Summary

Overview

PARSA Beauty is a family-owned German company that makes hair and beauty accessories, headquartered in Sinsheim in Baden-Württemberg. It was founded in 1986 by Emil Hofer and Hans Schröder in the Kraichgau region, originally as a distributor of hair and fashion articles under the name PARSA Haar- und Modeartikel GmbH. Its range centres on tools rather than cosmetics: hairbrushes, combs, hair accessories, makeup brushes and sponges, and manicure and pedicure implements.

The company sells largely through supermarkets and drugstores across Europe and Asia, and describes itself as the European market leader in hair and beauty accessories [2]. It remains active and family-run: as of 2024 it announced further investment in its German operations.

Origin and founders

PARSA began in 1986 as a trading company for hair and fashion jewellery, set up by Emil Hofer and Hans Schröder in the Kraichgau, a rural region of south-west Germany [15]. The business grew from that accessories base into a broad supplier of beauty tools. According to the company, it now carries more than 5,000 articles spanning hair care, hair styling, cosmetic supplies, manicure and pedicure, and bathroom accessories.

The founding entity, PARSA Haar- und Modeartikel GmbH, still appears as the legal name alongside the PARSA Beauty brand.

History and milestones

The company established its headquarters in Sinsheim in 2005, and in December 2015 moved into a new administration, sales and logistics centre in the town [14]. Regional press has reported that PARSA roughly tripled its revenue from around 2011 onward as it expanded across Central and Eastern Europe [14].

In 2021 the company opened a warehouse site in nearby Kirchardt and began describing itself as climate-neutral. By 2022 it reported having sold 100 million products cumulatively. Leadership was widened in early 2023 with the appointment of Katharina Abernethy as head of marketing and Marc Wandrey as head of sales.

In 2024 PARSA announced a €15 million investment in an automated AutoStore storage system at its Sinsheim site, expanding its logistics hall to add capacity. Owner Heiko Hofer said the company was committed to its Sinsheim and Kirchardt locations and intended to keep growing there [13].

Ownership

PARSA Beauty is a family enterprise. Founder Emil Hofer, who turned 80 in 2022, handed day-to-day leadership to his son Heiko Hofer and to Frank Hohl, while continuing to advise on strategic matters [15]. Heiko Hofer is described in company and press material as the owner.

Reporting has referred to subsidiary brands including Solida and KDK, along with several joint ventures and regional offices; Solida Style is positioned as a line for specialist retail.

Philosophy and positioning

The company's stated purpose is to help customers express individuality through beauty tools, summed up in its tagline, "Your Beauty Is Our Mission." Its homepage says that "for over 35 years, PARSA Beauty has stood for exclusive, innovative and high-quality beauty tools and accessories," and it names quality, functionality and modern design as the core of what it does.

PARSA operates as a multi-channel business: private-label partnerships with major retailers, traditional trade through supermarkets and drugstores, and its own online sales. The brand sits at the drugstore price tier, with supermarket chains and drugstores named as its primary customers. Products are designed and coordinated from Germany, with manufacturing carried out mainly in East Asia [15]. According to the company, its goods reach more than 17,000 points of sale worldwide across upwards of 35 countries [2].

Products and innovation

PARSA's catalogue is organised around hair, face, nails, body, hair accessories and home-spa categories. A recurring theme is what the company calls active-ingredient brushes ("Wirkstoffbürsten") — brushes finished with materials such as keratin and biotin, lotus and zinc, or carbon and tourmaline, each pitched at a particular hair need.

The ID by PARSA Beauty line groups tools by specific hair and foot-care concerns. It includes the Silk Shine Spiral Brush for dull hair, an Anti-Hair Loss Brush for fine hair, an Anti-Frizz Brush for dry hair, and a two-in-one microfibre-and-satin hair turban, alongside a Pedi ID range of foot-care implements. The company says these products draw on materials including silk protein, hyaluronic acid and collagen. PARSA also runs a set of sub-brands, among them the Signature Collection, Hairhero and LOV.U, as well as dedicated baby, kids and men's lines.

Sustainability

PARSA states that it has been a climate-neutral company since 2021, though it does not name the certifying body on its public pages [3]. It has set a goal of halving its ecological footprint by 2030 and says that about half of its products are made from recycled or organic materials, that 76% of its primary packaging uses FSC-certified paper, and that it handles around 120 tonnes of recycled packaging a year [3]. The company points to plastic-saving materials such as cork and wheat straw in eco-focused lines including the Eco Line, Nature Love and Nature Kids.

On social and quality standards, PARSA lists certifications and memberships including ISO 9001, IFS Broker, FSC, GOTS and the amfori BSCI social-auditing scheme, and says its suppliers commit contractually to fair working conditions and to rejecting forced and child labour.

Its most recent widely reported development was the 2024 announcement of a €15 million logistics investment at Sinsheim [13].
