Overview
Organics by Sara is a Swedish organic skincare brand founded in October 2010 by Sara Nomberg, an ecological skincare therapist and nutritionist, near Stockholm [1][8]. The line grew out of oil blends Nomberg developed during her training to treat her own combination and acne-prone skin, and it is built around the Oil Cleansing Method — an approach that separates moisture and oil rather than combining them in a single cream. The company manufactures its products in-house in Tyresö, outside Stockholm, and remains active, with an in-house webshop and regular blog and social activity through early 2026 [9].
The brand sells directly across Sweden and to a handful of neighbouring markets, and positions itself around plant-based oils, absence of synthetic additives, and what the founder frames as a more conscious form of skincare.
Origin and founders
Sara Nomberg studied a nature-focused, medically oriented programme in secondary school before training as an ecological skincare therapist. According to the brand, she began mixing vegetable-oil blends during her training to manage her own combination skin and acne, and found that customers — particularly those with conditions such as rosacea, atopic eczema and perioral dermatitis — responded well to them [1]. The range launched officially in October 2010 through the brand's own site and a selection of Swedish retailers [8].
Nomberg later worked at Axelsons Gymnastiska Institut between 2016 and 2019 as a lead instructor in ecological skincare [1]. The company describes its skincare as "Sveriges naturligaste hudvård" (Sweden's most natural skincare), a positioning it returns to across its materials.
Philosophy and positioning
Organics by Sara organises its approach around the Oil Cleansing Method, cleansing the skin with oil rather than strong surfactants, and around a three-step routine of cleansing oil, facial water and facial oil [1]. The company says it keeps moisture and oil separate instead of blending them into a single cream, and avoids synthetic preservatives and surfactants.
Sustainability is framed in terms of both skin and environment. The brand points to concern that synthetic cosmetic ingredients contaminate soil and water, and describes its aim as "hållbara produkter för en hållbar hud" (sustainable products for sustainable skin) [1]. Nomberg has said she wants to influence people toward more conscious skincare choices and to educate them about synthetic chemicals in conventional products.
Products and innovation
The range includes around twenty products spanning facial care, body care and a small number of fragrance and accessory items — among them cleansing oils, solid soaps, facial waters, body and massage oils, a perfume oil, deodorants, facial oils and serums, and loofah soap dishes [9]. Signature items include the Cleansing Oil and the Facial Flower Water Lavender, alongside the Oil Serum Sensitive Skin.
The company states that its ingredients are drawn from the plant kingdom, that its products are vegan and not tested on animals, and that it adds no preservatives [6]. It also notes that it avoids ingredients regulated under the EU's REACH framework, partly because their testing can involve animals.
On the question of organic certification, the brand draws a distinction that is easy to miss. Its own FAQ states that the finished products are not certified organic; rather, the ingredients used are organically certified [6]. Marketing across the site nonetheless carries the line "100% Ekologisk hudvård" (100% organic skincare) as a positioning claim, and no specific certifying body is named.
Recognition
In 2024, Organics by Sara won "Bästa Ansiktsserum" (Best Facial Serum) at the Organic Beauty Awards for its Oil Serum Sensitive Skin, a product launched in February 2023 [7]. The award, which the company describes as Sweden's only competition for beauty products with a natural and organic focus, is organised by NOC Sweden. The serum had been nominated in two categories, Bästa Nyhet (Best New Product) and Bästa Ansiktsserum, and the jury cited its combination of a deeply hydrating serum phase and a nutrient-rich oil phase.
Distribution
Beyond direct sales through its own webshop, the brand is stocked by selected resellers — salons, clinics, spas, health-food stores and web shops — mainly in Sweden, with additional retailers in Germany, Slovakia, Iceland and Åland [4]. The company ships directly from its site to Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark.
Current status
Organics by Sara remains an active, independent brand. Products are still made in-house in Tyresö, and the company's most recent blog post is dated January 2026, with an accompanying Instagram presence [3]. Its core market is Sweden, though direct shipping and a small reseller network extend its reach across several nearby countries.
