Pfeilring is a German manufacturer of manicure, pedicure and nail-care instruments, based in Solingen and producing under that name since 1896 [1]. Pfeilring traces its beginnings to 1896, when Carl Müller, from the Bergisch Land region, launched his first product in Solingen — a cigar cutter [3]. As demand grew, Müller partnered with Paul Adolph Schmidt, who joined as financier and marketer, and together they founded the firm "Müller & Schmidt Pfeilringwerk" [3]. That same year the company registered its PFEILRING trademark, a ring encircled by five arrows, which gave the brand its name.

The partners built the business around the local trade of Solingen, the western German town long associated with blades and cutlery, and set out to serve customers well beyond Germany.

Construction of a larger factory on Charlottenstraße began in August 1900, and by 1910 the firm had installed its own drop forge to raise production output. Through the 1920s, bench tools, scissors and nail files became core products, and the company maintained showrooms in several German cities.

The death of founder Carl Müller in 1932 opened a difficult period; the company records economic hardship lasting until 1945, followed by rebuilding after wartime damage. Leadership passed to a second generation of the founding families: Wolfgang Schmidt, son of Paul Adolph Schmidt, took over management in 1956, and Dr. Eberhard Wendel, a grandson of Carl Müller, joined the leadership in 1960 [3]. In 2018, Pfeilring became part of the RAVO Group [2]. Following the acquisition, the company's senior management is drawn from new leadership rather than the descendants of the original founding families.

According to Pfeilring, its instruments are ground, mounted, aligned and sharpened by hand and undergo full quality testing before shipping. Production is concentrated at a single site in central Solingen, where the company says product development, warehousing, logistics and manufacturing sit under one roof. The manufacturer reports around 90 staff producing roughly 21,000 items per day [2].

Pfeilring specialises in small nail-care and grooming instruments: nail scissors, cuticle and baby scissors, tweezers in offset, diagonal and straight forms, nail clippers, files and cuticle tools, along with complete manicure and pedicure sets. Tools are offered in a range of finishes, including nickel-free, nickel-plated, chromium-plated, gold-plated and stainless-steel versions. One US retailer's brand listing also describes sapphire nail files and premium sets among the range [6].

Pfeilring continues to operate as a manufacturing brand within the RAVO Group, which acquired it in 2018 [2]. The company reports active operations, with roughly 21,000 items produced daily at its Solingen facility and distribution across more than 60 countries [2].
