Overview
Novaclear is a Polish dermocosmetic brand owned by Equalan Pharma Europe, a cosmetics manufacturer based in Białystok in north-eastern Poland. It sells skincare, body care and, more recently, haircare organised around specific skin concerns — atopic and sensitive skin, acne, hyperpigmentation, redness and the early signs of ageing — rather than around conventional product types. The company describes its range as built on "tested and safe formulas" and positions Novaclear as a pharmacy-tier, dermatologically tested line [2].
The brand is part of a broader stable held by Equalan Pharma, which also produces GlySkinCare, Dermastic, Mama's, Regital and the Vitter supplements line. Novaclear is the company's flagship dermocosmetic brand and, according to Equalan, is distributed in more than 40 countries [6].
Origins and ownership
Novaclear traces back to Equalan Pharma Europe, founded in 2009 in Białystok and described by the company as a fast-growing Polish cosmetics producer [6]. The Novaclear line itself was introduced the following year: the parent company's official timeline records "2010: Introduced Novaclear cosmetics line" [10], the year after Equalan launched its first brand, GlySkinCare. Some brand-side material dates the operation to 2009, which reflects the parent company's founding rather than the Novaclear line's launch [6]; the 2010 date is the one Equalan attaches specifically to Novaclear.
Equalan Pharma is registered as Equalan Pharma Europe Sp. z o.o., with its office at ul. Gen. W. Andersa 38 A in Białystok. The founders are not disclosed publicly on either the brand or the parent-company sites.
Development and milestones
The company expanded its manufacturing through the 2010s. It adopted the ISO 22716 Good Manufacturing Practice standard for cosmetics in 2016 and opened its own factory in Białystok in 2017, with production beginning that July [10]. In 2020 Equalan added hand and surface disinfection products, marketed under Novaclear as HandsClear, and the Atopis line joined the Polish Society of Atopic Diseases (PTCA) [10] — four Atopis products carry the society's recommendation.
More recent additions include a haircare range, marked as new on the brand's current site and aimed at weak and thinning hair, extending Novaclear beyond its original face-and-body focus. Equalan Pharma marked its 15th anniversary in 2024.
Products and positioning
Novaclear is organised into roughly fifteen named lines, each tied to a particular concern: Atopis for dry and atopic skin, Hydro for dehydrated skin, Acne for oily and blemish-prone skin, Collagen and Retinol for ageing, Whiten and Gluta for hyperpigmentation and uneven tone, Redless for redness, and Urban Sunblock for sun and pollution protection, among others. The third-party ingredients directory INCIDecoder lists 22 Novaclear products [12].
The brand frames this structure as an "individual approach" to specific skin needs and sums up its outlook as "clear message, clear design, clear ingredients." Its formulas draw on familiar dermocosmetic actives — hyaluronic acid, retinol, niacinamide, vitamin C, alpha arbutin and salicylic acid among them [11] — alongside two formulations Equalan says were developed in-house: a "3R complex" used in the Redless line and an ingredient it calls nanovetore in the Acne line [4]. The company states that its products are dermatologically tested and made to GMP standards, with formulas safe "from day 1 of life."
In a 2024 review, the UK beauty retailer BeandBeauty characterised Novaclear as a targeted, hypoallergenic dermocosmetic brand whose actives are clinically tested, aimed at consumers looking for solutions to specific skin conditions [11].
Recognition
Individual Novaclear lines have received several Polish and international cosmetics-industry awards [3]. The Atopis line won a Love Cosmetics Award in 2019, followed by the Hydro line in 2021 and the Advanced line in 2022. The Hydro and Collagen lines were named in the Pearl of the Cosmetics Market awards in 2020 and 2021 respectively, and the Whiten line took a Qlt Cosmetic award in 2019. The Urban Sunblock line was recognised in the Cosmo Trends selection at Cosmoprof Bologna.
Current status
Novaclear is an active brand. Equalan Pharma continued to launch products into the 2020s, including the recent haircare line, and reports distribution across more than 40 countries, with availability in the Nordic market among others. The parent company reached its 15th year in 2024.
