Overview
Panthrix is an Austrian haircare brand that sells topical hair-growth products built around Redensyl, a licensed active-ingredient complex. The brand is operated by SnS Commerce GmbH, a company based in Vienna [3], and its products are stated to be developed and manufactured in Germany [4]. Panthrix markets its formulas as a hormone-free alternative to minoxidil, the widely used hair-loss drug, under the tagline "Besser als Minoxidil" ("Better than Minoxidil") [1].
The brand is active. It sells through its own webshop and, according to the company, through pharmacies in Austria and Germany as well as other online retailers [2].
Origin & ownership
Panthrix does not publish a founding date or a founding story, and no source names its founders. What is documented is the company behind it. The website's legal notice identifies SnS Commerce GmbH, entered in the commercial register at the Vienna commercial court, as the operator, with Lukas Schütz and Michael Serafin as managing directors [3]. Austrian business-register data describe the company's purpose as product development and distribution [8].
Schütz also appears in the brand's earliest public writing. The first post on the Panthrix blog, an August 2017 article asking whether stress might be behind a reader's hair loss, carries his byline. The blog went on to publish pieces on common hair-loss myths and home remedies in 2018, and a final article on hair transplants in June 2023.
No parent group, sister brands or acquisitions are documented.
Philosophy & positioning
Panthrix positions itself directly against minoxidil. Its homepage describes the main product as "2x so effektiv wie Minoxidil" (twice as effective as minoxidil) [1] and stresses that the formula contains no hormones. The company says the active complex works without negative effects on hormone balance, heart rate or body weight, and that its products are suitable for both men and women.
That comparison needs context. According to the brand's own ingredient page, the minoxidil figures come from a 2014 study by Induchem AG, the supplier of the Redensyl ingredient, rather than from a study of the Panthrix product itself [4]. The page cites that study as showing 29% higher hair density and 9% more hairs in the anagen, or active growth, phase. Separately, the homepage says clinically proven results point to the potential for more than 10,000 additional hairs within three months.
Panthrix backs its positioning with a money-back offer. The company promises a full refund if a customer sees no positive result after 150 days of use [5]. The guarantee comes with conditions. Buyers are asked to photograph the treated area, such as a receding hairline or a thinning crown, before starting and then every month. The refund can be claimed only once and for no more than two identical products, and it does not cover late-stage hair loss, scarring alopecia or acute autoimmune conditions.
Products & innovation
The core product is the Haarwuchs Aktivator (Hair Growth Activator), a scalp serum that combines Redensyl with caffeine and keratin. The ingredient page also lists niacinamide (vitamin B3), panthenol (a vitamin B5 derivative) and menthol. According to Panthrix, caffeine stimulates circulation, while keratin, a natural protein that makes up much of the hair, helps repair damaged fibres. Users are told to apply the serum twice a day, and the company estimates that a 100 ml bottle lasts about 50 days.
Redensyl itself is not a Panthrix invention. The brand describes it as a patented molecular complex made from dihydroquercetin glucoside, epigallocatechin gallate glucoside, the amino acid glycine and the trace element zinc. Panthrix says the complex calms the scalp, stimulates blood flow and strengthens the stem cells of the hair follicles. The brand site notes that an expert jury gave Redensyl a Silver Award for innovative active ingredients in 2014 [4]; that award belongs to the ingredient, not to Panthrix.
Alongside the activator, the range includes the Haarfülle Shampoo (Hair Fullness Shampoo), which the company aims at a depleted scalp and tired-looking hair, the Panthrix Care Set, a savings bundle that pairs the activator with the shampoo, and the Panthrix Wimpernserum, a lash serum.
Where the products are made is stated in slightly different ways. The English-language site says twice that the hair-growth activator is made in Germany [2], and the ingredient page says the products are developed and manufactured there. A footer line on the German-language homepage has, however, been reported to read "Made in Austria" [1]. Austria is where the operating company is based, which may explain the discrepancy.
Recognition
Independent coverage of Panthrix is limited. ARBUTI, a hair salon in Munich, included the brand in a hair-growth product test based on customer experiences in the salon and on clinical data, and states that "it was the second best product" in that test [7]. The salon also calls it "a great alternative to a hair transplant". The test is undated, and the page links to Amazon listings without an explicit affiliate disclosure.
Current status
Panthrix is active. In October 2026 its webshop was live with products in stock, apart from the lash serum, which was listed as sold out, and the site footer carried a 2026 copyright line [1]. The shop ships across the EU, and the website is offered in seven languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Russian. The brand runs accounts on Instagram and TikTok, although its blog has not been updated since June 2023.
