into a widely discussed name across TikTok, Reddit and skincare forums focused on ingredient simplicity [11]. The product was frequently positioned as a lower-key alternative to established fermented essences. Mixsoon's profile was further raised when creator Mikayla Nogueira posted a TikTok pairing herself with Cardi B as Bean Essence users [13]. In 2024 the brand signed its first ambassadorship, with the Korean group ENHYPEN [7].

Distribution

Mixsoon sells through a wide network of official retail partners rather than relying only on its own stores. Its stated stockists span global e-commerce platforms such as YesStyle, StyleVana, StyleKorean and Jolse, alongside bricks-and-mortar and chain retail in many markets — among them Ulta Beauty, Walmart and Costco in the United States; Boots, Superdrug and Sephora UK in the United Kingdom and Europe; and pharmacy and beauty chains across Australia, Canada, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The brand also operates direct-to-consumer sites for individual regions, including the United States and Germany.

Current status

Mixsoon is an active brand with a global footprint. Its most recent documented activity is the February 2026 Vogue.com feature, and reporting from 2025 pointed to continued expansion, including planned Ulta launches in the United States and Mexico and growth in European retail [7].
