Overview
Perris Monte Carlo is a niche fragrance and skincare house based in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The brand was founded in 2011 by Gian Luca Perris [2], building on an older family perfumery business, and it remains active, with fragrance launches recorded as recently as 2025 and 2026.
The house works across three areas: perfume, a skincare line marketed as Perris Swiss Laboratory, and bath and body products. It positions itself around craftsmanship and the sourcing of natural raw materials rather than mass-market appeal, describing its idea of luxury as one "based not on appearance, but on the quality of craftsmanship."
Origin and founders
Gian Luca Perris, the brand's founder and creative director, was born in Rome and studied economics and commerce before entering the family trade. According to the company, that family business, Perris Group, was created in 1981 [3]. Perris established the Perris Monte Carlo label three decades later, in 2011, in Monaco.
The company presents two figures at different points in its own history, and its pages attribute the origins differently. Its "Our Story" page names Michele Perris as the founding visionary "whose love for the art of perfumery and skincare laid the foundation," describing a family enterprise operating for more than fifty years [1]. Its perfumer and heritage pages instead credit Gian Luca Perris with founding the Perris Monte Carlo brand specifically in 2011 [2]. The two accounts are best read as describing different things: Michele Perris as the originator of the wider family perfumery legacy, and Gian Luca Perris as founder of the niche brand that carries the Monte Carlo name. The 1981 date belongs to the parent company, Perris Group, while 2011 is the founding year of the Perris Monte Carlo brand.
The brand describes itself as conceived "as a place halfway between the old laboratory with its handed-down secrets, and a research center open to innovation." Its collections draw on several regions for inspiration and materials, among them rose essence associated with the Middle East and lavender from Provence.
Ownership
Products and innovation
The fragrance side is organized into several lines, including the Black Collection, the Gold Collection, an Italy Collection, Extraits de Parfum, and a separate Perris Portofino range. The Gold Collection is described by the house as a tribute to the Middle East, and the Black Collection as a tribute to raw materials.
Since 2018 the perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, a native of Grasse, has collaborated with the house on a line called Les Parfums de Grasse [9]. Other perfumers associated with the brand's compositions include Luca Maffei, Jacques Flori, Jean Michel Santorini and Mathieu Nardin. Individual releases include the unisex Eau de Parfum Shining Moon, which combines floral notes with soft woods, and Balsamir, an oriental woody fragrance launched in 2025 [11]. The fragrance encyclopedia Wikiparfum lists roughly 40 fragrances in the brand's catalogue [8].
The skincare range, marketed under the Perris Swiss Laboratory name, is presented separately from the perfumes. The company describes its formulations as clean beauty, listing ingredients it excludes: parabens, phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde-donors, PEGs, silicones, mineral oil, synthetic dyes and perfumes, and animal-derived and genetically modified ingredients, among others [4]. On the technical side, the brand cites what it calls "Pharmaceutical Swiss technology," tailor-made liposomes and ultra-fine emulsions, and says its skincare products are dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested. It also states that products received an "EcoDermoCompatible Form" gold sticker certifying ingredients at the INCI level.
Philosophy and positioning
The company frames its work around three stated values — expertise, passion and excellence — and says every creation is "guided by three core values that define the Perris ethos" [1]. It describes true luxury as coming from craftsmanship and the sourcing of the finest natural raw materials, and says it aims to "celebrate the timeless power of beauty - to enchant, to uplift, and to inspire." The brand is generally grouped within niche perfumery rather than mainstream fragrance.
Recognition
Coverage of the house appears chiefly in fragrance-focused editorial outlets. The encyclopedia Fragrantica has reported on its launches, including features on new releases from Monaco, and notes that the brand's perfumes have been rated 7.5 out of 10 on average by its users [9].
Current status
Perris Monte Carlo is an active house. It operates a direct-to-consumer website with a store locator, maintains a catalogue of around 40 fragrances, and has continued to release new perfumes, with Balsamir launched in 2025 and further fragrance activity indicated for 2026 [11]. Its products are distributed across several markets, including the Nordic countries, other European niche retailers and a United States storefront.
