Summary

Overview

NINELESS is a South Korean skincare brand built around single-active serums and a "free-from" formulating philosophy. It is operated by JCN COMPANY Co., Ltd., a company registered in Suwon, in the Gyeonggi Province south of Seoul [1]. The brand sells directly through its own online store and through K-beauty retailers such as YesStyle and StyleKorean, and it reached a wider audience during the 2020s wave of Korean skincare on TikTok.

The name encodes the brand's central idea. As NINELESS puts it on one retail listing, the products "contain at least 9 less bad things and 9 more good things" [3] — a formula the company frames as "Add 9, Deduct 9, Achieve Balance Divine," adding nine beneficial actives while leaving out nine ingredients it considers commonly irritating.

Origin and ownership

Public records for NINELESS are thin. The brand's own "Our Story" page presents its history through images rather than text, and no founder, founding year or founding narrative appears there, in retailer profiles, or in editorial coverage. The earliest dated trace of the brand is a July 2025 introductory post on its own blog; YesStyle had already published a brand feature in November 2024 [4], so the company predates both.

The business behind the label is JCN COMPANY Co., Ltd., listed as the operating company on the brand's contact page alongside a Suwon address and a company email. No acquisition history or sister brands are documented.

Philosophy and positioning

NINELESS positions itself as a science-led, results-focused skincare line rather than a "natural" or botanical one. On StyleKorean the brand states plainly that it "is not marketed as a natural cosmetics brand," describing its goal instead as "an honest formula for healthy scalp and hair with simple use" [3]. YesStyle's listing summarises the same stance, saying the brand "believes in the power of science and innovation" and makes "high-performing cleansers, toners, serums and more."

The "Deduct 9" half of the philosophy refers to a fixed exclusion list. According to YesStyle's brand feature, each product leaves out silicone, sulfate, paraben, synthetic fragrance, phthalate, phenoxyethanol, synthetic color, mineral oil and benzophenone [4]. The company also describes most ingredients as vegan-certified, while noting it includes "a minimum amount of chemical ingredients in some products" to keep them effective. The brand's marketed origin is explicit: NINELESS states that all of its products are made in Korea [6].

Products and innovation

The range centres on serums named by their active ingredient and concentration, grouped into product lines such as A-Control (azelaic acid), B-Boost (niacinamide and kojic acid), Mela-Pro (tranexamic acid), Molecule-Clear (exfoliating acids), Hydra-Max (hydration) and Essentials (sun care), plus a scalp-care line marketed under the name Root-Biome. Recurring hero ingredients across the catalogue include azelaic acid, niacinamide, kojic acid, tranexamic acid, snail mucin, centella asiatica and caffeine.

Sources differ on how many lines the brand offers. NINELESS's own store lists eight (A-Control, B-Boost, Mela-Pro, Molecule-Clear, Hydra-Max, Ever-Youth, Essentials and Root-Biome) [7]; YesStyle's November 2024 feature describes five (A-Control, B-Boost, Mela-Pro, Hydra-Max and Essentials) [4]. The store is the current reference, and the difference reflects lines launched after the YesStyle article was written.

The brand's signature item is the A-Control 10% Azelaic Acid Serum. NINELESS describes it as "the original 10% Azelaic Acid Serum that took over social media" and "a cult-favorite Korean formula" [8], and the serum gained visibility through ingredient-review videos and a dedicated hashtag, #ninelessserum, within the K-beauty community on TikTok [9]. For the same serum the company lists benefits including reduced redness, a more even tone and help with post-acne marks.

Current status

NINELESS is active. Its most recent dated content is a recycling-information post published on its blog in May 2026 [5], and its products remained stocked through third-party K-beauty retailers. At the time the brand's catalogue was reviewed in 2026, however, all twenty products on its own direct store were marked "sold out" — consistent with an inventory pause rather than a closure, given the continued retailer availability [7].
