Summary

Overview

Neccin is a Swedish scalp-care and haircare line built around shampoos, conditioners and treatments for dandruff, dryness, irritation and sensitive scalps. The series was developed in the Gothenburg laboratory of Grazette of Sweden, a manufacturer of professional salon products, and the two remain closely tied: Neccin is sold as a sub-brand within the wider Grazette range. The brand's central idea is straightforward, summed up in its own tagline — that "strong and healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp."

The line is active. It is sold today through a direct-to-consumer storefront at neccin.com alongside broad Swedish professional and retail distribution, and remains primarily a Swedish-market brand.

Thinner sourcing. The article relies largely on the brand's own statements (T2–T3). Glowpedia is seeking independent sources.

Origin and development

Neccin originates inside Grazette of Sweden, a company founded in 1974 by Hans Algeskog and headquartered, with its own factory, in Gothenburg [6][9]. Grazette describes itself as a Swedish business with in-house research, development and manufacturing of professional haircare, selling chiefly to salons. The Neccin recipes, according to Grazette, were created in that Gothenburg laboratory.

The exact year the Neccin series itself launched is not documented in available sources; 1974 is the founding year of the parent company Grazette of Sweden, not necessarily of the Neccin line. Salon-trade copy frames the brand's beginnings through a recounted "night in the lab" — a development story the trade still refers to — rather than a precise founding date.

Ownership

Two corporate entities appear in connection with Neccin, and the sources do not fully reconcile them.

The Neccin series as a product brand belongs to Grazette of Sweden AB. In August 2021, Lyko Group AB (publ) agreed to acquire a 90.05% majority stake in Grazette for SEK 10.3 million upfront, in a deal that could rise through earn-outs tied to earnings over the following years [9][10]. The seller was Grazette's founder, Hans Algeskog, who was reported to continue as the company's chief executive [9]. At the time of the acquisition Grazette had roughly 50 employees, its own Gothenburg factory, and 2020 sales of about SEK 66.6 million [9].

Separately, the neccin.com consumer storefront names Valley Beauty Brands AB of Stockholm as the operating entity behind the site [1]. The relationship between Valley Beauty Brands AB and the Grazette/Lyko ownership of the Neccin brand is not described in available sources.

Products and positioning

Neccin is organised as a numbered system, with individual products labelled No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4, each aimed at a different scalp condition. Signature items include the No.1 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, the No.2 Extra Mild Shampoo, the No.3 Dandruff Protector Conditioner and the No.4 Sensitive Balance Shampoo. The range extends across dandruff treatment, sensitive and irritated scalp, treated hair, fragrance-free options, body care and styling.

According to Grazette, the formulas pair a surfactant blend with the active ingredient piroctone olamine — a common anti-dandruff agent — and the company credits this combination with the series' success [6]. Retailer copy reproducing the brand's material describes the products as combining mild surfactants with strengthening plant proteins, and as "tough on problems but extremely mild on the hair strand." Conditioner No.3 contains silk protein, which is why the company states the line is not fully vegan.

The brand positions itself toward gentle, scientifically backed formulation. Neccin says its products are silicone- and sulfate-free, and offers fragrance-free options for scent sensitivity; retailer material also describes the line as paraben-free [8]. All products are made in Gothenburg, Sweden, according to the company. In the salon trade, the line has been promoted as professional, salon-sold scalp care available without prescription.

Current status

Neccin is an active brand. Its direct storefront at neccin.com is live, and the line carries broad current distribution across Swedish professional and retail channels. Its scope is essentially single-country, centred on the Swedish market. The brand sits within Grazette of Sweden, which has been majority-owned by Lyko Group since 2021 [9].
